The Trip Nip

TTN is a method of discovery and demonstration of nipplfying music savvy.

You ask for 3 songs representative of an artist that you want to know more about.
Feel free to supply MP3s for mo’ Karma gravy.
The person who supplies the suggested 3 songs gets to inquire about an artist of their own.

I’ll start:
I want The Trip Nip on :

The Kinks

there is nothing that i do not already know about the things that i like. i could ask somebody to explain muse to me, but i do not care about muse. like at all. do you see the problem here? i WILL volunteer to break down the classics for the kids though. faces, the jam, the specials, costello, etc. just ask.

"only a lad", "wild sex in the working class", and ummm, "stay" is a pretty good mid tempo ballad type song, i guess. for a band like that, i would say just get the live disc. that's where the real magic happens. or happened, i guess i should say.

i want boredoms or modern lovers. or actually wait, orange juice. yeah, someone go do orange juice.

Those Kinks choices were selected by an idiot.

Sensing that the Beatles, Stones, and Who were radically transforming rock music by turning it literate and conceptual, Ray Davies decided the Kinks should be his vehicle to explore his unusual longing for a simpler time when the English empire was not in decline. A reliance on English music hall tradition and sentiments indicated in titles such as "Last of the Steam-Powered Trains," "Picture Book," and "Village Green" clearly show Davies's nostalgia streak. Davies's singing has always been rough and non-Kinks fans may have trouble getting past his sloppy pitch. But for those listening closely, the tales are one of a kind. --Rob O'Connor

i said personal favorites, hippie. PERSONAL. plus this is for the kids. who barely know "you've really got me". you really want infants dining on caviar? a utopian idea to be sure, but it might get a bit messy. crawl before you run, i always say.
