"I would like to be traded, yeah," Bryant said on 1050 ESPN Radio in New York. "Tough as it is to come to that conclusion there's no other alternative, you know?"
Bryant, interviewed by Stephen A. Smith, was asked if there was anything the Lakers could do to change his mind.
"No," Bryant said. "I just want them to do the right thing."

And the downfall continues!

Kobe will get traded.

It's only a matter of when and for who.

The Lakers front office obviously don't want Kobe around if they're telling him a bunch of lies to keep him going.

the trade machine (http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trademachine) rules though. suns could give up marion and piatkowski for kobe if they wanted to. which they don't. can anybody come up with any other good ones?

re: eastern conference. if i am reading the numbers right, it looks like the knicks might be the only team that could actually pull off a straight team to team trade with no questions asked. crawford, curry, francis, frye, james, jeffries, richardson, robertson. the whole team's expendable in one way or another. or marbury +1 and some cash for kobe and let francis play the point. i don't think they'll necessarily go that way, but it IS possible.

This does seem pretty logical, but Stern will intervene on anything the Knicks do and will demand that this be a trade involving no less then 3 teams.

He's claiming he's only willing to be traded to one team (which he can do with his no trade clause). Not sure who that team is though.

I don't care who they bring in, they're going to have trouble justifying $350 tickets at the Staples Center.

right. good point. but i also wouldn't be surprised if just once, Stern sees the logic of keeping both NY and LA happy. there's enough talent between the two teams to make both somewhat legitimate contenders by next season. having two decent teams in two marquee markets is in everybody's best interests. it's just good business. plus imagine shaq vs kobe in the eastern conference playoffs and all of the manufactured storylines that would go along with that. the NBA lives for that shit, especially Stern.

how do you make the chicago trade work, fober? just curious.

You bring up a good point, a trade to the Knicks would make the two biggest markets in sports very happy campers and it could boost the revenue through the roof, a somewhat slumping revenue as of late, but Stern has it out for the Knicks any chance he gets. I can totally see him forcing a third party on a trade to the Knicks which would make the Lakers back out.

This could also be a money issue as well, apparently Kobe's trade clause allows him an additional $13 million from whatever team obtains him....hmmmmmm

Duhon, Gordon, Brown (S&T), +/- Thomas or Draft Picks.

Far fetched, but this is friggin' Kobe Bryant we are talking about.

yeah i can see that. maybe. especially if the lakers truly are trying to go into full blown rebuilding mode. but i think brown might have some trade restrictions on him. plus i'm not sure if the money adds up. kobe makes $17,718,750 a year according to espn, plus if that $13 million trade clause is true...

those had better be some pretty fucking impressive draft picks is all i'm saying.

Chicago is one of a very few number of teams that has the assets to trade for Kobe and still have a solid core to compete after he arrives.

Factor in that Kobe was considering going to Chicago as a FA and that the city is the 3rd biggest in the country (for endorsements sake, of course), I would be very surprised if the one team he wanted to be traded to wasn't Chicago.

yeah, now the lakers can continue to suck with their golden boy rather than without him. what a relief for the rest of the league. kobe needs to NOT be the leader of that team. or any team for that matter. kobe needs a parker or a nash to make that shit work. he's a SHOOTING guard for chrissakes. i die a little inside everytime i see him advance that ball up the court. that's not basketball. it's a three ring circus where the trapeze artist just happens to also score 40+ a game. where's the lion tamer? or the ringmaster? anyone? hello?

your insane you know how much they would be over the luxury tax/salary cap with a team like that. Plus it will just be too stacked, like the 04 team that lost in the finals with who winning that one game.. KOBE.
