A couple of months ago I sent my details in to a new TV gameshow where they ask you questions about music and you can win cash prizes.

On Thursday they called me and asked me several quiz questions over the phone, and I got them all right.

Yesterday I got this email inviting me for an audition tomorrow morning:

Congratulations! You are one step closer to potentially becoming a contestant on the ITV1 Music Gameshow!

LOCATION AND TIME:

Following a recent phone call between yourself and a member of our production team, we are pleased to confirm your time slot of 09:15 on Sunday 17th June 2007 at the special filmed audition day being held at the following location:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Charing Cross
London

Please see the attached sheet for more information on how to get to the venue. Also, please ensure that you reach the venue half an hour before your allocated time. Unfortunately we are unable to pay for any travel expenses.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN:

Upon arrival you will register your attendance with one of our production team. There will then be a short wait during which our cameras may come and speak with you and some members of your ‘entourage’ (the footage may even end up in the later shows!).

After a short period of time, you will be taken through to the main room in groups where you will audition one by one. Once your own audition is over we do ask you to stay until the rest of your group have finished. The whole process could take up to three hours so be prepared for some short periods of waiting time. Once again these auditions are being filmed so the footage - regardless of whether you get through to the final stages - may be shown during the later shows. Please note that the adjudication panel’s decision is final.

GUESTS:

During the phone call you were asked if you would like to bring anybody with you to support you during your audition. We would like to stress once again that each applicant may only bring with them up to three friends or family and no more. If any of your guests are below the age of 10 please make sure that a chaperone will be present with them whilst your audition is taking place. Obviously we require complete silence during filming so we may request that young children remain in the waiting area. Please make sure your friends and/or family are aware that they may be interviewed and possibly featured in the finished programme and so could be asked to sign release forms consenting to the use of their contribution.

This is your chance to sell yourselves, so please come prepared and willing to be interviewed by our roving camera and impress with your knowledge of Top Ten Hits and all things lyrical!

DRESS CODE:

The dress code is smart/casual – as if you’re going to a party! You may want to bring another top with you in case your first choice is not suitable for some reason.

For camera reasons, please avoid:

a) Plain white

b) Plain black

c) Anything with stripes or other thin patterns

d) Anything with a brand name or logo clearly displayed (eg. Adidas, etc)

VERY IMPORTANT:

Please now leave us a message before the end of Friday 15th June on 07xxx xxxxx5 (or e-mail us at xxxxxxxxxxx@itv.com) stating your name, the time and venue of your audition, and the names of your guests (including their relationship to you) so that we can confirm your place.

If for any reason you are unable to attend the audition please call us on 07xxx8 xxxxx5 and leave us a detailed message stating your name and allocated slot time.

We look forward to meeting with you!

Wish me luck.

Wooo! You're going to win. Obviously. One can collect a lot of useless knowledge on these boards.

This would be tough. Hell, all of it would be tough. Good luck man.

Also I wanna see the footage. You should steal their film/video/whatever afterwards so you can show us more quickly.

His name is Stephanie? I was always under the impression that Stephanie was that member's name. Apparently it's not. My mistake. Sorry bro.

Well, I was there for about four hours in total. There was lot of time spent sitting around and waiting. I was astonished by how many of the other people there were career gameshow contestants who seriously treated it as a job. Scary.

Anyhow, they asked me three questions, and I got two of them right. They played a line of a song and then I had to sing the next line back.

The first was "Sound of the Underground" by Girls Aloud. I got it WRONG. I do not know Girls Aloud lyrics. Oh, the shame.

The second was "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?" by Culture Club. I got it RIGHT.

The third was "Friday I'm In Love" by The Cure. I got it RIGHT.

I was pretty calm in front of the cameras, and I think I did okay. But loads of people scored 2 out of 3, so I have no idea whether they will ask me to go back for the actual show or not. I may be on TV anyway, though, because there was a lot of filming yesterday, documenting the entire audition process. I will be sure to let you all know if and when it hits youtube.
