View Full Version : 3 acts you really hope play this year
ciaoq

im just interested in who everyone wants to play and there are far too many threads on the old board! maybe not super headliner groups just ones you would love to see
for me its:
Arcade Fire
i really love funeral and their new stuff sounds really good, plus they put on an amazing live show.
Soulwax (nite versions)
i saw these guys before in a tent and it was one of the most intense, amazing musical experiences ever. they woud make a brilliant sahara headliner.
MEW
ever since i heard and the glass handed kites i have been addicted to them, i imagine they would put on an incredible show too.
anyway, thats my two cents, whats yours :)

Portishead, Air, something with Damon Albarn in it (Blur/Gorillaz/TGTBATQ).

The Shins: They've come through a couple of times over the years. This would be an ideal place and environment to see them.
Morrissey: He would be a great presesnce on the main stage.
Paul Weller: Coachella is the place for surprises and reunions. Not only would it be great to see Paul but even better if they had a Jam reunion.

nice pick with Soulwax! I would like to see them alot too!
but here are mine:
The Chemical Brothers: Im a super fanboy whos never seen them live, new album out sometime this year.
Portishead: A fantasic combination of hip hop, jazz, and blues. Their music is so good its creepy.
A Tribe Called Quest: My favorite Hip Hop group, who I regret missing play live this past September. We got the Jazz, We got the Jazz.
Rage Against The Machine (I know thats 4) got into them after their breakup, a reunion I would love to see.

I think electronic acts returning every couple of years isnt such a bad thing. The tough one is getting good electronic headliners because the rest sort themselves out usually.

01-17-2007, 10:22 PM
The National
The Hold Steady (but they're playing in Baltimore in March, so I can catch them then)
and I liked the Portishead and A Tribe Called Quest mentions above, but I'll throw in Electric President to be different (unless a Talking Heads reunion was somehow possible, which it isn't)

THE HIVES- so good, so hard, so loud, so Coachella
THE FLAMING LIPS- the visual/musical spectacle that you wont forget.+ They havent properly headlined a fest yet....nows the time.
THE ORB- I'm not even a big fan but my buddies would quit their jobs and come to Coachella if these guys made a return.+ my buds said there was some issue the year that orb played. like they got cut off or ran out of time er sumthin. but I guess the crowd and the ORB were both visibly pissed! this is a good year to make it up to them and us and you C0VCHE77V

The Arcade Fire - They've put on one of the most passionate and involved performances I've ever seen from a traditional band.
Radiohead - I don't think this needs explanation
The Smashing Pumpkins - I doubt they'll be ready by then though
Bjork - Cause she evades me everytime she tours and I still haven't seen her.

reverse psychology. they censor words and phrases we think won't play, but its to get us to think that so we don't expect them to play, but they probably will play even though we think they won't, but if they make us think they won't, maybe they will or maybe they won't, and maybe we think they will, but they might not because they have gone to so much trouble to make us think they won't, but they may have thought of that, which means, they will, but they might have thought of that too, so maybe they won't, so what they are really doing is making us think they will play by making us type in who we think will play, who maybe won't play, because they might have thought of that, and they might have thought of us thinking that, which means we are just rats in a circular maze, or rather, just me

Ok, so my three acts . . .
The Shins: I missed them last time through AZ, so I would dig finally seeing them live.
Ben Kweller: I can't believe I haven't seen his name pop up on more lists! He rocks live, and seeing him at Coachella would seriously make me peeeee. . .
BRMC: Coachella would be a perfect place for them - short set list, so no room for them to do the boring "jam" session bit - just straight up rockin'!
