Yo..I just tried it and it sounded like crap...maybe just becasue I'm not used to the ableton stuff...I could get it sometimes, but it would double up the vox sometimes and mess with the tempo. Weird shite...

I just recently noticed that several of my favorite Meat Puppets albums from the '90's are currently not in distribution. I guess they were right - they don't exist. Dammit, that's not right!

Don't let their flame die out! I love these songs.

No,but I had a friend who played bass on The Vandals album "When in Rome" and he knew Keith Morris and said he liked smoking pot and listening to "2112" and I was extremely disappointed in him for that(not that there is anything wrong with that,I just expect more from my punk rock heroes).

breakjaw
04-10-2007, 08:15 AM
Doing both at once is damn near unforgivable from the former Black Flag singer. If he was smoking pot and listening to "Funhouse",ok.If he was driving in his Valiant and all the windows were rolled up,and "2112" happened to be playing on KLSX,so be it.But not sitting and taking bong hits and actually turning the album over. No,no way is that acceptable.

Ok,as long as there is absolutely not a shred of nostalgia for it.

of course not.

are you claiming that your musical tastes have always been cool? did you leap from the womb with all the Velvet Underground's stuff embedded in your DNA?

not me. I lived in North Canton Ohio (not Canton, but North Canton) through ninth grade and then Jefferson City Missouri for the rest of high school. It may surprise you to learn that these places are not on the cutting edge of cool. In Jeff City you were lucky if you could pull in KSHE-FM from St Louis on a good day; otherwise the only exposure to music was whatever everyone else was listening to. Rush, Foghat, REO Speedwagon, you name it, I had it and listened to it. I mean there was Led Zeppelin sure but otherwise it was Ted Nugent and Kiss.

I don't have any nostalgia for that music but I don't really feel bad about it either. I was a kid and I went through my bad music phase, so what. (In fact I think that phase gives me some authority in identifying just what is bad music, having lived it myself for a while). By the time I was 16 I'd started to outgrow it and by the time I was 18 I was playing The Slits on college radio.

No,I liked some bad stuff, too.I seem to enjoy more "uncool music" now that I'm older and don't care about being trendy as much.I went through a mod/ska phase, and now when I think I liked The Untouchables and bands like that,it's mildly embarassing.
But I think there is no Statute of Limitations for Rush.

I have some good friends that live in North Canton. I was there two summers ago for a wedding. And like 10 years ago for visiting. There was grass and trees.

And, actually, one of the people I know there is in a band. But that band is based in Akron.

And I listened to those bands in high school even though I grew up in Phoenix. And later than you did. Hmm... that doesn't strike me as much better. Though I'm certain it was.

Phoenix fifteen years ago had 1060, at least. I didn't listen to it much, though. I should've. As it was I got most of my music from friends and family. And some radio.

The first two were considered, but we ultimately decided to leave them out, as you can see. We thought we'd get a better balance of the artistic and catchy this way. We also limited ourselves to a couple from each record (for the most part), including some hits, ala "Shock The Monkey".

EDIT:

Actually, if I remember correctly, all 3 entered the discussion. But I might be wrong.

I don't think "I Have the Touch" received serious consideration since we already had three songs from Melt.

Anyone that has Sarah Vaughn come up on random shuffle is ok in my book.I have 2 mixes done (1 is an artist mix,the other is a mixed mix) but neither are random.I have been experiencing some internet connection difficulty, but I'll try to upload them tomorrow.

01. Joy Division - These Days (Piccadilly Radio session) - Heart and Soul - 3:28
02. Neil Young - On the Beach - On the Beach - 6:59
03. Juan MacLean - Dance With Me - Less Than Human - 14:05
04. Marillion - When I Meet God - Anoraknophobia - 9:17
05. Antonin Dvorak - Slavonic Rhapsody No. 3 - Kubelik, RPO - 12:05
06. Songs: Ohia - Two Blue Lights - Didn't It Rain - 2:14
07. Patti Smith - Birdland - Horses - 9:15
08. The Jesus and Mary Chain - Stardust Remedy - Munki - 2:26
09. TV on the Radio - Wash the Day - Return to Cookie Mountain - 8:08
10. Richard Wagner - Kurwenal! He! Sag, Kurwenal! - Tristan und Isolde (Boehm) - 8:08
11. The Litters - She's Not There - $100 Fine - 9:11
12. The Homosexuals - Across Continents - Astral Glamour - 2:16
13. The Wedding Present - Corduroy - Seamonsters - 3:28
14. Spacemen 3 - Set Me Free (Reprise) - Recurrning - 1:50
15. Johannes Brahms - Denn wir haben heir keine bleibende Stadt - Ein Deutsches Requiem (Klemp) - 11:46

8 tracks over 8 minutes = no good. Also too long.

Though I must admit I've used that Brahms track on a mixtape before. It's pretty fucking rad. I love late Romantic choral fugues.

Maybe it would come out better if I was using iTunes. Not gonna happen, tho.

01 - Weapon of Choice - 5-13
02 - Cee Lo Green - The Art of Noise (feat. Pharell)
03 - Rosenstein-Szenkar - Go to Rallye (multi-part track)
04 - Quasimoto - Players of the Game
05 - Les Baxter - High Priest Of The Aztecs
06 - The Coup - Ass Breath Killers
07 - Anti-Flag - Sold As Freedom
08 - Soul Searchers - Ashley's Roachclip
09 - Erick Sermon - Battle
10 - K'naan - The African Way (feat. Mwafrika)
11 - pete rock - Just Do It (feat. pharoahe monch)
12 - Sublime - 40 oz. to Freedom
13 - Big Ella - The Queen
14 - Blue Magic - Freak-N-Stein
15 - Penuckle - Study Music

Track 15 is highly appropriate because I met that cat sellin' his CD in front of the AM/PM in Palm Desert after Coachella a few years ago. Anyway, it's what you might term an "eclectic" mix.

LoL...Funk/Soul/Hip-Hop/Punk/Reggae/Easy Listening.

OK I've not had internet connectivity for a month, but now I do so I can explain.
I made this audio file out of the 2 asf files which were recorded from the webcast, which both had problems, including not having Laika at all.I did my best to remove the drop-outs from the first 2 tracks and tried the best possible audio conversion of the rest(which already had the drop-outs removed) ie asf-wav-lame mp3 var.
All this being said,it is completely BoldCaptain's fault for not being there to provide a flawless recording for us all.
