May I vent a moment, so I love how Goldenvoice sends me their on sale weekly email alert with the Kanye Presale pasword after the Kanye presale is sold out (I got the email around 4 pm when the presale started at 10 am today) and to make matters worse the actual real sale is tomorrow morning at 10 AM (LA Show Nokia).

And then I read down the email to see that the Hot Chip show will not be rescheduled and that I can get my money back at point of purchase.

I mean, that Foo Fighter guy just sings in a key that's too hard for me to sing along with when I'm driving in my car. Maybe if he dropped things down half a step I might enjoy them more...

EDIT: I take it back... I wouldn't want them to sacrifice artistic credibility. I guess I should just try harder to appreciate them...

I am beginning to think with some of our more illustrious concert goers’ on the board, it would be easier to post the shows they AREN’T going to as opposed to the ones they are going to :) ….. x****

For those of us in CA, it would be probably be longer to list the shows we're not going to... lots of venues and lots of good shows. :)

April 25-27 - Coachella
August ?? - whatever California gigs I can get Radiohead tickets for

I'm looking at a similar situation and am pretty jealous of those who get to see so many shows. I've got the following:
April 25-27 - Coachella
August - Lollapalooza or APW (APW only if Lolla doesn't get Radiohead and APW gets Radiohead and My Bloody Valentine...but I think Lolla gets Radiohead this year)
- Radiohead in Chicago (whenever they announce) if I'm able to get tickets

Like half the row ended up leaving with a good 30 minutes left, so me and my friend moved over a bit because these annoying peopel behind us kept arguing if they were actually spinning the records or if it was likea cd and stuff. Yeah Kid Koala was the man, he did such an awesome set in 2001, like when he finished with arecord he would throw it to the ground, and had some super cool samples that nobody wouldve ever though of hearing. I actually had a funny exchange with the guitarist from Grand Ole Party last night. The girl who introduced me to them has been in the hospital for over a month now, thus couldn't go to the show last night and was naturally really bummed about it. So I called her for the duration of the set, but politely just held my phone right in front of my face, actually pointed up since the speakers at The Echo come down from the ceiling at a 45 degree angle.

But I was fairly close to the stage, and I was hoping the band members didn't think I was an asshole taping their show on my phone the whole time (though again, I was holding it in absolutely no one's line of view). After their set, I decided I might as well go try to say hi to them because I maintain they're going to be huge and I'd like to be able to say I met them briefly after like their second ever headlining show. Plus I figured if I told them the story about someone stuck in the hospital who was really cheered up by being able to listen to their show through a phone, that would be like a nice feeling for them? You know, like when baseball players hit a homer for the kid with cancer.

So I immediately go to the side of the stage, and they come down, and the guitarist comes near me first and I was just like, "Hey man, just wanted to say that was an amazing show, I know you guys are gonna do really really well, I'm looking forward to getting to watch you get bigger and bigger."

And he was all, "Oh, thanks." So I started to tell him the story, but didn't quite phrase it in the best order: "Hey, I just wanted you to know--I don't know if you saw me holding my phone up throughout the set but it wasn't cause I was taping you. It's 'cause the biggest fan of yours I know, the girl who introduced me to your music, couldn't be here tonight because she's in the hospital."

And I don't think I paused very long but he very quickly looked sad/bored and just said, "Wow, that's terrible. Really sorry to hear that." So I immediately felt really bad and was like, "NO NO NO, my point is that it really cheered her up! But... yeah, okay, I see your point--you just got off stage after rocking the joint, the last thing you want to hear is something tragic."

And there was an awkward pause, and I just laughed and excused myself. Frankly I almost never try to meet bands because I always find the conversations so weird and forced.

Those oven mitts were tight. My friend went nuts at the merch table and I tried to get him to buy the mitts and apron but he bought up the new Kid Koala cd and the live Hard Sell and two t-shirts instead. He gave me stickers. I got the boombox one on my laptop.

I don't understand how Kid Koala keeps his balance on stage. It's positively physics-defying, he's like completely leaned-back on his heels dancing, it's like the beat is holding him up.

IGNORANCE IS BLISS:

I was having a great, fun-filled day today before I found out two things that broke my heart, because I will not let them break my bank.

1. The Swell Season is playing at McCabe's guitar shop in Santa Monica tonight at 11. About 50 people fit inside. They announced it somewhere on the internets, and I didn't find out about it until it sold out. My friend's roommate got in, and he found a guy willing to sell me a ticket for $75, but I just couldn't do it. It would be amazing to see them in a little tiny guitar shop, but I've only once ever paid that much money for a show and it wasn't worth it.

2. A few hours after I heard about that, I was in a coffee shop reading LA Weekly and found out there's an Oscar pre-party at the Avalon on Feb 20 with Swell Season, Damien Rice, and Michelle Branch. (A few of you know I used to be a huuuuuuuuge Michelle Branch fan before her album came out and I pretty much haven't seen her since 2001 so that would just add to the fun of seeing Damien and Swell). The catch: tickets are $250 since it's a fundraiser. Fuck. I was considering spending that much before my friend Alex talked me out of it. I've already seen Damien and Swell Season together multiple times for $30 bucks each. I wish I had connections to Avalon for this, but unfortunately I do not.

Now I get to curl up and watch Six Feet Under and feel sorry for myself.

No I did not. and if they com up to Vancoiver in april, YOU ARE GOING.

Ouch Tessa, that sucks, and yes ignorance is bliss. I woudl rather have only heard of the oscar thing and just thought ''its too much money whatever'' than the Swell Season guitar shop thing.

Coupled with a better version of the White Stripes with a drummer who's useful for more than just a sex tape. Not like that's a bad thing, though...

The White Stripes are amazing. Meg does just fine for their music. Knocking her drumming is like knocking Neil Young's lead guitar skills. Moronic.

They dont put set times out til the week or soemthing, its ridiculous. And this one could sell out considering who is on this thing, the east coast one has sold out in advance before, so I wouldnt be suprised.

So I just found out my friend's roommate Lars ended up spontaneously playing harmonica with them when they covered the Bob Dylan song and Glen invited him up to their dressing room afterwards to drink beers with them and DAMIEN RICE. Damien told him how good he was and Glen said he was fucking brilliant. Lars had a 20 minute conversation with Marketa just about life and Czech Republic and then he went out to Swingers with Damien Rice. Jesus Christ. If I had gone, I probably would have been with him. Damien also played "Delicate" at the show by himself as well. This is officially my biggest concert regret ever.

I just got back from Manson. Quite a good show. He did alot of Antichrist stuff, and only about 2 songs from Eat Me, Drink Me. He also did a cover of Patti Smith's Rock n Roll Nigger. Seeing Twiggy back in the lineup was excellent, he added soooo much as to what was missing from the Germany show i saw in June. This show was all about 1996, he busted out Antichrist Superstar and Beautiful People in the encore, and had the podium out and set the bible on fire.... this show really restored my confidence in him. A little too much kicking his mic stand over though.

googlemaps shows 355 miles and a 5 hour drive. I am thinking thats because you lose an hour, but it sounds fairly accurate.

Is this real? I thought the Dead Kennedys were broken up..or is this some band that is a cover band or one original member?

Ignorance is Bliss Part 2:

I found out more details - during the show, Marketa really didn't want to do solo stuff on the piano cause she was so nervous in front of such a small group. Glen had to convince her to do it, and then he sat on the edge of the stage with his arms around his knees watching her play. And then when Damien got up she came over and sat with Glen and he sat there with his arm around her watching Damien. Jeeeeez. And while Lars was hanging out with them afterwards, he asked Glen about the Oscars and he said they were really excited, but they had no idea how they were going to cut Falling Slowly down from 4 minutes to 2 minutes for the live show.

Oh and I guess Damien goes to McCabe's all the time, and kept telling Glen how he had to check it out whenever he was in Santa Monica cause it's one of the best guitar shop's he's ever been to. Glen finally went in with Marketa one day and started talking to the owner and asked if they could ever play there and the owner was like "sure, how bout tomorrow night?" That's how the show came about. Fucking ridiculous. I'm gonna check out that shop this week.

We don't lose an hour if it's a show in May. Times change again in March (and AZ time never changes). I think it is about 5 hours from Phoenix metro area to San Diego. Six hours for me.

If this is the first you've heard about this tour the original press release can be found at http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=290848. We are still planning a DVD, reality-TV series, and feature length documentary as well as press coverage in National Geographic, Time, Life, People, etc. We're still waiting on a few shows in China to be confirmed and the one show in Dubai. Dubai has been a nightmare to book. If anyone wants to help us out with Dubai email us at horsethebooking@gmail.com. Anything else still TBA will be confirmed in the next week or so.

Leg 2 will include all of North and Central America and will take place this summer, hopefully for the most part on Warped Tour (if Kevin Lyman can fit us in somewhere, evidently it's "full" but a few tens of thousands of emails, bribery, and straight-up blackmail could reveal an previously overlooked opening). If not we start picking off uni-haircut bands with colorful, whimsical ads in the first 30-40 pages of AP. No one will notice they're gone anyway. We'll definitely be hitting the US, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama at least.

Leg 3 will be in the fall. We hope to confirm 3 weeks in Brazil on the Vans Zona Punk tour, followed by shows in any other South American countries that will have us. The last show of Earth Tour will be in South Africa. By that time, if we aren't dead, we'll have played 6 continents in one year and made the world a much, much better place by making a lot of American Internet experts on various topics who have never done anything of note with their lives (you) insanely jealous and angry.

In other news, we are also pleased to announce that Christopher Lyle Prophet has left HORSE the band and has given a statement to the press outside of his West Hills home this morning, saying the decision to leave came after two other decisions were made up in his mind; the decision to "pursue other interests" and also the decision to have "cereal for breakfast". Ironically, replacing Mr. Prophet on this tour exclusively will be Mr. Jon Karel, drummer of the Number 12 Looks Like You. We have released this statement to the press: "Mr. Karel is probably like one of the top 10 drummers who has ever lived. It is thus fitting that he should now choose to play with HORSE the band. We are very grateful to him for agreeing to go on the hellish nightmare experience of seeing the world for free with us. We wish Mr. Prophet future endeavors, in general."

To everyone wondering how we are paying for $50,000 of flights up front, we are using the HORSE the band Visa Platinum Business Rewards Card, which is maxed out at $22,750, as well as Erik's American Express Blue and David's CITI Diamond Preferred Rewards Mastercard. Not our parents. Also, we aren't rich, and we do plan to make all our money back and have extra at the end.

Also Monster, AP, and Hot Topic are sponsoring the tour and they all helped us out a lot in different awesome ways. Thanks! If anyone wants to get in on the sponsorship action we are currently accepting money.

Why would the Dead Kennedys even bother playing without Jello?

Probably because they need the money and can get people to come see them ?

- Pink Floyd continued on without Roger Waters
- REM continued on w/out Bill Berry
- Van Halen continued on w/out DLR

etc.

well but I mean REM still had Stipe, I am not discounting the loss of Bill Berry but they still had that signature voice to sell.
