Was anybody else at this show that remembers the setlist?
Or what was the setlist in LA, was it the same by chance?
I remember they played(not in order):
Memorial(open)
The Birth and Death of the Day
Catastrophe and the Cure
Six Days at the Bottom of the Ocean
Yasmin the Light
I'll be at the saturday and sunday shows of theirs in San Francisco.
They opened with "First Breath After Coma", played "Six Days at the Bottom of the Ocean" and "Greet Death" in the middle (along with "Birth and Death of Day" and other new ones that I didn't recognize), and closed with "Memorial". The sequencing was better that way.
This is for the Wiltern show, for the record.

Cool, sounds like a plan. It's GA, which is what I've been spoiled into expecting, and there likely won't be Carl Cox's bass bleeding over from 100 yards away, so I'll actually get to hear her vocals this time. captncrzy and mob may be going, too, which would add to the fun.

it was a short show but it was only $12. they were loud. and spaced the fuck out. one of the best shows i've seen this year so far.
Agreed. I liked how the Richard Simmons workout video synched with the music when the first song was playing.

I am very shocked they are playing the Commodore. And very pleased. I was seriously doubting I was going to be able to see them at Coachella this year. Now, I won't have to worry about it.

It was $25 in Vancouver to. Extremely cheap. I was expecting tickets to be like, $35 or more, since its such a small venue. But they are very reasonably priced.

yeah, here they are also saying all tickets are will call, and when you pick up they will usher you in right away, and there will be no ins-n-outs. they're trying to kill the scalping.

I am guessing they are doing this for the entire tour. Will call only in Vancouver too, and you have to go in straight away when you pick up your tickets. I think its actually a really, really good idea. I don't even see a way scalpers could get around it.

My friend and I were looking at ticketmaster about a month back and they had the Raconteurs playing the El Rey right before Coachella. We were going to buy tickets, but when we went thru with the link, it said this page no longer exists. We reloaded, and it wasn't there anymore. Coincidence? Probably, but people on this board like to freak out about things that aren't going to happen, so enjoy.
I'll be going to Vampire Weekend tonight, Jens Lekman tomorrow and RTX/The Mae Shi on saturday.

They are solidly good, but have yet to be amazing. I've seen them twice already, both times headlining shows, and they play the songs straight, but with added energy that not every band has live. Once they figure out their dynamic a little more, I can see them becoming a fantastic live act.

I saw Vampire weekend tonight. They were very, very good, had more presence on stage and played well. Of the three times I've seen them, this was the best. They played two new songs and the twelve songs that they already have, so it was a complete set. Ezra said that they played every song they have as of right now, and they seemed genuinely surprised and honored by the crowd reaction, which was ecstatic. This is what I was hoping for from the show tonight.

Jonah Hill was very loud and had a huge posse. Andy was quieter but they sat together in a table upstairs. I had a friend in from out of town and that was his first celebrity sighting so he got really excited. Our other friend actually went up to Andy and told him a joke. I don't know why. Andy didn't look like he found it that funny.
Lickey, they were ok. Once I got buzzed they got better. I really don't understand the hype though. They're nothing special, at all. There were a tonnnnnn of people there last night. I actually got to go up into their dressing room earlier in the day to get them to sign their poster that we put up outside. They were nice boys. They also drink tropical flavored Emergen-C.

See? And you said I shouldnt judge them by their amoebea performance, pssssh. Everyone is still going to be on this bands jock though at the end of april when they play Mojave, maybe they get slapped onto main stage like Silversun and see how they do out on a big stage like that.

And have a good time at Boredoms tonight. I was going to try to make it down... but I couldn't get stuff figured out in time. Oh well. I am sure I will have more opotunities to see them in the future. I really thought they were gonna be at Coachella this year.
You failed here. They haven't really toured since 2005, and before that since 1998. They are RARE. And the best concert experience.

Jared, you need to do a report back for me about Merch. Tell me if they have the light yellow shirt with the green writing. Also, tell me how the show starts. Fuck it, tell me everything about the show. I wish I were in Seattle tonight.
Still had the shirt. I did not buy anything. It was all pricey, although I really dug the brown shirt with green on it.
The show started with eYe and his glowing balls, going into some insane 3 way toms. The whole thing is a blur. I can't hear anymore. I've never danced so much. I am a changed man. The guitar tree was nuts. By the end of show 75% of the strings were broken. The last bit with Yoshimi and eYe yelling back and forth was absolutely unreal. They played just over 2 hours. With a 30 minute encore. I wish I had gone to portland last night.
I am exhausted. I feel like my soul just got the equivalent of an enema.

Jens Lekman was fabulous last night at the Fonda. I don't want to give everything away because his set will probably be similar at Coachella, but he had four ladies playing bass, drums, and strings, and a dude playing samples off of a laptop. It was interesting to see how he changed the songs to make them work in a live setting with that small of a band. He played some songs solo (Shirin was amazing) and even did some accapella. As much as I loved the band, the solo songs were almost my favorite because they really let you hear how great his voice is. He told lots of hilarious stories and was very charming and humble. Very entertaining set by a very talented guy.

If you find out about a show that's really big and you fax in the order you will probably get tickets. Waiting for ticketmaster or other sources you won't get it.

I think the actual raconteurs on-sale was a two ticket limit as well. and with their will-call-ushered-in policy, there's very little chance of me getting into the show. unless I make friends with one of the 342 people who got tickets. not likely.

Has anybody received tickets from Ticket Web recently?
I ask because the last two sets of tickets that I have ordered have come with what looks like a cigarette burn, which has melted through the plastic address window. This of course leaves a black mark on all of the heat printed material inside of the envelope.
I thought that my mail carrier had taken up smoking with the first envelope I received and now with the second I think that maybe its a result of some sort of mail sorting device at the post office.
Has anyone else encountered this problem or have any idea as to what may be causing these 'cigarette burns' ?

I saw tokyo police club last night and beach house on friday night. Both put on excellent shows. Beach House sounded much better live than they do on their albums. I thought I was going to be bored, but the opposite ended up happening. The girls voice is hauntingly beautiful and is very powerful live.
Tokyo police club also put on a good show. They had those vertical LED lights that everyone has nowadays. One of their guitarists couldn't make the show so their guitar tech filled in. It was pretty funnny because he was like 40 something years old and looked like Kirk Hammet and was playing these indie pop riffs with ease.

So last night was Entrance (finally).
1st opener: some dude playing guitar with his back to us while twiddling knobs and pushing buttons to make it distorted and feedback-y. He played one song for about 40 minutes. It was ok, but it made me sleepy. 6.5/10
2nd opener: local band named Astra. They too are fans of extremely long songs, and played for about an hour, much to my chagrin. In their non-noise interludes they sounded kind of like The Eagles, which was weird. 6/10
And then Entrance played. The setlist is as follows:
Valium Blues
Silence on a Crowded Train
Grim Reaper Blues
?
Pretty Baby
MLK
Lookout
I would've liked more songs, but the show was running really late and they played for maybe just over an hour. It was really great because they re-interpret their recorded material and it's sort of like a theme and variations thing, where it's still clearly recognizable but with lots of extra shredding and grooving thrown in. Guy Blakeslee is something of a madman, and spent quite some time rambling that yesterday was the start of a new year, and that Jesus/Mohammed/Jehovah/long hair are all just the sun, and we should worship the sun. He also smells really good, and I'm pretty sure his curls are magic.
Anyway they melted my face off. My ears are still ringing, because I took out my earplugs since it seemed like you need the volume to fully appreciate it. 9/10 (one point docked for a shorter set)

saw the Bob Mould Band tonight. They played a mixture of Sugar, Husker Du and solo songs. It was really really good and quite loud. The more I listen to him, the more I admire his ability to write great pop songs.
They played the following Sugar songs that I can remember:
The Act We Act
A Good Idea
Your Favorite Thing
Can't Help You Anymore
If I Can't Change Your Mind
And the following Husker Du songs that I can remember:
I Apologize
Celebrated Summer
Divide and Conquer
Makes No Sense At All
I know I am forgetting something from the Husker Du songs. All the solo songs sounded great as well. See Bob Mould in your town.
PS I am surprised he hasn't played Coachella and that he wasn't on the lineup this year. I know he goes pretty much every year, and he would be great. Someday.

Everclear scheduled to perform an April 5 show that will benefit Seattle's New Horizons Ministries, according to a press release. The show will be held at Mars Hill Church's newest location, which is the site of the former Tabella Nightclub. The funds raised will benefit New Horizons Ministries' ongoing efforts to serve and assist Seattle's street youth population.
The show will be one in a handful of dates that Everclear will do in advance of the April 15 release of "The Vegas Years," a CD collection of 14 covers recorded between 1994 and this year.

Wow, this came out of nowhere...
the Troubadour is honored to present...
+Mudcrutch - April 25th, 26th, 28th & 29th
Mudcrutch features Tom Petty, Tom Leadon, and Randall Marsh and original Heartbreakers Mike Campbell & Benmont Tench. In the early 70's, they were heroes in their hometown of Gainesville, Florida. Mudcrutch seemed poised for more. But the band never cracked the national music scene or made a full album. ... Now, more than 30 years later and quite unexpectedly, the Mudcrutch story continues. On April 29th they release their first full length album. This run at the Troub marks their first show in LA in almost 35 years. This is an event not to be missed!!!

I was there, too, my first time seeing NIN. I went with a friend who had traveled to see them in 3 different cities in 3 consecutive days on the Downward Spiral tour. This was back when I made little money and wasn't keeping tabs on when tickets went on sale for concerts I'd be interested in, so we had nosebleed seats. I don't actually remember seeing APC. We may have gotten there late; as I recall, the Western Conference Finals were going on that night, between Portland and the Lakers, and we were caught up in watching that before heading to the show.
