Once this album fails, Chris Cornell will probably realize that it would be in his best interest to reunite Soundgarden and remind people of his talent.

Honestly, at this point I don't even know if I want a Soundgarden reunion. Who knows what he will do to the classics? I heard Superunknown on the radio on the way home today, and it really is unbelievable to think that Cornell is responsible for such great work when you look at what he has become.

Good Luck! It shouldnt be very hard though

Well considering its a 2,000 person venue, in hhis homewotn, where he just sol dout a 17,000 capacity venue, do the math on how tough it could be to get tickets.... If you lived in this town, you wouldnt be able to get into s**t cause thigns sell out so fast sometimes. But then again, if you did live here, you would be preoccupying yourself with trying to stalk and rape beck.

I went to see Pacha Massive + Federico Auble with Natalia Clavier at the Ford Amphitheater. Great show. I don't know why they don't do more shows there, such a great place. Thinking back the last show I saw there was Blur with Whale. That's how long it's been since I've seem a show there!

I got a flyer for the after party at Gallery Ten.

So I went to Jack's third show today. It was fun, a few surprises...

2 cover bands played to start the day out, Fast Times and Queen Nation.

The Lowrider band played as a surprise. Basically only 1 original member is currently in the band named war that is touring right now. The Lowrider band is the the rest of the surviving members who formed this band because they legally can't use the name war.

I didn't realize that Steve Stevens was touring again with Idol. That was awesome! I need to pay more attention.

All in All I had fun...

If you didn't know the other bands playing were Devo (awesome of course), Blondie, Reo Speedwagon, Twisted Sister and the psychedelic furs.

Dee Snider was quite hilarious.

Oh also, I forgot, this group called Sian Alice Group opened up for APTBS. They were really good. Very mellow music, but had very intense periods. They kind of reminded me of Spiritualized at points. I think a lot of people here would like them. I downloaded their album and they are great to listen to while studying.

Yikes! The Smiths or Massive Attack/Gorillaz?!?!?! I hope I never really have to make that call. Actually, this is no question, the Smiths are awesome but seeing Massive Attack & Gorillaz back to back would be a uniquely Coachella event. Its got to be the latter.

Cold War Kids are absolutely brilliant in a small space. I don't want to spoil it for people later in the tour but suffice it to say I CAN'T WAIT for my next chance to see them. All of their material, new and old, sounded extremely tight. So much fun.

Honestly, with this new album they could fully play Coachella 09. The set lasted an hour and fifteen minutes and played mostly new stuff. Totally different from what we got at Coach 08, but just as good if not better. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH they were so good!!!!!

JSam67
09-29-2008, 11:34 PM
I don't care for their preachy ways, but CWK pulled off a pretty good show when I saw them last year. Granted, it was free, and right before the FLips, but I still enjoyed it.

And yeah BW, I'm glad you're feeling the Gorillaz --> Massive Attack too. Talking Heads is the best possible headliner though, I will feel that way until David Byrne starts to sound like Roger Waters.

boarderwoozel3
09-29-2008, 11:56 PM
Sitting here envisioning Talking Heads taking the main stage is literally making me a bit giddy. Bowie would do the same thing. If they were both at Coach 09, upon that announcement the internet as a whole would probably crash based on the hits at coachella.com. And I may become an early 20's cardiac arrest victim. Fuck it. I'll take a super mild heart attack for the team if it means getting Bowie & Talking Heads at the same Coachella. (But it would have to be a super mild heart attack with no side effect, more like bad chest congestion)

I was very happy to see Portishead on last year's poster, but TH or Bowie (or both!) would set off a whole new level of Coachella excitement for me.

Jay-Z will play two free concerts this weekend in support of voter registration and the campaign of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama for the upcoming U.S. presidential election.

The first show is set for Saturday (Oct. 4) at Detroit's Cobo Arena. Jay-Z will play Miami's Bayfront Park Amphitheatre the following day. Voter registration for the upcoming election ends Monday.

In Michigan, attendees 18 years and older can obtain tickets at a variety of Obama campaign offices; information is available here. For ticket pickup procedures for the Miami show, click here.

Jay-Z is the latest high-profile artist to sign on for Obama benefits. Yesterday, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel announced an Oct. 16 fundraiser at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom.

Jamie Lidell at the Fillmore was killer last night, but the kinda surprise of the night was the amazing opening performance of Janelle Monae. I had listen to her EP and really liked it, but was even more impressed when her performance matched the character of her album. Great stage presence, beautiful voice and super nice in person. She got her start with Outkast and if you haven't heard of her yet, check out Metropolis Suite I of IV: The Chase... it's awesome.

Ya, he had the same band that was with him at Lolla. They rocked out the weird vocoder thing and Jamie and him did the back and forth where Jamie would sing and then he would match it and embellish with the vocoder-esque instrument.

saw 'em play out in the street in seattle the other day. twas nuts. good times...

Haha you passed them doing that eh? It also attracted quite the crowd of bystanders in Vancouver tonight. Thats how the ended the show. The lead singer and drummer ran outside with the snare, then the guitarist followed, as did the rest of the crowd. They passed out drum sticks and everyone was drumming on random objects outside... like bikes, lightposts and billboards. The lead singer climbed up a construction block and jumped into the crowd and was crowdsurfed inside. That was the end of the show.
The antics inside were crazy though. The band started off on the floor... as usual. But after their first song, they thought the crowd was too far back, so they pulled all their stuff to the middle of the floor. On the third song, they took the bass drum off, stuck it on the bar, and the guitarist played guitar on the bar, while also doing the bassdrum. Meanwhile, the lead singer is picking up people from the crowd... clibing on the outside of the belcony and throwing trash cans around. After this, they repositioned their equiptment where people normally sit to drink. I grabbed the drummer cymbals for him, and he said thanks and gave me a high five.
As I said... this show must be experienced.

Plus, the hipsters in SF are harmless.

I was unaware there are eight different ways to masturbate with a guitar. Or is it just the same way repeated eight times?

I like Frances the Mute, but it could use some serious editing (L'via and Cassandra Gemini especially).

I've hated everything since that.

So I just got back from Swell Season at the Open Air Theatre in San Diego. That was my seventh time seeing them in a year and a half, and it was by far the best show I've ever seen of theirs. Fucking ridiculous. The crowd was totally in to it - after a while Glen commented about how this was supposed to be a big arena rock show for them and it felt more like he was just hanging out with us. Everyone was super respectful (minus one guy who yelled at Glen to stop telling an intro story and just play the song, and ended up getting ridiculed for the rest of the show) and the band played a TON of new songs. Almost all of the Frames were there. I love how Swell Season shows now are essentially Frames shows featuring Marketa Irglova. One of their new songs nearly brought me to tears (five-part harmony), and I was simply amazed that I could still get chills after seeing them so many times. And Iron and Wine was better than I could have imagined. He left the stage to a full standing ovation. I am beyond excited for the Greek show tonight. If anyone here is going - you are in for a HUGE fucking treat.

Just got back from Swell Season at the Greek. Just as good as last night. Maybe even better, actually. They played a longer set. Glen played Say It To Me Now acoustic. Like...unplugged acoustic. Just walked out to the edge of the stage at the fucking GREEK and belted it out for everyone up at the top of section C. It was amazing. The first time he ever did that was at the El Rey show last year when his cord broke so he decided to just go for it without amplification. It's nice to see he's keeping that around cause it makes it fucking unreal. They did a lot of new ones again, switched up the order, Marketa sang the entire version of "The Hill" (the one in Once where she's sitting at the piano and breaks down in tears halfway through), and at the end of the show, they brough out the fucking dude who wrote the songs in Jungle Book and Mary Poppins, and he sat down at the piano and sang Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious with them. It was probably the biggest "what the fuck?" moment of my entire life. The whole band just kinda sat there in awe of him. The crowd was pretty rad again. Totally sold out. A few people gave him shit again for his stories (they did last night too) and after a while he kinda took it personally and shut up, but by the end of the show everything was just going so right that they were floored. I had pit tickets and was fully expecting to stand for the entire show, and was pleasantly surprised to see seats set down for us. I ended up getting front row, about eight seats off from center. Pretty rad.

I got a set list too for this show. Here's what they played, more or less.

Say It To Me Now (with PA) - he ended up playing this way further down the set, and they actually started off with Into the Mystic
Falling Slowly
The Moon
When Your Mind's Made Up
This Low
I Have Loved You Wrong*
Glen Section !!! (this was comprised of Say It To Me Now, Astralweeks by Van Morrison, and Back Broke*)
Happiness*
In These Arms*
Low Rising*
Lies

Last night I had an all night dance party on Freemont Street, here in Las Vegas. They had this mini festival called X-Fest. The line-up was sketchy as hell but I am so glad I went. Imagine Street Scene on Freemont Street. I saw a dj set by Biz Markie underneath a rotating glass slipper (not really glass but an old strip sign). I also saw Pepper rip it up in the middle of the street while it was raining. Every stage had 2 strippers dancing during the sets. We also saw Stevie B. Thats right mutha fuckers!!! Spring Love...

MSTRKRFT's Showbox Market show was good the other night. They have mixed up their set somewhat. Though, they weren't passing around the Crown ; )

Enjoyed seeing the Goldrush Tour last night at the Showbox Sodo. We got there in time for Alice Smith, she's very chill w/ a great voice and sings well with the bluesy guitarist. Mates of State were great, I was hoping that the extra band members would be there too and they were, so that was a good surprise. Santogold was coolio and very fun, she said that she had been in town for two days and was really enjoying Seattle. She played a Kinks cover that I don't remember hearing at BFD. Good stuff.

Sigur Ros tonight from the front row at the Benaroya Hall!!!
