I'm looking for a free/trial run file converter for mp3 to wav or even wmv that doesn't do any fucking crap like only convert 60% of the songs, or worse, have some damn computerized voice advertise the fucker in the middle of a song. Google is hopeless because too many of those fucking converters have these catches, and I can't sort them out...

I like xillsoft. I have a trial thing that will only let you do five songs before stopping you, but then you just take 10 seconds to restart the program. I'm pretty sure it would do mp3 to wav. Good program.

Do you have to continually go back to the webpage you d/led it from (and I take it you bookmarked it in this case) or is there an option to restart the program?

No, you just literally exit the program and start it back up again and then it clears the slate.

the great thing about macs are how large the open source community is. there is so much free software available that does these kinds of things.

there are even companies who sell the same software on PC, but use the opportunity to test and have an open-source audience build out features in OSX.

so if you are on a mac, I can hep. otherwise, I'm just shooting shit.

Not yet, I think I'll try these in reverse order, though.

I'm a bit late but Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) is free, open source software for editing and converting audio.

There's no catch. It'll convert all of whatever you want (except not wma or m4a.) You can use it for recording. You can edit with multiple tracks. It's easy to use. It's great.

dbPoweramp is the best.
