Im taking a road trip through Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, and Arches National Park (Moab) in about a week. I was wondering if anybody on this board knew how the road conditions might be this time of year. I dont have 4wheel drive so Im a little weary about getting stuck in a storm.

Also, here's a map of the area and the parks (just scroll out to get an idea od Southern Utah. Does anyone have advice on whats worth seeing and what's not in your own opinion. Anybody know much about Capitol Reef? I have 7 days then I have to get back to California. So time is of the essence, and i dont mind driving 6 hrs a day.

Thanks

I drove through Zion National Park 2 years ago, and the roads were fine. Obviously you need to check local weather and such.

Zion and Bryce Canyon are absolutely beautiful. I camped both places with my family as a teenager.

Thanks guys. Ya, I definitely intend on taking lots of pictures. My job allows me to only take vacations in the Fall/Winter so I try to make the most of it by driving and seeing as much as I can. Plus I really enjoy the desert. Part of the allure of Coachella for me.

Well I got back late last week, and have to say that of all the places I've been in the U.S. the Moab, UT area has the most intriguing/other-worldy landscapes. Here are a few of the pics I took with a pretty basic Kodak easy share camera. Ended up seeing Zion, Arches, and Canyonlands NP's. The Pics are in that order.

Is there enough room in your vehicle for all your wives and children?

It was strange, that coyote literally crossed the street ran around the back of my car and sat down off the side of the road and stared at us. So I rolled down the window and started talking to him like a 60 year old lady talks to her poodle "Mitsy". And he LOVED it! After I took his picture and told him what a "good boy" he was, he followed my car for about 100 yards and then gave up. Im guessing someone has fed him in the past. Not cool considering how he darts out in front of cars to try and make friends now.

I love Utah. Zion and Moab are some of the most beautiful places in the world.

They also have some of the greatest mountain bike trails in the world. Sticky!!

I've only driven straight through Utah and I hated it. Looks like not all of it sucks.

yeah, I've been up there several times...pretty awesome, huh? how windy was it at the top? I've been up there a few times that you literally had to lie down clinging to the rocks to avoid being blown to our deaths....a few times on some of the narrow parts, some of our group decided not to continue and stayed and waited for us....I think I might go again in the summer.....but I think I'm gonna do the Zion Narrows with my brother, uncle and cousins....thats amazing in a very different way

Utah has some of the most beautiful natural scenery of any state I've ever been through.....it definitely doesn't suck

Driving the I5 through salt lake and everything else sucks. Salt lake smells bad and their roads are ALWAYS under construction.

Salt Lake is definitely the least interesting part....southern Utah is where most of the awesome scenery is

I haven't been there but it looks phenomenal. I found that the scenery definitely got more interesting as you got closer to Nevada. I've made the drive a few times now and Utah is always my least favorite part. For some reason my cell phone never works in Utah either which is weird.
