Fatboy Slim is gonna tear up that sahara tent on Friday. He is by far the best act on that friday bill. I remember seeing him in 2001 and it was one of the best Dj sets I've ever seen. He knows how to move ya body. see ya there! unless you wanna catch Jack Johnson piece of crap set!

So i was told that Fatboy Slim doesnt bust out tracks like Rockafella Skank, Weapon of Choice or Praise You at his shows... is this true?

If he does, there like teases, sorta like a line here and there...and of course, the ubiquitous, "FATBOY SLIM IN FUCKIN HEAVEN" gets speckled throughout the set.
His set was arguably the best in the Sahara tent in 2001. He threw in mixes of Daft Punk into Madonna... along with Chemicals and of course... his STAR 69 blew the fuckin tent apart.

He is a must see. His set time will NOT be long enough.

It'll be dope, I just hope that its not overcrowded because of Jackie boy on the main stage. Hopefully they have Teagan and Sara or some such act to suck all the scensters to the outdoor theater.

Does anyone know if he does songs off of Better Living or You've Come A Long Way?? I've listened to Fatboy Slim since I was in 8th Grade when You've Come A Long Way came out and have never had the chance to see him. Def. the set I'm most forward to looking to.

If he does deathvalley, they are radically different than the album, and most likely just a snippet of it, just to let you know his presence. His set is really fun!

I really want him to play Weapon of choice, and want to see Christopher Walken get out on stage and dance!
That would be a history making Coachella moment! Forget Daft Punk! Remember when Christopher Walken came out on stage with Fatboy Slim?!?!?!?

He will spin all the classic via remix as he did in 2001. no worries.

"Halfway between the Gutter and the Stars" Every song on that album is dope. So I suggest you buy or download that one.

Fatboy Slim WILL close the Sahara. And it will destroy.
That is unless someone like Underworld or Kanye get added to Friday. Then they will close the Sahara.

02-12-2008, 10:46 AM
you really think Kanye would close the sahara? I dont.
rage patton
02-12-2008, 10:48 AM
If he were added to Friday, they wouldnt put him above Jack Johnson. But Kanye probably wouldn't play the mainstage before JJ either.
If he brought his glow in the dark set to the Sahara, I am sure a lot of people would "forgive" GV for JJ. I am not a Kanye west fan at all, but if that did happena and Kanye conflicted with JJ, I would go with Kanye. The Glow In The Dark Tour sounds like a cool idea.
kreutz2112
02-12-2008, 10:50 AM
I could see JJ being billed higher than Kanye, but Kanye closing out the main stage on Friday after Jack. Sort of like Tiesto and RHCP last year and Kraftwerk and Portishead this year.
rage patton
02-12-2008, 10:51 AM
I guess. But Kanye in the Sahara sounds way cooler.
If Madonna can play in the Sahara, Kanye sure as hell can.
kreutz2112

Madonnas music is more dance-oriented than Kanye's, especially her most recent work.
rage patton
02-12-2008, 10:56 AM
Either way, he is probably not going to be added. He is headlining Bonnaroo... why would Coachella get 2 of the same headliners as Bonnaroo?

I hope he is not added. I JUST want Underworld to be added. UNDERWORLD IS THE ONLY ADDITION I WANT TO HAPPEN.

we dont know that kraftwerk will close out after portishead, they may be in the sahara again. But I know what you mean, blackstar closed out the mainstage in 2004 I believe after radiohead.

Paul T said in the press conference Kraftwerk will be on the mainstage. I am not sure if he said it in the pree conference, but many are taking it for fact that Kraftwerk will be playing after Portishead. I think that would work best.

only reason that would stop me from seeing fatboy slim is if Mum or the National are on some other stage at the same time, i will try to stay in one piece all 3 days this year... and for the fucking record for all the people who dont think that Fatboy slim will rip you apart your probably the same type of people who enjoy Chuck Norris jokes(i dont know why you just seem to fall down that slippery slope) but this is fact...
Chuck Norris was hospitilized for a week after seeing Fatboy Slim live...

I think so too, wonder who they will be competing with in sahara. Well Paul also said there were more tricks up his sleeve, but this does sound more credible than his tricks statement

you could always split your time up between sets its not like the stages stop and start at the same time anyway...Id say catch the last half of national if you do have conflicts because they seem to always close stronger than they start the three times Ive seen em. I love mr. november off aligator and they usually close with that.

Most every festival i have gone too(with a few exceptions) tends to put an electronic musician last its just a nice way to end the day, Black Star in 05, Daft Punk 06 (most stages were closed but they did play in sahara fyi for those who did not go), Tiesto 07, and if i had to bet i would say that Kraftwerk will NOT be closing mainstage after portishead, i think that it will be on Friday we will see the bands close early and Fatboy only person who plays til midnight in the sahara like in '06, but thats just a guess. I mean fucking portishead should go til midnight as the last act. Hot Chip was not even in the Sahara either

Its really really hard to just split out of the sahara and go to another tent, especially if you want a good place at the national which i do but it might come down to that, i remember i thought i would split on blonde redhead to catch hot chip... nope just stuck with hot chip but i was glad OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER!

Last time I saw Fatboy was in 97 @ the joint in the Hard Rock casino. He played all his monster hits and he fuckin destroyed. He must be like a million times better now!
I highly doubt there will be ANYTHING else worth seeing at the same time.

He almost never tours an area. He'll go to Brazil and spin at 2 or 3 places that are pretty well spaced out geographically. He'll do the same in every country that he visits and will not go back for at least 4 or 5 years.
