my bro & i went to both days of the first coachella fest in '99 & haven't missed a day since... even for a few years when i was living in st. louis i managed to come out just for coachella. now this is the first year we've even discussed NOT going all 3 days, but decided to keep up our status & go anyway (2 days outta 3 ain't bad)... just wondering if there's any of us left that have been every day every year...

I've been to every Coachella.
For me, every year has been outstanding.....with 2006 at the top.
As for this years lineup?
This is gonna be a really good year...maybe the best yet.

Die Hard here.
When I say diehard I was either living in NY or Ohio for every Coachella. Dropped some major cash over the years and it's always been worth it. Looks like I'm skipping this year though. not enough punch to make drop the $1200-$1500 to get there this year, esp. when I have other festival options (more than ever) this year.
More on the line-up:
The Portishead thing is way cool - a real winner in my book, GV obviously listened to the cries of those here and made it happen. Now however cool that having Portishead play can be, it is unfortuantely overshadowed by the ludacris choice of Jack Johnson. Let's not beat around the bush here. I think having Jack Johnson is a huge mistake for the festival, bigger than the Madonna fiasco by leaps and bounds. I've talked with a lot of people (outside this board) and everyone is like WTF? I've never seen this kind of negative feedback before? I realize its just one act of many, but it's the name that will be associated with 2008, and it's a mistake. He's not the only reason I'm not going, I have plenty. I can't believe I am typing this - makes me a bit sad really. I think I have promoted Coachella harder than anyone, actually I know I have.
Favorite year...
that's easy, the first one. 1999 had Underworld, Lamb, Morrissey, Spiritualized, DJ Shadow, and SFA, so nuff said. I also have always dug 2002 and 2003, because that was right before the crowds swelled to the cramped numbers it has been since Radiohead showed up in 2004. Before 2004 - you could actually see the artists in the tents! Crazy I know.

1999 is the only year I never went to....I was too young and hadn't heard of the festival yet...

Its really hard for me to pull the trigger this year gang - I needed the line up to knock me on my ass - it didn't.
I have a one year old and he babbled something about Radiohead in Cleveland and about 75% of the acts this year playing $5-$10 shows near my city.
Just this past weekend we had Times New Viking, Louis XIV, Hot Hot Heat and Editors all on one bill - for get this - $12!!! In the next couple weeks I am going to Vampire Weekend ($8), British Sea Power ($12), Dirtbombs ($10), National ($12), etc...
The only reason/s I would want to go:
1. Portishead (even though I've seen them before when it really counted)
2. Verve (I've seen them 3 times before with the full, original line up)
3. Gogol (even though I've seen them 4 times in the last 2 years)
4. Justice (they were there last year, plus are they even playing still?)
5. Reverend and the Makers (not for Coachella prices)
6. Does It Offend You Yeah? (not for Coachella prices)
I've seen Roger Waters and I cant stand JJ.
So this year plopping down a nice bit of change ($1500) doesn't seem worth it. Not that it wouldn't be fun, it would. But I'm going to hit a ton of those acts here for a lot less money over the next few months and I'll actually be able to see them as well.
