I did a Search and nothing came up, so the board douche police can lay off if this has been posted somewhere already.

From IMDB:
Actor Jason Bateman has confirmed plans are underway for a movie version of cancelled TV sitcom Arrested Development. A rumored meeting between the star and series creator Mitch Hurwitz late last year fuelled speculation a big-screen adaptation of the cult show was in the pipeline. And now the Juno star has confirmed the cast has received calls from executives asking if they would be interested in reviving their roles once the ongoing Hollywood writers strike is over. He tells E! News, "I can confirm that a round of sniffing has started. Any talk is targeting a post-strike situation, of course. I think, as always, that it's a question of whether the people with the money are willing to give our leader, Mitch Hurwitz, what he deserves for his participation. And I can speak for the cast when I say our fingers are crossed."

God damn, this would be amazing.

EDIT: I was wrong...There are two messages about this buried in a movie thread somewhere. This should be enough for Suprefan and his posse to show their might and flame me.

Whether or not it was posted before, this is really old news. And I'm not saying that in a Suprefan/Board Police way. I mean it's literally old news...the writer's strike is long over.

Problem is, nothing ever happened after the strike ended. If there is ever any more movement on this project, it will deserve as many duplicate threads as people want to start.

(Bateman was on Olberman a couple months ago and indicated there was still no signs of life.)

EDIT Ooops...this is an old thread too. I'm an ass.

EDIT AGAIN Fuck. Read the whole thread next time, Sparks.

Still, I'll believe it when I see it.

From AintItCool

“Arrested Development” mastermind Mitch Hurwitz has reportedly closed a deal to write and direct a big-screen version of the sitcom “Arrested Development” for Fox Searchlight.

For those unfamiliar, the TV show followed a wacky family of real estate developers.

No word yet on whether the project will be able to lure back big-deal movie star Michael Cera (“Superbad,” “Juno”), who played George Michael Bluth.

Capone: A lot of your "Arrested Development" actors have had quite a bit to say about the possibility of a big screen version happening. What's the update?

Ron Howard: Yeah, we're closer than ever. Mitch is really focused on it, the cast seems really interested, the studio [Fox Searchlight] seems to be on board, and God know they've got a narrator who's just chomping at the bit. [laughs] So we don't have a script yet, but we all want it and we want it to be good. We're pushing in that direction and all really pushing together for the first time in ages. So, I think we've got a very good chance of it happening.

http://www.collider.com/entertainment/news/article.asp/aid/10274/tcid/1

And in a fabulous coincidence, Ron Howard was interviewed courtside during halftime of the Knicks/Wolves game I've got on, and he was asked if a movie was ever going to happen - He said Mitchell Hurwitz was working on a script, and he hoped he'd have some good news to report soon.

It's not exactly concrete, but I guess there's no real harm in keeping the buzz going.

i want to believe that he's just holding out for the script, but i don't know what to believe about the ad movie anymore. if the movie is "more hypothetical than people think," then why does mitch hurwitz keep talking about it like it's a sure thing? gahhh!
i've also heard that michael cera wants to get out of the acting business soon because he's sick of getting the same role all the time, so who knows?

From Wondercon (or something like that)

Before Hurwitz could give a serious response, Will Arnett, who provides one of the voices for the new show, joked, "We are dangerously close to confirming that? we have read the rumors on the internet."

"Here's what's going on with the movie," Hurwitz told the audience of his fans. "Everyone goes off and has careers and that kind of thing, so it's been a little challenging to schedule everybody together, but everyone who has agreed to make this movie has agreed to make this movie, and we're going to make the movie. I haven't written it yet, so I'll be accepting pitches. We're determined to do this."

"It was a great joy and priviledge, all kidding aside, to do a show that took risks and with such a wonderful cast and wonderful writers," he continued. "For us, it's irresistible. Here's an interesting thing about it. When we did the show, one of the things that really made it work is that we didn't hold ourselves up to any standard. We got a lot of positive critical recommendations, but we even kind of ignored those and just did what was funny to us, and kind of remained the underdog in a great way. It was very clear early on that we weren't going to be a big hit, so it really was a labor of love. Now suddenly, there is a bar to hit. I think the key to this is once we get as many pieces as we're going to, which appears we have, we'll just dive in and have fun and see if we can create the same thing. But we're excited about it."

Same ol' thing really but I like that they keep hope alive

I started rewatching this series last night. It's full of so much fucking gold. I really think Season 3 sucked though. I found the Charlize Theron episodes to be mostly unwatchable but at that point they knew it was just about over and the product placement and celebrity appearances weren't gonna help. They created more obstacles for the writers than anything I think. One and Two are damn near flawless though.

here we go

Speaking exclusively with ComingSoon.net on Sunday at the press junket for When in Rome, Will Arnett confirmed that an Arrested Development feature film should go into production sometime this year.

"I'm so glad you asked that," joked Arnett, who has been questioned about the series' fate since it went off the air in 2006. "It's very refreshing. We are working on the movie right now, yeah... We don't have a completed script yet, but it's forthcoming and we're going to make the movie this year."
