IIRC, the "elaborate stage set-up" thing came from Paul Tollett during the news conference in which the lineup was announced, when he also revealed that Kraftwerk will be playing on the main stage.

has the term "elaborate setup" become the new "agent for change"?

Folks who go to the Minnesota, Denver or Milwaukee shows will need to give us a update...or maybe the set up won't be shown until coachella?

yeah something like that....i think the least they can do is play a different set than the last tour and live cd/dvd....bust out with computer love, telephone call, spacelab, electric cafe, etc......but to be honest as much as i heart kraftwerk, if it's the same show i'll most likely see what else is going on.......don't need to hear trance europe express live again....

those green light-up suits are pretty nifty.
I honestly expect the same setup we had in 2004, despite Tollett's remark. he's trying too hard to recreate the magic that was Daft Punk in 2006.

I have this feeling that they are going to put on some sort of visual show that we have never seen before. I'm hoping that they don't come back with the same thing. Goldenvoice I think is gonna go all out on Kraftwerk and Waters.

This question is funny. When it comes to elaborate stage shows, yeah, Goldenvoice kinda does have a lot to do with it since they're the ones ponying up the money for the performance.
I know for a fact that GV is planning on going beyond the pale in terms of production for Waters. Like nothing Coachella has ever seen before.

Waters is doing a couple of shows in States after Coachella, then heading to Europe. Is he going to be bringing this production on the road with him, or will this be a like a one-time-only type deal?

Let's just call it another one of my wild hunches. Not like the Zeppelin kind, but the other ones.
I don't believe the other Waters shows will be on this same scale, no, but I have no real way of knowing. Just don't expect any conflicts during his set. They're planning something significantly more grandiose than Waters solo shows, which are pretty fucking insane on their own in terms of production size.
The Pyramid will no longer be the most insane shit ever seen at Coachella after this year.

even if water's light show destroys daft punk's pyramid show, it still wouldn't top daft punk's show cause they also brought the bomb house music set that destroyed the dance floor....u can't dance to us and them or comfortably numb you know??? i don't know about you, but i'd rather dance my ass off than sit in a field and contemplate my existence....

I rarely agree with you, but holy fuck did i just get chills reading this. I am so fucking pumped for this set of music. This will be my 4th Waters show and i think the best by far. The setting, the music, and this crazy production is gonna be so fucking rad.

Yes, please! Although I have to admit that I`m more interested in the music than in the stage setup, which will be probably - more or less - the same as in 2004.
I`m really curios which songs/ versions they will play. Maybe they are testing out some new material like the "Luton song" 1997 at the Tribal Gathering. If this would be the case, I guess some people would kill for a ticket or at least a good bootleg. :D

I have to agree with boredofcanada and say that I too also found the Daft Punk show very emotional. Namely the Human After All and the Encore. The lights and the images merely added to the overall experience.

Ralf would never allow the group to perform "The Telephone Call", since it's basically Karl Bartos' song.

Well, I think they don`t perform it anymore since Karl Bartos was singing this song. I mean Tour de France (1983) is basically Karlīs song too but they are still playing it.
But I really wish they would play it because it`s one of favorites :(
