I have also sent messages to some bands on myspace, but none have replied yet. If you run across any official confirmations, post them here. I will update this first post as new information surfaces.

Thanks. I can't take credit for the Spiritualized one though. That was posted in a Spiritualized thread a couple days back. I figured one bands confirmation wasn't enough to start a thread. But a second should be sufficient. Hopefully some of the bands I messaged will get back to me. I doubt it though.

I won't believe anything until I see the official set times. I know the Spiritualized info came from their official website, but why they wouldn't play the main stage (or outdoor theatre) is beyond me.

I appreciate the idea of this thread, but until the set-times are actually posted it's quite useless, at which point it will become completely useless.

As do I. If you don't understand the corellation between the size and appeal of a band, their placement on the poster, and their set time and stage placement, you probably need to think harder (or ask someone who isn't retarded for the correct answer.) Either way, you don't have anything to contribute. "so annoying"

So, I assume you have a long list of top billed acts who have played the Mojave before 7pm? Do tell.

Yes, the billing doesn't mean much when you get down past around 8th or 9th. Yes sometimes a bottom billed act closes a tent or something. But that's not what we're talking about.

Last year in this slot...Circa Survive, Peter Bjorn & John, and CSS.

Scars is exactly where i thought... i'm forseeing a Dredg>EnterShakari>Scars on Broadway in the mojave... which probably would've been followed by Turbonegro had they not cancelled...

instead of writing a post speculating on your speculation (like SOME people)^

i've got a tad more info to add...
i wrote a bunch of the bands too, and although some have read the message but did not respond (like Aesop Rock, Black Lips, & The Bees), Midnight Juggernauts wrote and said that they didn't know yet their time slot or stage but were going to be finding out soon...

So it sounds like they're still assigning spots and Spiritualized and Scars on Broadway probably insisted on getting good spots early on that wouldn't conflict with any headliners...

Edit: Slightly Stoopid responded with this: "the line-up for each stage has not been announced yet... we will send out a bulletin when it does get announced." which pretty much means 72-hours prior to show time...

Great work Paul. Thanks.

So, here is my prediction for the outdoor theatre...
5:10-6:00 Metric --> 6:20-7:20 Gogol --> ?
Then Spiritualized will play at 6:00 in the Mojave. Then, depending on what they do with Roger Waters, Justice will either play before Waters or after Waters in the Sahara. That would avoid the dreaded Justice Vs. Gogol Vs. Waters vs. Metric conflict.

I'm not believing anything until they're officially released. Any new adds (which probably won't happen anyway-more likely, it'll be any more cancellations) will totally fuck with any set time they were given.

Last year we knew Infected Mushroom's set times a month before, and it turned out to be dead right. I think there might have been some other confirmations too.
And just because there are new adds, doesn't neccessarily mean they will mess up the current set times. They could plan around the already confirmed set times.

5:00 doesn't seem like "Night" to me. I really, really will piss everywhere if they conflict with Roger Waters or MMJ. I was truly hoping to get a nice run there leading up to Waters, cause those two are certainly the top two draws of the fest for me.

Too bad, cause that's almost a given.

Though I GUESS it's possible L+R and MMJ could conflict on the Main/Outdoor. If they do a Waters silent set. I could see something like this...

MAIN
Waters 9:30- End
MMJ 7:40- 8:30

OUTDOOR
L+R 8:40-9:30
Gogol 7:25-8:15
Metric 6:15-7:05

BUT...in this scenario, it would make more sense to have Spiritualized on the main stage from 6:30-7:20 or something like that. If Spiritualized are really in the Mojave, I would think they'd be a little later.

I wonder if they will just swap L+R and MMJ so L+R play that 6:30 or so slot. It would flow better...I think MMJ is a more sensible lead in to Roger Waters.

I wish I DIDN'T want to see L+R...I have a feeling they are going to be the thing that screws up my schedule no matter where they go. I forsee half sets on Sunday.

love and rockets and mmj will definitely be main stage. There's very few acts that day that scream "main stage" and those are two.

Sunday is weird. Even if waters plays unopposed for 2.5 hours, it's still unpredictable. Even with an average of 7 acts per stage, there is enough time for multiple acts to get an hour or so instead of just l&r

I think Sunday might be an experiment. If it goes over well then headliners may play unopposed in the future

OR...leading to a time when only 3-days are sold, and there is a single "headliner" on Sunday night with a silent slot, and "lesser" subheadliners the other two nights. Which, let's be honest, is the case this year.

I don't know how well it would go down every night. You would have to have THREE massive headliners. Otherwise, people who aren't into the headliners are going to get pissed. But I think you can do it the last night. If you're not into the headliner, you're going to be exhausted by then and it's a chance to get out of the parking lot early.

I know, I've just gotten lucky a few times the last few years with mainstages that I want to hang out at for a few acts in a row, thus ensuring I'm near the front for the headliner (which, frankly, is worth it). Not expecting that to happen this year, just sayin' I was holding out hope.

JOHN DIGWEED'S MYSPACE- Has him and Sasha scheduled for Sat the 26th. It's billed as a 2 hour set, sorta... because he has it listed for him playing 7PM and 8PM? I interpret that as a 2 hour set (me like math...). Anyway, even if that date or time doesn't turn out to be true, they're definately not playing Fri, because they got a gig in San Fran that night.

I will for sure. But I don't really think that Metric message and the John Digweed myspace really count as confirmations. I have messaged a couple bands on myspace, but they haven't replied. So as of right now, Spiritualized and Scars on Broadway are the only confirmations we have.

To take this conversation in a different direction-

JOHN DIGWEED'S MYSPACE- Has him and Sasha scheduled for Sat the 26th. It's billed as a 2 hour set, sorta... because he has it listed for him playing 7PM and 8PM? I interpret that as a 2 hour set (me like math...). Anyway, even if that date or time doesn't turn out to be true, they're definately not playing Fri, because they got a gig in San Fran that night.

Sorry if this info is already well-known. It just seems relevant to this thread.
http://www.myspace.com/johndigweedforever

Crap... looking at the blog posting on this myspace, it was posted 2/22... sorry if I'm posting the obvious.

Well, the times (if they are accurate) are news to me.

But I don't think anyone has ever suggested they were playing Friday. They've been listed on Saturday since day one.

My bet on the set times...the 7pm is accurate. Because when you enter a date in Myspace, 8pm is the default time. So it may have been entered when they were originally booked. And now that they have their 7pm set time, someone entered it again without erasing the old one.

That actually makes perfect sense, to get the Sahara headliner out of the way early before Portiswerk.

I really wonder why people keep trying to put Love and Rockets on the Outdoor Stage. They'll be playing the main stage before Roger Waters.

They've sold far more records than My Morning Jacket. They're the sole "reunion" band this year. This is a one-off show for them. There's no tour coming. There's no album coming.

Coachella has had a standing offer on the table for them for years (at least since 04), and why would they have taken it this year? Simple. To open for Waters.

Love and Rockets will be on the mainstage, but there's no guarantee they will be the lead in for Waters. They could easily be given the same time-slot that Crowded House had last year - 2 sets before the headliner. And last I checked, Portishead just returned from hiatus and are playing a one-off show (in the U.S. anyways), so Love and Rockets aren't exclusive in that department.

Or they would have taken it this year because they put Bauhaus to rest again. And thus decided to be Love & Rockets again.

Bauhaus released their first new album since 1983, titled Go Away White on March 3rd, 2008. This marks the end of the band and there will be no tour to support the album. Drummer Kevin Haskins said in an interview that they "were getting along really well, but there was an incident that occurred." As a result, "some of us just felt that we didn't want to carry on as a working unit". In an interview with SuicideGirls, bassist David J said about the breakup "You have a test tube, and you pour in one chemical, and you pour in another chemical, and something happens. It starts to bubble. Pour in another chemical, and it starts to bubble a bit more. You pour in a fourth chemical, and it bubbles really violently, and then explodes. That's my answer".

If Bauhaus is standing on a stage, and Peter Murphy explodes, all of the sudden you're in the middle of a Love & Rockets "reunion".

Ya I remember last year the sun was beginning to set during the end of Kings of Leon (6:15-7:05) but the beginning of their set was full on heat, but the most beautiful part was actually between them before Arcade Fire started (7:30-8:40), it was actually almost dark by the time they took the stage at 7:30 so I would mark it at 6:50-7:30 sunset.

Yes, "Exhibit B" rules. "Exhibit A" is cheesy but catchy...however, it's a cover song...Motown I think... so not a good example. Pretty much all their videos were awful, though...

Try this..."Dog End Of A Day Gone By." One of my favorites, and the video isn't horribly embarrassing, just dull. If you don't like this...fuck it, you just don't like them.

Unfortunately, there isn't much out there of their late 90's output, which (imo) was stellar.

I'd check out their album Sweet F.A. which had a very dark rock element, with the occasional nod to their more electronic side... which is evidenced on their dance/dub album Lift, and their ambient album Hot Trip to Heaven.

Unfortunately, none of their singles from the 80s have held up well over time.. and these days are my least favorite of the catalog.

kind of off topic, but previous conclusive posts on the subject were kind of poorly formatted, so:

last years' coachella sold out because of RATM.
single day tickets were only available for a limited time, and sunday went FIRST.
then, three day passes, then sat and friday tickets were re-released.
what this means, is that rage fans snapped up the sunday single day tickets, then the 3 days (to max out sunday attendance), and THEN to even out attendance (somewhat) over the three days, single day passes for day 1 and 2 went back on sale.

I went for the whole thing last year, but for every fifth or so person in the camp I talked to, rage's reunion was the #1 reason for attending.

no i am sorry but you are wrong.
the reason it sold out was because of rage. because people could not buy sunday single tickets so they bought the fucking three passes.

i dont think chili peppers on name alone couldve sold it out, maybe saturday but the festival sold out completely because of rage. People wanted the sunday rtickets so they bought all three days because it was cheaper buying a three day pass then buying single sunday tickest on ebay.

You're wrong. 3-day passes sold out because ticketbrokers were buying them up in mass because single day sunday passes were selling for around $200. Do the math, you buy a 3-day pass for $300, sell the Sunday ticket for $200, and you've still got 2 single day passes and 2/3 of your expenses recouped. That's also why Coachella tickets became a buyers market in the weeks leading up to the event.

Hahahahaha. That pretty much sums up about every thread here, ehh?

here is the basic summary of every thread on the board:

first few posts include information related to thread title

then, in complete random order, the following information will be discussed:

- how excited people are to have Prince playing coachella
- who will play next year
- people speculating conflicts
- suprefan talking in an elitist tone
- Randy provoking someone to suck his cock
- which Radiohead album is the best
- jack johnson taking over the world
- FAIL pics/lolcats
- a few posts here and there about original thread topic

and that, my friends, is what a thread on the coachella message board contains, in a nutshell.

Um, I know I'll probably be in trouble for using myspace as a confirmed set time, but Vas Defrens myspace, which is their only website at all, says Sunday Mojave Tent playing at 12:30, which is not a default time. I would tend to believe that.

Ok so I did a little research and this were the only things I could find*:
(Sorry if some of these have already been posted)

The Bird and the Bee 2:00pm
Cafe Tacuba 6:00pm
Kraftwerk 10:00pm
Sharon Jones 6:00pm
Dimitri From Paris 3:00pm
Autolux 5:00pm (Outdoor Theater)
Swervedriver ??? (Mojave Tent)

*All sources are from their MySpace and I tried to make sure they were not the default times.

Holy shit Massive... that is awesome! Thank you! Kraftwerk at 10:00 pm? That doesn't sound to good to me... How would Prince play after that? I am deathy afraid this means Kraftwerk in the Sahara.
Sharon Jones at 6 though? That sounds awesome! If Battles plays right before or right after her, that would avoid my worst fear for night times conflicts.

mmj is on the main before l&r. I know they arent a real subheadliner, but there arent any other alternatives that day.

I think gogol will be on the outdoor, to accommodate crowd surfing better than the main would, maybe after metric but hopefully not at the same time as justice. I doubt that will happen, though, because it would be stupid to put the 2 acts everyone was pissed over missing last year against each other. Maybe at acl.

I think the outdoor theatre is definately going to go Autolux-->Metric-->Gogol. Which would be awesome. I want to see all 3. I am guessing Gogol are probably going to start at 7:30 and play for either 50 minutes or an hour. Bad news... I anticipate Justice playing in the Sahara at 8:00ish. Perhaps we will get lucky, and they wont start till 8:30ish though.

if swervedriver goes on at 4:55 and spiritualized goes on at 6:10, it would explain calling it 5 & 6 and still have the normal 25 min. set change... rarely do bands start exactly at the top of the hour, especially in the mojave...

I wonder which is correct.

ANYWAY, speaking of set times guesses, here's my latest act of boredom. Passive and I collaborated on set times guesses a while back and this week I've made a bunch of changes, primarily due to all the additions and cancellas. Before anyone bitches about how some band is playing the "wrong stage/time", their name was probably just stuck there as a placeholder because the main focus was obviously the acts I'm more familiar with, as opposed to those I didn't care enough to learn about, so...

Sunday:

Brutal conflicts are unavoidable. Hell, we already have Metric vs Spiritualized, apparently.

Boourns... you are genius.

Friday the only act I would be really bummed about missing would be dan le sac. Saturday, I would be bummed about missing carbon/silicon and Sunday I would be incredibly bummed about missing Holy Fuck. Other then that... genius.

EDIT: Ouch. Man Man vs Flogging Molly would kill me.
RE-EDIT: I have a solution. Switch Flogging Molly and Cold War Kid around. It would make more sense anyways.
