I'd go with Joy division out of those (the Beatles are much better, but Joy Division's live show sounded so damn amazing) but i'd still rather see Otis Redding. Booker T. & MGs backing him with the Memphis horns. Hot damn, what a show that would have been.

I saw Nirvana 4 times.
So, I guess if I could resurrect the dead... I'd have to go with Joy Division! : )

This is impossible to answer... The classic rock side of me says Jimi Hendrix... The punk side of me says Joy Division... The generational-affinity thing says Nirvana... And my musical conscience in general says The Beatles... But my first gut reaction was Joy Division... Second is Hendrix... Then Beatles... Then Nirvana... (Sorry, Kurt.)

I've seen Nirvama live twice. Maybe I had lousy seats or something, but they weren't really mindblowing. Entertaining, perhaps.

I chose the Beatles because, well, it's the Beatles. I'm not into them, but I'm sure I've probably heard at least 30 of their songs. I'd also like to see Jimi Hendrix or Joy Division. Good choices on this poll.

He didn't forget to add a subpar third gen ska punk band that frat boys seem to love. O, and The beatles are on my short list for favorite bands of all time, but their best work was done in the studio. They weren't really a live band, even though their early shows were supposed to be great fun.

I guess the two acts I'd like to see more than any other would be Can and Boredoms. It'd be mindblowingly awesome to hear Halleluwah or Super You Are live. I'd probably pass out from excitement.

The Beatles are the greatest band ever, but I'm thinking if you take away the hype and all that. I'm thinking Hendrix and the Experience would put on the better live show.

Damn....thats a good poll....you kind of hate to have to pick. Joy Division was fucking great live...especially during all of that old Warsaw time period.....You dont really have to say anything about Hendrix...ofcourse........Nirvana would be great to see bring it down one more time but im with some other people in the boat of having already seen them..would like to see someone I had no chance of seeing (I was like 3 when Ian Curtis hung himself)

I feel guilty about not voting for the Beatles or Hendrix, both of which I know are technically better music geek choices. But my heart says Joy Division.

Actually, I think Velvet Underground would be up there for me too. And as for solo artists, I'd take Elvis.

REALLY FUCKING GOOD THREAD!!! but its the Beatles for me. i dont feel the need to justify this. but I do think Nirvana would at BEST open for any of the other three. there are too many people on this board that were born in the mid 80s and earlier that grew up on Nirvana, and cling to it for pure nostalgia. w/e im done with the rant... Nirvana is #5 out of these 4 choices... blast me for it.

WHO ARE THESE LUNATICS WHO WOULD RATHER SEE A JOY DIVISION REUNION THAN A BEATLES REUNION!?

bmack86
02-04-2007, 10:47 PM
These aren't reunions. It's a hypothetical "Which band would you like to have seen in their heyday" deal. I would rather have seen Joy Division because, despite the fact that I love the Beatles and their music is so much better than Joy Division's, Ian Curtis and crew put on a better show, at least according to video and audio recordings. The Beatles were more studio performers.

Nirvana is the way to go for me.

Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd
exactly! thank you. Syd was a visionary way ahead of his time. piper at the gates of dawn is just classic. i saw nirvana, and although they are one of my favourite bands they were a disappointment live. i saw them towards the end, 11/27/93 in miami and Kurt looked like he would rather be anywhere but on that stage. i went with Jimi because his shows were always one of a kind, and talent that can't be matched. if the doors were on this list i would have chosen them.

I would most definitely choose Joy Division. I really only care for the Beatles more psychadelic material, and that stuff was recorded with a lot more people than just the 4 of them. If they performed with other musicians on the side of the stage, and they performed their psychadelic stuff, then I would probably pick the Beatles. I guess it's a tie between the two of them.
