Holy cow!!!! She was amazing. She sang & and danced like Otis Redding. Probably one of the best musical performances I've seen.
Was anyone else there?

Agreed. That show-closer was a serious show-stopper. Hardest working woman in show business!

i agree, but saw her at Bimbos in San Francisco, not at the Festival. Goldfrapp was my fave.

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings are a fantastic band whom I've already seen several times at jamband oriented festis. That being said, I thought The Verve was the best show of Friday.

Only caught the end of it right after Verve, but she had so much energy and the crowd was totally into it. At the end she was furiously dancing aroudn the stage.

Definitely the highlight of Friday, especially after Aesop Rock who was unfathomably bad. Rob Sonic has to be the worst hype man ever.

Yes, and I agree, best set of day on what I thought was overall best day of festival (though there were more epic individual shows Sat & Sun)...She's a freakin' force of nature...no other way to describe her, and band was tightest act at entire festival...flawless musicianship.

For sure! I only caught the last 15 minutes, but an AMAZING 15 minutes it was. I loved the very end when she was talking about the peace dancing. It made me smile. =)

i also caught the last 5 or so songs from her. had to go from verve->pendulum->sharon. all i can say is the last 20 mins of so that i saw of her was fuckin sick. the way she was rockin out up there and shakin her booty while her amazing backup band was killin it...man, that shit was awesome.

She killed everyone. They hit the end of the set with a bang and everyone in the crowd just stood in awe for a moment, shaking their heads at the intensity they'd just witnessed. Incredible.

The whole set wasn't political/preachy at all. Even that last part you saw wasn't really preaching anything, it was just all in good fun and building up a ton of energy to get the whole crowd moving. In the 2nd video HorrorLibraryNet posted you can see she had the whole crowd at her fingertips by the end of that thing. definitely the best (and surprisingly so) act of friday

i love the black lips and i so wanted them to tear it up at coachella, but they had to follow sharon jones and consequently were a let down. man that woman could really fire up a crowd. she was dynamite. i wanna see her at the hollywood bowl now more than i wanna see feist.

my friends held me up, so I arrived late on friday (like 830pm). I had already missed a bunch of groups I wanted to see. Somehow I managed to see Sharon and the Dap kings. WHAT A PERFORMANCE!!!! She was inspiring. Anyone who missed that show missed out on THE show of Friday (fatboy slim was a close 2nd place). The band was TIGHT! *sigh* I need a time machine!

She was very good... from a straight music-perfoamnce standpoint, she probably was the best I saw... well tied with Fatboy and Cut Copy, who were also very good.
