Dude, we got in like 10 gallons of water over the 3 days. Not to mention all the other things I can't, or am unwilling, to list here.

Actually, on Friday, the security was so lax. The guy that frisked me actually never touched my bag. He just asked me to open it... then literally said... "Now I know there are drugs in there. Have a good time."

Best security ever! :dumbo

i know they were passing out those vitaminenergy cans by lot 4 walking in and i just flat out carried 4 of them in.

i think we might have brought in 10 gallons of booze...still wasn't enough though...

Never have enough booze. Those frozen lemonades are the best thing Coachella ever thought to sell.

Yeah friday was the best. Sunday was a bit scarey.

I brought my camel pack in on friday and saturday. the guys just looked at it and let me through. I even brought my own food and stuff. Sunday, just as I set my pack on the table, the head guy yelled out, "Look out for camel packs!'. The guard never even looked in my pack.

As long as you weren't being obvious and just acted as though all was good, the front line security doesn't give a shit. They do a pat down to make sure you don't have a hand gun... and you're through.

Ya, I got in a bottle of tequila and didn't even get patted down saturday or sunday!

it was so chill this year especially compared to last year. i didn't even get patted down once and every day they just glanced into my bag. it was so sweet. hopefully next year will be the same.

I was not patted down either and one of the security guards looked in my purse and said any mara - J - uana? of course i said no, then he said... oh too bad... WTF did he want to buy some? lol Plastic baggies full of crown/limon/vodka ROCK mixxed with frozen lemonade.

Thats what happens when have you have Rage as a headliner compared to Jack Johnson Prince or Pink Floyd, it was pretty hardcore last year. Example: No aerosol sunscreen inside. Dude its just sunscreen. Throw it in the trash.

I have to agree, much of the security was pretty lax. While waiting in line to get into the campgrounds one of the security guys from inside flagged me down and asked if I could hand him a half full bottle of whiskey that someone discarded by the fence. I picked it up and handed it over the fence to him. He left it on the grass by the fence and said "If it's still there when you get inside, it's yours buddy"

Fuckin' sweet!

It was a very relaxed crowd this year. I did see one guy get cuffed & hauled off at the entrance to the Fest from the campground on Saturday. Apparently security varied - but they were always nice to me.

Pat downs are the best part, especially when they touch your bag.

lol. The funniest thing happened. I was wearing my D.A.R.E. shirt and smoking a chillum with the team at Duffy. Some "Event Staff" guy was walking by and my buddy Lorn coughs. So the guy walks over and starts hassling Lorn about smoking. But the pipe was already in my pocket by this point.

The guy had a military badge like attached to his event staff ID. LOL. He was all like... "If you are smoking weed, I don't care, but you better be careful. If the cops see that they'll give you a ticket." HAHA. Then he came back like 5 min later to reiterate. We weren't even smoking anymore.

LOL. Lorn just kept telling the guy he had a dust allergy and kept pulling out his dusk masks and inhalers.

Man, that guy wanted to be a cop so bad.

Thanks not only to the on site security but to the police department around town.

That old saying of it's not what you say but how you say it makes a world of difference. I have no problem with you and will be cooperative when your friendly and polite.

I was pulled over at the sobriety check point on hwy 111 Saturday night. They couldn't have been a more pleasant bunch of guys.

Camping Security: SUCK A FAT COCK. You really thought you guys were smart and cool on Thursday with that short chick shouting "NO ILLEGAL SHIT!" the whole time? You thought you were doing a great job? Well, while you found our weed, one of your employees felt beer bottles in my pillow, asked me if it was glass, heard me reply "Shit. Yes." AND STILL LET ME GO THROUGH WITH THE BOTTLES. Ugh. Consistency??

But as far as show security goes, boobs are wonderful. You can hide a lot in there.

shit, I took everything out of my pockets on sunday and the guy just said to me "you didn't have to empty your pockets" and did a quick pat down and waved me through on sunday. i had no issues taking whatever I wanted into the grounds this year.

The camping security was unsurprisingly crooked. They found my weed (embarrassing on my part) and pocketed it. And then every time I went back in line the same security guy persistently asked if I wanted to buy any weed off of him. I found him Thursday night and got my shit back for a few bucks (better than having to buy another 1/8 full price and I didn't really, of all people, to be him smoking my pot).

I got the older black guy on Friday and he just asked me, "Is everything out of your pockets?", looked at what I had in my hands, and let me go in. But actually, all the other guards looked like they were being extra nosey. A little scary for those with drugs and shit.

Friday: Casual look at the top of my backpack, ok you can go.
Saturday: No look at backpack, but they did a patdown.
Sunday: Opened my backpack, took everything out, looked in *EVERY* pocket, wanted to shake my shoes, opened my bottle of tylenol, opened my camera case, blah blah blah, etc. No patdown.

It's funny, I am probably one of the only people who *did not* have any drugs, yet I get the thorough search. My daughter says I look suspicious. :rolleyes

I had food each day and water, they didn't take it away, so I guess it was not so bad.

I wish i had boobs to hide stuff. They knew i was packing when like 4 security guards kept smelling my sleeping bag and wispering in spanish "si esta tiene mota". I told them i didnt have any and they just let me go.

Haha.. One of the security guards had my friend open up his wallet, and he said "Smells like Chronic" and let him inside.

Sunday at the camping entrance was insane. The men were being searched very thoroughly. They took away my brother's pen ??? Makes no fucking sense to me.

in general, security was much more visible than last year. Friday and Saturday re-entering the campgrounds we were greeted by 8 mounted police. It was ridiculous.

hahah

the harshest search i had all weekend was on friday walking into the campsite, they full on had my bag entirely emptied, patting it down, shit like that, they gave me so much crap for my camera "you cant have that in festival, dont bring that in festival" i was like "im going into the campground not the festival" and they were convinced i was hiding something...emptied shoes, everything...

i was like wtf...

hell, i even look like a cop (kinda) and they gave me shit...

every other day at camp entrance and fest entrance?

easy breezy...

GV/DANI/PT THANK YOU for allowing them to let me bring in water, it was truly, truly appreciated...

yeah, they didn't really search me friday or saturday but on sunday they made me empty out my back pack, patted me down really good, and even made me take off my hat and felt the inside of my hat to see if i was hiding anything in it...

it was a lot more relaxed crowd this year too.

while waiting for someone (i forget who) in the mojave tent, security walked up to these 4 girls smoking weed and made them get up/escorted them "out" (who knows what happened to them). then a few hours later in the same tent, a different security guy just told some old dude who was smoking to put it out.

I had no problems despite the fact that my bag reaked of pot especially by Sunday. My husband and friends who came in later in the day seemed to have a much more difficult time. Nobody seems to want to bother a single female.

We saw these 2 kids get busted at the end of Modeselektor. The undercover cop was hardcore - huge mohawk, basketball shirt. One of the kids looked terrified. I almost felt sorry for him - especially for that silly little silver hat he was wearing.

I wasn't even bringing in anything contraband, and still appreciate that they were being less aggressive this year, because the lines moved so much more quickly compared to last year.

And whoever spread the word that we were allowed to bring in sealed water and misters? Awesome.

yea , security was weird - i walked up friday and saturday with a one gallon jug, half full of water and both days they just said " yea you're good ! " then on sunday, security at the check point said the same thing, but once i was inside , 3 yellow shirts rolled up on me FAST and told me to hand it over. wouldnt even let me dump out the water and keep the jug for refills. wankers.

Man I must have just been unlucky. On Friday they refused my empty camelbak and I had to go wait in another line, which was converted mid-wait to girls only and I had to crowd into a really really crowded guys line. When I finally saw some guys in the girl line and cut back over the screeners at the front told me that I had to go back and they would only screen girls. I asked if there were any guy screeners and I only got by because I pointed at the pat-down guy and said "what about him?" and the girl let me go just to not have to deal with me anymore I think. He just assumed I'd had the bags checked, which was a stroke of luck.

Saturday we had to smuggle the pouches from our camelbaks in a friend's bag that has secret compartments while my bag got searched thoroughly. Although to their credit, both screeners allowed our sealed bottles of water.

It really just depends on who you get for security though. Friday, I was searched pretty good.. Saturday was almost nothing.. Sunday was OK.. The people in the line next to us on Sunday were getting searched hardcore.. They were taking everything out of the backpacks and checking every little pocket.

Security was very lax and allowed me to bring in 4-6 half-frozen water bottles each day which was a GODSeND! I also got in beach balls, lollipops, smarties, aerosol sunscreen, and they didn't check all the zippers on my purse, so I got in some contraband. It was so awesome!

Friday and Saturday I was at the front of the line to get in, and was hardly searched at all. I had my wallet and camera in my hand, and didn't even get patted down. On Sunday I came in a little later and the guy patted me down, checked my pockets, and searched the lining of my hat. I think he liked me.

I thought that the camping search was a lot more thorough this year. Last year they just gave a 2 second pat down of the outside of your bag and let you through. This year we had to open up every pocket and they rummaged through. I still got a handle of vodka in though. They guy even straight up felt it through the material of my bag and I thought I was busted but he let me past.

Getting into the venue was pretty chill for the most part except for sunday when they opened every pocket and checked my shoes and the guy pretty much molested me when he patted me down.

Camping security was funny to me on Friday because there was one guy YELLING at people that they better not have any weed and he always seemed so surprised when he couldn't find any. Any guy who went through his line was harassed. Then, my guard patted down my bags and rolled his eyes about the other guy while my boyfriend was being harassed. Every other security guard was at least polite, which is surprising and very appreciated.

I didn't catch much good luck on festival security though. We managed to get a few bottles of water on Saturday, but both other days they made us drink/toss our sealed waters and gatorades. It seemed to me that they were searching our boyfriends a lot harder than us girls, but I guess that's normal.

fiyahhh!
04-29-2008, 03:15 PM
Sounds like campground security was a lot tighter than festival security. On Friday I didn't even get patted down, and all three days I brought in meds that were in plain view in my backpack.

On Friday, the security guard almost grabbed my junk and briskly adjusted my belt. I felt violated. Saturday and Sunday I got weak pat downs. Not once during the weekend did they check my hands for what was in my pockets, though. I had an ear plug case that looks like it was designed to hold drugs, and it didn't even get a glance.

each day they just smacked my hips and said, "you're good" the cops just sat around and didnt form their own inspection line like last year...never had to wait more than 7 minutes in ticket lines and driving in and out was CAKE each day! how about that cloud cover sunday? great!

Have to say, over the past four years, security was the most chill this year. EVERY. FUCKING. DAY. And you know what? It made for a much better vibe inside.
