The Sean Penn pic makes it dope.

Everyone was asking me, "What the fuck is up with Sean Penn man." Depending on my state it was either "Sicky DJ set," or "Shhh..." (finger to mouth)...then just walk away.

The Sean Penn Acid Test sounds amazing.

I don't remember the Penn pic, but then again, I had a little too much to drink

Lol. I was pretty drunk when I ran into him near the main stage and didn't realize it was Penn lol...he started going on about his proposed trip.

Oh, it was an inside joke/tribute to Portishead... "Glory Box" ... it made for some funny shit that day and I was so surprised to see the lack of Portishead knowledge...

I'll have pix available soon, but here was the wardrobe schedule:

Friday: I was wearing my white algunz tank top (nobody said hi even though I had my name brandished across my breasts and back - guess they don't draw much attention), grey pin-striped shorts, and I wore my crocs with socks for all you haters.

Saturday: I was wearing a deconstructed, black & blue, tye-dyed t-shirt that was reconstructed into a halter top and a grey skirt. Really comfy!!!

Sunday: I was wearing a longish white dress with a white body suit underneath because it was pretty transparent and by the end of the evening once I added my sweater I kind of looked like I had joined a polygamy cult.

And every day I wore my new favorite Coachella hat - it was sort of an homage to superfan - a knit bowler type hat that you could totally just stuff into your bag if you wanted to take it off. Perfect.

Actually, if that picture is from Boys Noize, I think I might have seen your friend take it. And then shortly after that lady in white came and got a picture of you and your friend. And then you guys danced for a while, and left after Boys Noize. At this point I followed you to the bathroom, staying close and catching your scent with every few steps.

but seriously, we need to make a BoC campgroup. With flags and everything. And arrange a meeting with Paul T.

I'm gonna have to agree with amyzzz. I was thrilled to see parents with their kids there...if the kids were wearing proper hearing protection. Some couple had an infant and a toddler in the Sahara right by the speakers during Modeselektor's set (without hearing protection! Argh!), and I was tempted to snatch both of them! But as long as parents take the proper precautions with their kids (hearing protection, keeping them away from a giant cloud of pot smoke, etc.), I think it's totally cool to make Coachella a family affair. :)

Yeah, I would hope parents bring the kids ear plugs and take care of their kids. But this is an all ages festival (with the exception of the beer tent), and we don't need people telling us not to bring our kids if we want to. I'm thinking about bringing mine maybe in the next couple of years. As long as the parents are supervising and taking care of their kids, I don't see a problem.

My brother and I devised a plan for next year regarding bringing Izzy in for the festival. (Izzy is my 3 yr old daughter for those who don't know, and she would absolutely love the atmosphere.)

I wouldn't want to bring her in all day, but there's no ins & outs. So being that the place we've got for lodging is in the golf club right on Monroe and 48th, we figured that if we could buy one extra ticket real cheap, (We talked to a couple of people who were able to get Friday tickets for like $20.) we'd bring her during that lovely sunset time (like 5-7 or so) and then somebody would walk her back to stay with my mom and then they would just go back in with the extra ticket. Obviously this plan would only work if someone also chose to not enter until 5, but with my group they'd probably be fighting for that position.

What you have to realize about taking kids to Coacherlla is that its all about the kids. We came in late each day (4pm) and played in the pool at our Condo all morning. We left early on Saturday as he was tired and cranky, you can't get wasted or act like an idiot. Even with his headphones some areas are still too noisy.

and to the haters we are not all idiots and bad parents. I want my kids to experience as much of life as possible and if you are sensible this is a safe and happy enviroment. Anyway it was all worth to hear him ask if he can listen to "that Crazy Diamond" song again yesterday.....

That's me and my crazy daughter (8 years old and eating ice cubes) watching Islands. This was our second year going together and she honestly looks forward to Coachella more than Christmas.
The hardest part is finding places to sit that aren't too cloudy with pot smoke. The second hardest part is making them walk back to the car at the end of the night. Fortunately this year, we met another couple there who had an 8 year old, and they were parked near us. The kids were so busy discussing kid stuff that they didn't once complain about the walk back to the car.

All of the above reasons are why our plan could work beautifully. Izzy would have the experience, but having her there for a limited amount of time would still give the rest of us all the freedoms to enjoy the fest as "adults."

to each his own; I don't object to kids. I totally wouldn't bring mine simply because this is my one vacay a year on my own without her. I'm with her every other day of the year and take her on fabulous family vacations (Disney, Hawaii, London). She'd be hot, tired, and more than likely bored since her favorite band is the Jonas Bros. I also have a moral objection to exposing her to the debautchery that goes on there (drugs, naked people porking in a bathroom, Randy, etc) (I got a contact high from all the dope). If she wants to go when she's an 18 year old adult, I'll take her. As long as she buys her own damn ticket.

i think the main complaint people had here was irresponsible parenting. like when the kids get tired and cranky and the parents just expect them to suck it up cause they dont want to leave. THEY'RE KIDS! WTF! also bringing a kid anywhere near a tent without hearing protection is insane in my opinion. i cant believe people would be ignorant enough to do so.

anyone else see the baby i'd say two years old or less with the full on earmuff style protection near the mojave? that was ridiculous cuteness right there. also another day near the back of the mojave i saw two blonde kids (again probably 2-4 years old) chasing each other around all the people. they looked like they were having a blast and people were getting a kick out of it

haha... we made our new Coachella motto be "Coachella: its better than Christmas"...

Love that you brought your daughter and everyone else that brings their kids. It gives me hope in future generations.

Being that this was my frist year, no way in hell would i have brought my kid. he LOVE LOVES LOVES the music, and we dance all the time. I met a few other parents there and had some good conversations about how it was for them. I have to agree with what has been said, on not being an idiot/high/drunk, and be realistic that it's not meant for the kiddies, and come knowing they're gonna be hot and super-tired and whiney at the end of the day (I'd bring a wagon!!!!) and HEARING protection!!! I saw a few parents in tents that didn't have headphones or plugs their kids, made me pretty pissed, as well as kids with wicked sunburns!

I'm still undecided on next year as my son is gonna be 9, but he is a smart and usually responsible kid. But it boils down to the parents. YOU are the adult and YOU are responsible for your own children.

so we'll see

fiopadp7791
05-02-2008, 08:35 PM
Who is to say Coachella is not the place for infants and tots? Go fuck yourself, prejudiced asshole.

Amy,

It's not the place for them... It's too loud. I'd love to introduce my kids to this 'fest ay around 7 or 8, but no way before that. Not only is it too loud, when they start whining after hour 3 because they're too tired, I'd hate to go home early because fo them

fiopadp7791
05-02-2008, 08:38 PM
Yeah, I would hope parents bring the kids ear plugs and take care of their kids. But this is an all ages festival (with the exception of the beer tent), and we don't need people telling us not to bring our kids if we want to. I'm thinking about bringing mine maybe in the next couple of years. As long as the parents are supervising and taking care of their kids, I don't see a problem.

I guess if you were taking all the precautions as far as ear plugs and stuff, it's a little more acceptable. But even if you get in to the 'fest around 6 that night, those kids are gonna win by 9PM. Unless you got a hubby or boyfriend that doesn't care about staying the whole night, I'd hate to have a whiney, tired kid on my hands when I'm tryin to enjoy the music.

Specifically Saturday, I was a non stop smiling 20year old white boy with short hair and the M.I.A merch shirt being sold there (back is white and front is pink and variety of designs and whatnot) and sunglasses. I had several people come up to me and take pics of my shirt (whether because they enjoyed the shirt or were mocking it, but in the spirit of coachella who cares : D) . Just being a dancing fool. So my guess is they were either saying "is he gay?" cuz im so fucking pretty and was a bit too mashed up to approach or speak to 2 cutie Aussie girls standing/dancing right next to me. Or they were saying "Is he rolling?" - see previous explanation. Really the didnt point and laugh, but they did laugh, and maybe it wasnt even about me, but I have dillusions of grandeur (sic) and refuse to believe it wasnt all about me.

Really the didnt point and laugh, but they did laugh, and maybe it wasnt even about me, but I have dillusions of grandeur (sic) and refuse to believe it wasnt all about me.

They probably said "Is he rolling?".

I thought they were priss and proper till we started comparing our drug collections.

They both are, totally.

Aw gee... you girls are swell. It was nice to met and chat with both of you. Becky, my girl, is usally more chatty, but she didn't want to interupt me while I was meeting my friends from the internet haha. But yes, she is adorable either way. :)

You look thoroughly confused in that second photo.

You are very right. I think that picture was taken just after I met Dani. So... I might just be in awe.
