being an anniversary year aside from my own specific wants (eg nick cave, pj harvey, einsturzende neubauten, eels, and an unwound reunion) how about the idea of having past artists, maybe not so recent past, make up the majority of the poster aside from maybe top and second line billing. take the 3rd line and the middles from every year and include that as the bulk of the line-up except for perhaps the top headliners, which i will say right now aside from my own personal wants i would agree with the majority whom are rallying for tom waits, talking heads, and david bowie.
just a suggestion, maybe you all can elaborate further...

that would only be cool if you had not been to all of the coachellas. if you have then i dont know if it would be as exciting

yeah i understand that and think that is also true, but if you take the best of the 3rd and 4th and 5th tier artists it is usually those that were skipped over for some scheduling conflicts or in my case in '07 being sick the entire weekend and having missed sparklehorse among others. plus usually the 3rd line ends up making the 2nd line in subsequent years anyhow like with gogol and arcade fire.
either way though i would like some form of retrospective combined with a new list of artists. though topping this year means some form of mental salivating... until january at least.

i think in 09 they should have gogol play with absolutely no conflicts. every year gogol has conflicts...EVERY YEAR!

You mean shut down all the other stages and just have them play on the main stage? Of course they are going to have conflicts. There are 4 other bands playing. Why not just go see one of their concerts?

I've made Gogol a priority both times they've played Coachella.....and it was worth it each time......conflicts are gonna happen.....sometimes you must make sacrifices!!!!!!!

cause he really doesnt know anything about music, so he has to rely on what this board says, and there are lots of gogol bordello fans on this board.

A Talking Heads reunion would be epic and could not happen anywhere else but Coachella. But it doesn't look any less unlikely than usual.
I think Paul McCartney is more likely than David Bowie.
But it's the tenth anniversary so I can totally see a lot of repeats from the old days. Oooh, maybe Beck or Morrissey. And maybe Moby or The Chemical Bros or Underworld will finally return.

He stayed because a group of us all met up to drop acid for Sean Penn.
