I might be moving up north, as I graduate in two weeks. But, those plans have been dissolving pretty quickly with everything that I had set up there falling apart. So, I will most likely stay down here and work at an entertainment law firm for a year rather than risk my neck up there.
Backwater

Protect yo neck
If you're trying to work for a law firm you don't need to worry about your neck, you need to worry about your own conscience and ethical sense of being.

I picked up a flyer at Irv's that had The Germs listed, and that was over a month ago. No idea why they kept it secret for so long. I mean, on the picture of the flyer on the site, they poorly photoshopped over where The Germs were listed.

i saw the Shane West fronted Germs a couple of years ago and thought it was pretty decent. i was very skeptical about Mr. West, but he did a good job (and he didn't slobber around all fucked up like a certain Mr. Crash). Cool to see Lorna, Pat and Don play together. A few pictures from them performing at the Vault in Long Beach (2/05):

Two guys and a girl on bass. They were dressed all 60's psychedelic and their sound was similiar. I was impressed considering how young they looked.

TheScaryOne
08-25-2008, 07:24 PM
i thought that is was ridiclous that none of the tech people at the festival came out to help BSS when all the sound was screwed up. There was one point where kevin drew sat there for five minutes pleading for someone to come on stage and fix the sound. He ended up unplugging broken amps and throwing the faulty mics off stage. i love that guy.
aside from that, BSS and menomena were amazing. menomena really surprised me with how good they were live and BSS was just epic. When kevin told everyone to just scream at the end of 'ibi dreams of pavement,...ahh i lost it
as for cold war kids... eh? they put on a pretty good show but most of their songs were new and i felt their performance was kinda a downer after the high from menomena and BSS.
humanoid
08-25-2008, 11:06 PM
/\ it is pretty pathetic to have one of the main bands pleading from the stage for technical help and joking with the audience about how no one works there and won't help them

08-26-2008, 05:26 PM
The sound was bad unless you were close enough...if you were too far back, higher frequencies didn't travel as well and it was too much low end...especially for a band like Cold War Kids.
Menomena was pretty damn good. !!! was pretty awful. The Germs were at the wrong festival. And were bad, regardless.

"... the problems that came out of last year, such as local employees being forced to pay festival admission to get to work and not allowing postal workers to deliver the mail."
This is totally lame. Can't believe this is even a problem after all this time. Let the mailman in. Give tickets to the places of business to give to their employees to get in for the day. Problem solved.
