Thank you for bringing this back. :)

I'll probably pick up the Verve eventually. A few other things on the list that might be worth checking out as a "rental" so to speak.

Sweet, New Music Tuesday is finally back.

Luckily, there's nothing I want to get today, so now I can save up some money for future New Music Tuesday threads.

Metallica released a new song last night and it is pretty damn good.

Does it actually sound like Metallica?

The new Metallica song is decent. Way better than anything off of St. Anger. The intro is good and the last 4 minutes rocks hard. I just don't like James Hetfields vocals.

I had read that it was only available through The Verve's website but I ordered it from Amazon:

They also have the CD + DVD version listed:

New Nightmares on Wax!? FUCK YES. God this is such a good year for downtempo music.

Also, what's the verdict on the new Stereolab?

Thanks for bringing this back, C DUB.

Why the hell not. Bring on Klaus!

Oh The Verve is good so far - about halfway through it, nothing bad at all. Love is Noise gets better and better.

Just got my NIN (Columbus) tickets too, good day!

Yay for new music tuesdays!! Just got the NOW cd, didn't even know about it till 30 seconds ago :)

Still need to listen to Fourth all the way through, is there anything on there as strong as Love is Noise?

Valium Skies is a great tune. I would describe Forth as a mix of A Storm In Heaven's epicness and length and Urban Hymns' production/sense of songcraft. If that helps. It is not their best work or anything, but it is a good album all the same. Seeing the tunes live might help.

Damage Inc. was heavy enough but with Slayer mixed?

It's a great song but the lyrics are lame as hell and I also don't like the way James sings them.

huge article in Sunday New York Times abooot the new Metallica album.
some snips:

Death Magnetic released on Sept.12
produced by Rick Rubin (producer of Slayer's "Reign in Blood"
Rubin told them to write the follow-up to "Master of Puppets"
songs built from 60 hours of recorded riffs
Lots of double and half time rhythm switches
Twinned & harmonized guitar solos
Hetfield's lyrics inpired from H.P. Lovecraft horror fiction
Band playing in standard tuning (something they abandoned since 1992)
Hammett's solos borrowed from jazz guitarists
