I've never understood the appeal of MadTV. SNL keeps suckering most of us because we have fond memories of years past, and because it usually has a FEW funny bits. I watch MadTV every once in a while and I never laugh. On the other hand, I also don't feel cheated or disappointed either. (I did see Mike McDonald or whatever his name is at Cookin' With Gas once and he was awesome.)

If given the choice, I'd rather watch reruns of (in this order)

-Mr Show, Monty Python, Kids In The Hall (all time top 3)
-Whitest Kids U Know (Best sketch show currently in production.)
-The State (if they would ever release the DVDs)
-SCTV (even though it doesn't hold up very well)
-Almost Live (which was really pretty lame, but had a nice homespun feel.)
-French & Saunders (REALLY hasn't held up.)
-Exit 57 & The Vacant Lot (nearly forgotten.)
-Upright Citizens Brigade (though the premise got in the way.)
-Not The Nine O'Clock News.
-Any previously unmentioned British sketch show except Benny Hill.
-Not Necessarily The News.
-Any SNL from '75-'78
-The Carol Burnett Show (over the top, but a fond childhood memory.)
-Null & Void (A remarkably well done show produced at some eastern university by students)
-The New Show (which was awful, but it DID have Buck Henry)
-Fridays (but only the Kaufman disaster episode.)
-Your Show Of shows (a little hard to relate to, but nice to see a pioneer)
-Any SNL from '79 on.
-Benny Hill
-Mad TV
-Any other sketch show ever produced anywhere in any language not featuring a Wayan.

i have the same reaction to Fred Armsion as i do to Zach Galifianakis. i don't really laugh much, but when i do, i'm erupting. i am a huge fan of their approach to comedy. it's really incredible stuff.


that waiter bit was the best skit of the show. i was laughing throughout. it was reminiscent of Artie Lang doing "That's My White Mama". it worked for me. i like that kind of stupidity. expect that skit to be reoccurring. it has potential.


oh yeah, and that Charles Barkley skit was good. Kenan cant do impressions, but the way they portray Sir Charles always gets a laugh.

Michael Phelps Stripped Of Medals After Chinese Discover Small Outboard Motor In His Ass

It is a sad day for America at the Olympics.

Michael Phelps, who seemed unstoppable and virtually unbeatable, has been stripped of all his medals and will no longer be allowed to compete in any more events.

Turns out the acclaimed swimmer had a little extra help in the form of an outboard motor discreetly hidden in his ass.

For weeks we've heard explanations about why Michael is so fast, including his long torso and his remarkable endurance, but during a recent record-breaking swim, a sharp-eyed, Chinese official noticed a strange protrusion in the swimmer's backside.

Turns out it was a eCycle 6hp outboard motor - a top of the line motor intended for use on small boats and yachts. Not Olympic swimmers.

How the swimmer was able to hide such a thing in his ass, let alone operate it, remains a mystery. But Michael did it and now the world can only shake it's head in shock.

"This explains his incredible speed and also the small wake he produced in his swimming lane," said one Olympic Committee member.

So for those of us who doubted that a human could swim so fast, there is now, sadly, confirmation.

SNL - horrid show (as usual) I don't think I laughed at all, maybe when Kristen animal snorted during the OJ witness skit, but really, nothing else. The Cougar thing was OK - I hate Cameron Diaz though. James Franco wasn't very good. The Digital short thing has run its course - that's two weeks in a row of nothing but weird looks and crickets. Fuck Andy Sandberg, he ain't that funny and 9 times out of 10 his digital shorts blow.

They need to fire Jason Sedakis, Keenan Thompson, Andy Sandberg, Darrell Hammond, that new guy and new gal - pronto.

Kristen Wig, Bill H, and Amy are the best things on there... hands down.

I really like Sex on Fire - saw them do it live a few weeks back, I've liked it ever since I first heard it, but I really like them though.
