Help The Tet Holiday (my band) play Noise Pop 2009

Hello friends.

This website, OurStage, is having a contest. The winner can potentially play SF's famous Noise Pop fest, which for the uninitiated is a couple of weeks of really great music in clubs throughout the city.

You can help us win in two ways (to my knowledge. This site is so fucking poorly designed that I am not positive. Don't let this turn you off. I'll walk you through it):

See that link? Listen to our song. Over and over and over again. I mean, it is a pretty good song, so unless you dislike good songs, that shouldn't be a problem, right?

2. ACTUAL JUDGING: This is the more involved way. But it is not terribly involved. We aren't talking economics class here. This is what you do if you want to be on our guest list when we play your town. I'm not joking. I would do this for you.

-Create a profile
-Click the tab that says "Judge"
-Choose the stage that says "Music" and the channel that says "Noise Pop 2009"
-Wade through some of the bands until you get to us. Some of them are actually pretty solid. Some of them suck le ballsack.
-Vote in our favor. Drive us to the top.
-Repeat this periodically throughout the month of November

Yes, but it is up to you if you want to do that. Listening doesn't do anything as far as I know beyond increasing the play count. Which looks good, but doesn't help in terms of the contest. I don't really expect people to do the judging because there is far more to it, as you can see. But if you want to go that route, that would be great.

Here is concrete proof that voting makes a difference (from the site's FAQ):

What are the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals?
To decide our Channel Winners and Grand Prize Winner, we have four stages of judging. We feel this is the best way to award our prizes, because it's completely uncheatable and gives every artist a completely equal shot.

Quarter-Finals
One week before the end of the month, OurStage moves into the quarter-finals. (Check out our site countdown clock to exactly when we go into Quarter-Finals.) During this stage, the Top 20 entries in every channel at 12AM EST are locked in, and judging continues on just these twenty items. This way, fans on OurStage and can concentrate on helping decide which music and video is the best of the best.

Semi-Finals
After four days of quarter-finals, the Top 10 lock in at 12AM EST to set the stage for the semi-finals. During semi-finals, judging continues on just the Top 10 items to determine which item of those is the best in the channel. After two days of semi-finals, the Number Ones in each channel are locked in, and the finals begin.

Finals
In these final twenty-four hours of judging, fans of all the genres rise to judge for their favorite pieces on OurStage. At 12AM EST on the last day of the month, the #1 item in Music and the #1 in Video are our Grand Prize winners!

When can I be certain I’ve made it to the quarter-finals, semi-finals or finals?
The cut off for every stage of our Finals Week is 12 AM EST (Check our countdown clock). But because of heavy battling during finals week, it can take up to 20 minutes for all votes to tally and the system to refresh with the FINAL standings. We suggest you look at the rankings at 12:30 AM EST to verify your official channel rank.

Why am I limited in the number of battles I can perform in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals?
To help prevent people from unfairly doing thousands of battles thinking they can cheat their way to the Number One spot in their channel and on OurStage as a whole, we limit people to only doing just one set of battles in each of the final stages of the month. This means you can do 190 battles per channel in the quarter-finals, and 45 battles per channel on OurStage during semi-finals. You will be able to do different numbers of battles in the Music and Video stages of the site during finals, because they have a different number of channels. Rest assured that this way, we guarantee that every item in a channel receives equal exposure and the same number of chances to be judged favorably as every other piece.

Normally, OurStage never limits how many battles you can do or how long you judge for, but we decided to set a limit in the interest of keeping this competition fair to all artists and fans.

The more you judge, the quicker it goes. Once you play a song you don't even have to listen to it again. This is not from just one sitting, it could be from last week. In the head-to-head battles I just click "same" and half the time I don't even need to listen.

check the tabs up top... i remember after i finished registering it thru me into the "Rock" section... and i did like 50 matchups before i figured it out...
there are like 2000 bands in the rock section...

but you need to be in the NOISE POP group 1st and then start doing matchups... i think i there are only like 241 bands in that section...

check it out... maybe someone can clarify it better than i did

No. Once the top 20 is locked in, people vote between those. Then it goes to the top 10, etc. It keeps getting smaller.

It will obviously be much easier to vote for the top 20.

I very much enjoyed the Tet Holiday song. Reminded me of a slightly fuzzed out Big Star...and that's a good thing!

I have found one song, "It's Not Over" by Get Back Loretta that has to be one of the best songs I have heard all year.

Anyway, back to judging.

I FINALLY got the Tet Holiday to engage in battle with some less-than-worthy foes.

I really liked the songs by Tiny Television and Tigers Can Bite You, but damn, I had to sit through a lot of garbage.

If the band Dangermaker ever hits with their posted song, they'll have to send all proceeds to The Rolling Stones. They stole the entire riff from "Dancing With Mr. D", ha ha....

The top 20 is horrific. I am not even mad anymore. The people voting are clearly retarded. Not one of the 20 or so bands I would have considered great made the top 20. There is one song I liked in there, because it sort of sounds like Spacemen 3, but they were just alright.

Thanks to everyone who voted. We know you didn't have to take the time to help us out, and we really appreciate. We will probably compete again in December and January, but maybe not.

On that thought, maybe you should suggest to the organizers that they go with the electoral college style of selection due to the fact that the voters are "clearly retarded".
