Linton Kwesi Johnson was one of the best performers of 2008 and all he needed was a mic and a book. It was deep verse without the cliche slam poetry crap some people call "readings." Coachella 2009 needs something like this too.

This would be great. Has anyone heard of Mike McGee?

If not, listen to this: https://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=batch_download&send_id=622799239&email=7e429e727d3f20e23681a2e97d91fe5a

and tell me he wouldn't be amazing to see.

What about Patti Smith?

Maybe performing the Coral Sea with Kevin Shields?

I get the feeling having a spoken word artist there was the exception, not the rule.

I actually kinda like slam poetry. But any spoken word would be pretty cool to have.

It wouldnt be cool cause Rollins needs his obligatory 3 hours to talk so he doesnt feel restrained and put on a time schedule. I just saw him a couple of weeks ago and it was a blast as were the 7 times before.

There a lot of artists who could be good, but I can't really see anything happening other than a 15 or 30 minute set like Linton got.

Which would be fine with me. I wouldn't go to Coachella just to see something like this, but it would be a great bonus.
