View Full Version : JANES ADDICTION IS A LOCK

crombrenner

Can anybody disagree with the fact that Jane's Addiction with the original lineup is a lock to headline one of the nights this year? They are currently playing tiny clubs in LA warming up for a tour and Perry is always there. I personally can't wait to see Three Days and Ted Just Admit It played in front of 50,000 strong in the desert!! It's gonna be amazing!! I'm sure all of you Perry hters will jump all over this thread but you are all in denial if you think they won't be there and don't carry headliner status.

As for the other two nights, I'll put my money on Pearl Jam and Bowie.

Please dont make a thread with that title unless it has some sort of solid evidence behind it.

And honestly, they look like they might just be there, but i definitely wont be seeing them.

Nobody is a lock in November. They're a strong headlining candidate, though. You know Perry's gonna be there, just in what capacity?

I'd love to see Jane's, but assuming they'll be headlining a day of Lolla this year, I could go for somebody else at Coachella.

No Pearl Jam, please.

I just don't understand why they would play Coachella and not Lolla. I don't care if Perry is always there, Lolla is HIS festival. Or does that just make too much sense?

Because Perry saved Coachella and is AllLove. Someone you should model yourself after, sbessiso. Start by buying the DVD titled Three Days. Have a few extra change of undies around for when you watch it.

Yes, Lolla is his festival but he also helped put together Coachella. Plus, Shyguy is correct, if it wasn't for Jane's this festival would have been dead after the second version. For those of you who haven't seen Jane's live just put aside any prejudgement and see them. They will blow you away.

PS- Passive theory... You're a douche. Let me guess because this was my first post you have to respond like a retard? Even though I have never posted here before I have been watching this board since you first began annoying the shit out of people. Just go wack your bag in the Sahara tent like you always do and let us festival veterans have a broad mind and enjoy all that Coachella offers. ROCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK ONNNNNNNNN!!!

It's always the same circle of bullshit:

1. Idiotic, asinine spectulation
2. Perfectly appropriate response
3. "Hey man, I'm just posting what I know." or "I know because I'm an INSIDER."
4. Collective sigh, continue arguing.

Except this time it's not even like the fuckface who posted this has anything to base his assumption (yes assumption, NOT confirmation or "lock" or whatever the fuck you thought you were trying to convey but absolutely failed to do) it's just "oh, hey, a bunch of coincidental information OBVIOUSLY means that I KNOW something no one else knows: THAT JANE'S ADDICTION IS PLAYING COACHELLA. OH MY GOD. THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. IT'S LIKE 2 + 2 = 4! WHAT A REVELATION! THE WORLD MUST KNOW! THIS IS DIFFERENT. THIS ISN'T BASELESS SPECULATION. THIS IS THE TRUTH." and so on and so forth.

A few things Passive, first off this is the rumors, gossip, wishlist area right? Not the lineup/artists area? Second, when a sports handicapper gives out a pick that he really likes what does he call it? A LOCK!! So basically you are mad because of semantics? Because I didn't use the proper headline? Get a fucking life dude!! All I wanted to do is get some talk about Jane's on this site and you have to start pissing and moaning just like you always do. Why don't you go cry to Dani and have this topic removed then? I know why, because this is where this post belongs!! I don't know why you always get so fired up over the stupidest things. I gave my reasons why I think they will be there and they both are valid. Would you rather I said that I talked to somebody in the Jane's camp and they said they will be there? Would that make you feel better? Do the fake posters get you fired up too because they are misleading? Probably, because what else do have to do today right?

Seems like ur the only that has a real issue with this Passive. Sorry I offended you with my greeness to posting rules. As you can see, this was the first time I ever posted anything. I've been a loyal reader of these posts for years but for once felt like posting my own speculation. If you can tell me how to change the title to "Jane's Addiction is a lock (I think)" I will do so, I promise. Ok, crybaby. Like I said earlier, this argument is a classic example of why so many people on this site can't stand you. As for the rest of you out there... I love you all!! Can't wait to go to my 9th consecutive Coachella!! It's gonna be a great one. They will be there and they could headline Sunday night if they wanted to. Anyone who thinks that an original Jane's show isn't headline worthy needs to go back and watch some old footage. Start with early 90's lolla stuff. Or you could just look at who headlined last year and apologize to everyone for such an illinformed comment.

i was at the janes show tonight and perry was on stage and said they would be doing more local shows (no mention of the palladium show that is going to happen) but he brought up the fact we would "see them at coachella". i think its a lock....

Thank you, the first true indication of motive concerning my words from any of your scumfucks during this entire incident. You deserve a round of applause for your fucking brilliance.

Wait...what...?

Because it's misleading.

It doesn't take much to get Mr. Passive Theory all riled up. He's easily the grumpiest muthafucka on this board. I would imagine that Jane's is a lock. Saw 'em last night at El Cid and they melted faces. However, I've learned over the years that you can't be sure about anything lineup wise until the poster goes up.

Wow, so this is pretty much going to happen then? Are they definitely a headliner? They seem kinda borderline to me at this point, like is there really that much demand to see Jane's Addiction? I mean, they're definitely a #2 act, but do they still command headliner status?

I think we should all freak the fuck out and murder each other over a message board, all to the sweet sounds of some Perry Farrell related nonsense

probably posted already, but to clarify the "see you at Coachella" comments:

We've already written enough this week about Jane's Addiction, so this time we'll keep it short. More than 70 fans eventually made their way in last (plus 80 or so crew, guest list ticket holders and staff) night at El Cid in Silver Lake, with minimal drama at the door -- no fights over spots in line and lots of smiling faces. "This is what it used to feel like [to play live in Los Angeles] and guess what? It feels ... great," vocalist Perry Farrell said Thursday night after a tight and funky version (good to have you back, Eric) of "1%."

Suffice it to say, despite a few technical problems with Dave Navarro's guitar set-up, the show was worth the seven-hour (for some of us, anyway) wait. Curiously, Farrell mentioned Goldenvoice onstage (Farrell and Goldenvoice have a long history) at one point during the evening, which some might take as a signal that the band may be gearing up for a possible return to the Goldenvoice-produced Coachella festival, which they last played in 2001. We have no idea if a slot on the 2009 bill is in the works, but it is interesting to note that the band's forthcoming box set, "A Cabinet of Curiosities," bows in April. Fortuitous timing, no? The Jane's Addiction ringleader is at Coachella every year anyway, either as a DJ or just backstage in the VIP area repping L.A. as only he knows how in the desert; this coming year, perhaps he might get paid just a bit more for the two-hour and change drive east.

Regardless of what happens next spring, fans who got in to the gig last night were happy they were able to see the band. As a grinning Farrell nicely put it before leaving El Cid's tiny stage, "Let's see Clear Channel top this one." Set list and some musings from Navarro after the jump (video forthcoming when we can find something usable; fans can feel free to point us to anything decent in the comments below).

he specificaly mentioned coachella though. it came from his mouth.... and 70 fans were not let in, they only gave wristbands out to 60 people...... sigh and there were fights over spots...

the people waiting in line got in differently than people on the guest list. there were 80 people on the guest list and 30 crew and the venue held 150....

im not sure how informed the latimes blogger was but he put alot of miss info in that blog...

why? he is at coachella every year regardless. he didn't tell you anything that we all didn't know anyway.

perry by himself is different than with all the members of janes addiction, and not one of the makeshift lineups but with eric back in the band. i was just quoting what i heard at the show, but thanks for being a d-bag....

NOOOOO!!!!!!! I was holding out hope, but damnit.

Oh well. More space for an awesome band on the Outdoor or Sahara headliner.

But this really sucks, if they are a headliner.

Just to be a bitch for a second, (just a second! :D), there's actually a really significant difference between "I'll see you at Coachella" and "We'll see you at Coachella" coming out of Perry's mouth in this particular scenario... just putting that out there...

i dont think they will headline either but a subheadline set is more likely, maybe a friday night time slot kinda around the time jesus and mary chain were on two years ago....
