2009 Lineup....

I've never posted here before but I figured this information would be valuable. A friend of mine is a big concertgoer and asked me to try and find the lineup for the 2009 Coachella Fest, apparently it's not released for another month or so. I work with computers for a living, so it's not that hard for me to "hack" a server or database when I want or need to. I was able to get a lot out of the system before I got booted, but not so much pertaining to the Coachella Fest. Something is better than nothing, right? If you have any questions I'll be checking this message board every so often while I work. Hope these are of some interest!

UPDATE: Just finished getting these from the servers! It looks like a great time... maybe I'll go!

The conflicts on this fake suck mad dick.

First of all, Friday is weak as it is, and the M83/Deerhunter hypothetical blockade would be a tough choice. Sufjan closing the outdoor theatre is a good choice.

Saturday would be a lazy day, until the massive Hercules > MGMT > Mainstage run to wait for Beck/The Smiths.

Sunday blows with the epic Sebastian Tellier/Boys Noize/Soulwax conflict during the MBV wait and performance. Those people should have played Friday.

Does anyone high up ever look at these and see some name they hadn't thought of? (I.E. Who the hell is Shpongle? Let me check them out. Wow, lets try and book them) I'm just curious in general about the entire process of booking, what thought process goes into the bands that are chosen, etc...

Conflicts are bitch, but aren't they always? I would have to skip one of my favorite bands, the YYY's, because Neko Case > Deerhunter is just too awesome to pass up... also, Sunday would be spent entirely at Main Stage & Outdoor Theatre, which could be fun.

Many conflicts, but those are inevitable.

However, the largest flaw is the Sahara Tent closing down at 10:45. The Sahara will never close early - it will always run till midnight. The Smiths could play to a near silent coachella with all of the other stages down, but the sahara will always be open because there are some people that come to coachella just for that tent alone.

But good effort. Poster design is pretty nice. I'd be fairly excited if it was real.

For epichella, I do not think that GV will book The Killers as headliners, definetly sub-headliners. I really think that some epic headliners will be booked. The Smiths are looking promising, if not, then I guarantee you we will have Moz solo. Damon Alburn will be there in some form: Gorillaz, possibly Blur (although it's unlikely now that they have announced there first reunion show happening after Coachella.) Flaming Lips, Neil Young, Depeche Mode, Radiohead, Jane's Addiction, MBV, are all looking like possibilities as well. Expect to see an awesome blend of Headliners and sub-headliners...maybe even better than 2008!

I am definitely not opposed to seeing the Killers, I will be unsatisfied and dissapointed if they are booked as headliners. I've seen them live once before. Hot fuss material is excellent, everything thereafter [Sam's Town, (that one album with a bad Joy Division Cover) Day & Age] is mediocre, obnoxiously whiny, rushed, and just plain crappy. Their live show is glitsy, and the performance is generally good. Not amazing, though.

GV does a really really good job of finding the best slots so that each person with a different music taste can happily navigate to the bands that are similar also... HA...

While this would be a great lineup, I'm not sure how much truth there is to the poster (although perhaps that seems obvious now).

My big point is that they have Blikk Fang listed on Sunday. For those of you not in the know, Blikk Fang is the supposed band consisting of Kevin Barnes from of Montreal and MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden. They've been rumored to be creating an album together, but nothing's been released in over a year...

For the record, both of Montreal and MGMT are scheduled to be playing on Friday and Saturday.

most of the acts on there are ones we are all familiar with. If GV does anything like last year there will be more obscure groups on the lineup. I have to say I loved that about last year. As we got closer people started posting that they've been listening to the music and can't wait to see them now.

These are very very impressive fakes, but then again.... They could be legit. This year will be my 7th year and the poster and sets times sheet looks pretty damn convincing. The bands look pretty logical too except I didn't see The Presets and I'm 95% sure they are coming. Bravo though!
