BF5 REUNITED!? WTF?! WHEN?!
Can we has for Coachella please?

And I'm looking for bands that the average person/music minded person will recognize. It's for one of the sample columns I'm writing for the USC paper. I'm trying to beat out the girl who has the music column now. It would be easy because she knows nothing about music and writes about Tegan and Sara, Fergie playing at a Casino, and how festivals are stupid. The only problem is the editor thinks she "shows her personality." WTF.

Anyway, if there's anything more along the lines of MBV/Portishead/Blur/Verve/BF5/NKOTB/Spice Girls/etc. that's what I'm looking for.

Blur did break up. After Think Tank, they stopped making music because of Graham Coxon, despite that he wasn't really in Think Tank. Not to mention that they are calling this embodiment of Blur a reunion.

I thought Filter never split up, just had a revolving lineup. At least that's what I gathered from wikipedia.

Is that Sublime rumor for real?

And yes, Orbital announced they are reuniting to play some festival next year. Really want them at Coachella to play the Sahara during the Killers.

suprefan

Yeah the Sublime one is legit. Filter was done for a few years ago. When Richard went back to rehab and they didnt do anything until this year. You could call it a long hiatus, but there was nobody form the last incarnation of the band. I woudl call it a breakup technically.

Stone Temple Pilots
B-52s
The Pretenders

The B-52s never split up. They've been playing Indian (errrrrrrrrr Native American) casinos for years.

The Pretenders are Chrissie Hynde and whoever she can get to roleplay with her. James Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon are long dead.

This already happened this past september or october I can't remember which.

Not really. It wasn't all three of them, and Hart and Mould still don't get along. Plus, to be perfectly honest, while it would be great to have all of them together again, Bob Mould wrote most of the great Husker Du songs, and he plays many of them live, so seeing him is nearly as good. and, be sure, he is truly amazing live.

bmack86

From Wiki:

Mould and Hart did a brief, unannounced reunion in 2004 at a benefit concert for ailing Soul Asylum bassist Karl Mueller (who had been receiving treatment for cancer, and has since died). At the end of what had been scheduled as a Bob Mould solo set, he brought Hart out and the duo played two specially-selected Hüsker Dü songs, "Hardly Getting Over It" and "Never Talking To You Again". Mould wrote on his blog that the performance was an impromptu, last-minute suggestion by Hart and shouldn't kindle any "false hope" for a reunion.

Why are people feeling a Pulp reunion in the wind? Did Jarvis say something?

How does AC/DC count? Just cause they finally put out another record after 7 years? They never broke up. But thats stretching it on the long layoff, they toured like 4 years ago and now are back again. So thats nothing to count really.

Maybe you confused my wording. I'm doing a section of the article on what bands SHOULD reunite soon to bank on the reunion wave and their current popularity/demand.

Oh, I did confuse it.

But I've also heard people anxious about Pulp reuniting, and I was wondering if there was any reason for that.

kitt kat
12-28-2008, 08:55 PM
Only a year older than me. To be fair, that's probably one of the worst of her articles.

http://dailytrojan.com/lifestyle/plastic_pop_stars_can_cause_quite_the_fuss

^But she writes about a lot of things that are irrelevant and fluffy. Plus, she spends too much time getting to the point.

http://dailytrojan.com/lifestyle/music_gains_from_fans_with_sexual_curiosity

^The relevant part comes more than 3/4ths of the way into the article.

Also,

In the business of music, sexuality is a product, sold to the public through the filter of a young, beautiful pop star body. And homosexual themes in music might just garner such immense public recognition because people want to be just like our dominant pop culture symbols. People find pleasure not in the act of experimentation itself, but with the idea of being able to transform themselves into their desired celebrity by temporarily exploring a media-projected lifestyle.

Groundbreaking journalism.

Ok so did she listen to Katy Perry and come up with that idea?

kitt kat

Katy Perry is so inspiring.

Anyway, I finished. Thank god. We'll see how well I did. Like I said, the editor thinks her columns are good, but my roommate is the assistant editor and HATES the girl's writing. Maybe nepotism will pull through on this one.

But for the hell of it, if anyone's interested in reading a hefty article on band reunions (thanks for the help, thread people) or a fan girl's musing on Elvis Costello's talk show, hit me up.
