I went to the store last night and bought 2 cartons of cigs at the front desk. I then went and picked up some other items and went to self serv checkout. I scanned my things, paid my money, and left for home. I got home and realized I had left my cigs on the top shelf of checkout. That was almost $65 worth of stuff. I then rushed back to the store and they were gone. :( I went to customer service in hopes someone might actually turn them in. They were both there !!!! Yea for honest people. cr****

Denver locals will know where I am talking about in this post. I am going back home from work on I225 North. You take a big curve in front of this dam where there is an exit. Where I was the road it is three lanes and goes down to 2 lanes just past the exit. The speed is 65 MPH and I was going about 60. I have never seen this except on TV or the movies. I am in the middle lane and the cars in front of me are spreading apart like the Red Sea. Coming straight at me is a very large ambulance heading right for me. I tried to get into the right hand side of the interstate but couldn't. Finally I swerve across all three lanes to the left hand shoulder. It's things like that, that make arguments just a day in a life and no big deal. Lalalalalal .... cr****

despite being broke, i'm having a wonderful day! i'm home early enough for a sunset walk in the incoming fall breeze, this morning sonic charged me a dollar less than they should have for breakfast, i was able to put together a nice little training project for my new employee, she's SMART, i got my other newish employee started on another project and i just happened to notice an error in the source data BEFORE completing my most high priority monthly report for exec management, so thankfully i was able to send that back to accounting without the execs having to point it out to me. and i have a wonderful pair of pants that loves me so & great friends to boot :)

I went in thinking if they don't offer me at least $500 I won't take it. The guy puts it on his little weed scale in the back office of his jewelery shop and says I can give you $880 for it. I was able to choke out an "I'll take it" before nearly choking on my tongue. Little did I know I had rent sitting in my closet for the last 6 years. Went camping down at Doheney in Dana Point with the wife and two kids. Now, I was afraid...very afraid of taking a 4 year old and an 18 month old, but the kids slept through the night and had a rad time. Much more of this in the future!

Today, I got a call from someone I just met about a week ago, and we wound up talking for two hours. I usually never talk on the phone. Gave me the warm fuzzies to make new friends.

Nice, Steve!!! We started taking our girls camping when they were babies/toddlers, too. Get 'em early and they'll love it their whole lives. Starting out somewhere close is always smart. If disaster strikes, you can pack up and get home in a hurry. (It never did.)

It's refreshing to get assurance that I'm good at my job. I'm working on a retirement community and took some poorly designed condos that weren't selling and redesigned them to have a more functional floor plan and made room for better closets, kitchens and baths. The sales person just informed me that 6 of 16 have sold in the past month and a half... in this market that is fantastic. That totally put me in a good mood.
I'm off to the DMV... hopefully that doesn't wreck my day.

On the verge of something incredible happening in my professional life. Every step of this process has been uplifting, and a very important target was hit today. The spring weather in NYC isn't hurting any, either. It's a beautiful day.

Raleigh lacks in a lot of ways, but I can't imagine any other place where you can leave your office, drive to the DMV, register your car, get a new title and tags, pick up lunch at the Asian market next door, drive back to your office with no lunchtime traffic, put the new tags on your car, and eat your lunch all in 55 minutes. Seriously awesome.

An Anna's Hummingbird has built a nest right by our bedroom window. We watched her build it, and set up a tripod and camera to document. She's dutifully sitting on the nest right now - there's one tiny egg - but she makes me nervous because she seems to spend more time off than on it (they're supposed to spend 50-55 min per hour on the nest). I'm so hoping to see a baby hummingbird in a few weeks!
And we've got a pair of house finches building a nest in one of the hanging plants on the patio right now as I type. In front of the sliding glass door, in full view of the living and dining area. This is so cool! Spring is bustin' out all over.

That's so cool. Thanks for reminding me about baby bird season! I love watching for nests. When we lived in an apartment, hummingbirds had built a nest in our neighborhood, and it was fun to watch the nest from its inception up until the babies left it.

Beat this! I had an absolutely amazing day. Today, I had my second interview for my dream job, but the whole day was great. Not a spot of traffic all the way from San Diego to LA. Absolutely nailed the interview. Got on famously with the hiring manager. Took a beautiful twilight stroll through the tree lined back roads of Beverly Hills. Helped an old woman cross the street who thanked me and told me that I reminded her of her husband as "he was dark too". While waiting on a friend to join me for dinner, cruised through West Hollywood with the top down, a balmy breeze blowing and In Rainbows blasting. Pretty much 99% sure I saw Charlotte Gainsbourg at a stoplight in Hollywood. It looked just like her, she had the same accent and she had a driver. I was singing along to 'Down Is The New Up' while our cars were waiting at a redlight. I turned, made eye contact and did that squinty "is that who I think it is" thing. She rolled down her window, yelled out to me to turn it up and then started singing along with me. "Doooowwwn is the new uuuuuuuup!" Had an amazing dinner with a friend I hadn't seen since college and drove all the way home to SD without a spot of traffic and with a smile plastered on my face the entire way. Good fucking day.

We are a healthy bunch here Amy. Half the people run at work or do something like that so a shower after a 5 mile run is nice to have around.
