Glasvegas were pretty good. had a great stage setup w/ the flood lights, like a mini muse light setup and in the tiny troubadour made for a pretty intense show. they played like 8 or 9 of the 10 songs they got and they sounded very good. I posted some videos on my youtube. but i agree w/ shyguy i wouldnt go out of my way to see them again although i really enjoyed last night. The Legend Rick Rubin was there and seemed to be really diggin them.

how was carl barat as the opener? Seems weird that he was playing songs solo from two bands he was in that are both kaput...
I really thought Romance at Short Notice was a rock solid album (and the libertines had some great tunes for him to work with, obv)

Glasvegas despit some technical difficulty were good at amoeba...walked out with $80 in vinyl...got asobi seksu - citrus, beach boys - endless summer, trail of dead - Festival thyme and The Faint - Fascination
god singer of Glasvegas looks so much like a young Joe Strummer.

the troubadour show was awesome. they actually broke out "fuck you it's over" from the christmas ep during the encore, a nice treat. i was only able to make it in time for the last song of the amoeba show. damn traffic. the sound in there is horrible.

they ended with the ronettes - be my baby (awesome and perfect for that wall of sound style) at amoeba

my friends (who care about glasvegas much more than me) were very underwhelmed with glasvegas at Amoeba, mostly with the vocals from the admittedly hung over lead vocalist. (that's also forgiving the shitty sound engineering at Amoeba, massive feedback ruined the first song.)
I thought that they were allright, given the fact that they're a one trick pony band with nothing new to offer really except fuzzy guitars over a copycat Wall of Sound theme. At least you know what you're getting with them. But I clearly do not understand all the hype. I mean really, you might as well just call them a cover band.

lets not forget it was a record store. also I don't hype them I just think their songs are fun to listen to...yes they take on that phil spector sound thats ok with me. also his voice was scratchy but at the same time have you seen clips of Joe Strummer singing? a lot of times his voice did that too. Rock n Roll

i went to both.
they were a lot louder at the troubadour and the songs they played seemed to be way longer.
the sound was very soft at amoeba, but in turn you could hear the vocals alot better. their drummer has to be one of the worst drummers i have ever seen and she basically does the same things on all the songs.
the guitar parts were all fine and with it soft (like it was at amoeba) it made it a lot more distinguishable what each guitar was doing.
i went to both shows really excited about the band, just think they sound better louder and a lot better on album. that is just my take on it.

.
yeah she was late on her timing at least three times at amoeba...I have a feeling she was fine in their local band setting but then they blew up and now she's thinking, "damn I'm good enough to be touring the world". I bet she's going to opt out soon and they'll replace her with a much better drummer.
