Underworld has evolved far more than Prodigy IMHO.
They create their own sounds and manage to stay both ahead of and divorced from The Curve (as it were)

The Prodigy are great, dont get me wrong, but are terribly dated now and inextricably linked to an embarassing era in Hot Topic-ey late 90s cheeze culture.

Underworld transcended that, even tho their heyday was roughly the same era.

that wasn't really what i was trying to say...it was just the closest i could come up with out the time...now that I've thought about i would say this:

i like underworld better because they aren't afraid of putting minimal, lowkey, beatless, listenable (rather than danceable) music into their songs. i feel like prodigy feels like they have to keep you moving 100% of the time....and what I said early about the artsyness of underworld over prodigy still applys (just not the effort part).

Quite Frankly the Underworld v. Prodigy comparison is somewhat unfair. I am an ABSOLUTE Underworld Fan (as evidenced by my Avatar). The last time I saw Underworld was incredible and I would (of course) love to see them in a festival setting like Coachella (plans to get to APW and Virgin this last summer fell through...)

However, to make a useful comparison between UW and Prodigy really doesn't seem to do either any justice. Both groups are incredibly talented and would put on an amazing...but so very different show. If you don't believe me on this, just look up Underworld or Prodigy live videos on Youtube. On top of that, keep in mind that much of The Prodigy's earlier stuff was inspired by Underworld (especially considering Karl and Rick have been calling themselves Underworld since the mid-1980s. Granted, their inspiration was Kraftwerk (who I would call the Fathers of Techno). Don't believe me? Listen to some early work by Kraftwerk, then listen to some of the early work by UW, and then listen to the Prodigy...the clear connections and progressions in their sounds are amazing.

Again, I would love to see both. If there were a conflict, I would go to the Underworld stage (just because they are a huge influence on me), but if The Prodigy were there instead of Underworld, I would still be happy.

I went from Chicago to see that Central Park show and I would agree that there was something missing from it. Vibe was off. It was a good show, but not great. They can and have done much better. Their 2003 Coachella performance was to me pretty epic (one of the best I've seen in 6 years of attending Coachella) and even their 2008 peformance at Ultra for WMC was a much better peformance.
