looks like set date for it will be June 7 as Metric already announced that they'll be playing it.

Sweet! I am already there. Works out nicely it's the Sunday before Bonnaroo.

I went in 07 but I skipped it in 08, didn't have anyone I wanted to see...

The problem with this is they tend to announce their lineup super late. Usually a couple weeks after Coachella, which translates to only 2 or 3 weeks before the festival itself.

Given the strength of the new Metric album, I am slightly interested. They usually have shit on the lineups you have to sit through though. We shall see.

Last year was: Flogging Molly, The Hold Steady, Cold War Kids, MGMT, The Whigs, Santogold, Nortec Collective

Year I went was: Interpol, Kings of Leon, Spoon, Living Things, The Aggrolites

Quite the drop in quality over 1 year.

Well, I don't think either year is good. But that's just me.

what about 05-06 when Muse, YYY's, Death Cab played? I didn't go, but that year was fucking sick. At OAT. Also 07 and 08 had good lineups what you guys talking about? Tickets are only 40 bucks, and there is a good vibe at that little fest.

i went that year. you forgot about franz ferdinand too. by far the best lineup they've ever had. i'm not sure i would call this a festival though.

New Death Cab is vomit inducing. That band died 4 years ago.

I would call it a mini fest. I knew I left someone out. My money is on The Black Keys, and YYY's this year. If this is the case tickets will be gone so quick. The Black Keys are so big in SD it's lovely.

The Secret Machines were there, too.

That was a good year. The whole family went courtesy of free tickets that the four of us won at two different Random Acts of Kindness. You've gotta love 949 for that.

The Black Keys are especially big here? I didn't know that. I don't know anyone personally who's a fan of them. But I have weird friends...

Yeah Yeah Yeahs would be fucking great and the more I think about it, the more I realize how possible that is... seeing as they're in Washington the weekend before.

YYYs and Metric on one stage is quite the combination. I wonder if that's ever happened before.

sorry pancakes that you are still a minor. I meant to say 21+ go nuts for the black keys. when they play SD it's usually venues 21+, and if it's the black keys it's usually the deal where only balcony is all ages. Also they sell out instantly. SD last march was gone in less than a week, and you know how long it takes for shows to sell out in SD.

They sold out House of Blues in less than a week? Jesus.

Nobody I know likes the Black Keys... only you crazy internet folks haha...

not internet folks thing. It's the college students, and the casbah/bellyup crowds. So chill. Like at Soco music fest last year it was packed like crazy for the black keys. I can't wait for them to come back to SD. Do you even like the black keys?

My husband and I will be there. We're going to take the back roads on the motorcycle this year for the added fun factor.

No girls, unfortunately. :(

They won't return to CA from school until mid-May. atom heart does poke her head onto the boards from time to time, but only in the LOST and Schoolio's Movie threads.

Two threads I rarely venture into. Well hopefully they will be able to rejoin us in the desert one of these years. Are you taking the 79/371/74 route? That's the way I go. Much more scenic, and no traffic at all.

Also a better chance of death, have fun with that.

This thread is getting incredibly derailed, but yeah, I was considering taking that route last year. Glad to see some other San Deigans do so. I might still do it this year but I donno. The oppurtunity to have 100% no traffic is hard to pass up. And Anza-Borrego is an incredibly beautiful area...

I just like the winding downhill part that dumps you into Palm Springs. It's the climax of the drive.

Yep, thattaway. We're looking forward to it. It'll be so fun on a bike. Absolutely no death will be involved.

Hey, don't lump all underage people from San Diego together! Haha, I am going to Coachella with a group of 14 and we are all stoked for The Black Keys.

it's the worst highway in the whole state. you don't hear abou the car accidents/deaths because you are in SD, but it happens way too much. I'm just saying be safe.

I thought you were hinting at some roving murderous biker gang, or frequent locust swarms.

I'm a pretty cautious driver. We should be alright.

Back to the point of the thread, isn't the IndyJam way down in Chulajuana at Southwestern College? I used to date a girl that went there and I had to pick her ass up from there all the time when I lived in Ocean Beach, much farther away from most San Diegans than say, Qualcomm or Petco Park. Even the Embarcadero is a much better and more centrally located spot.
