Newbie questions and wonderings

I'm a Coachella newbie flying solo this year. After reading through the different threads I have a few questions about how things work "la ville de Coachella!"

IS it true there are no in/out privileges between the festival grounds and the camp site?

Can I bring a camera into the festival with me, even if it has video capabilities? (Its a Canon powershot A560)

Do you vets recommend getting a locker?

Should I slug around a backpack? or do you recommend a fannypack?

Can I bring in my own food? what about snackish type goodies, such as trail mix or granola bars?

Shoes or flip-flops?

And any other wisdom you part upon this newbie's inexperienced mind.
