You're kidding, right?
EDM is one of the biggest draws for Coachella. If you look at the major festivals in Europe (which, some would argue, are typically better than ours) one thing they have in common is huge EDM names. If you don't like dance music, you might be better off going to another festival. Coachella is all about it so get used to it.

If you don't want dance music, go to any other festival in the US, this is what makes Coachella #1, thanks!

If you don't like dance music, chances are it's because you don't like dancing. If you don't like dancing, chances are it's because you can't let loose. If you can't let loose, you should show up at the sahara next year around 9pm and I'll put something in the palm of your hand. You will swallow it and proceed to have the time of your life. Problem solved.

I like to swing by and see what the kids are up to between sets, and caught great acts like Presets and Daft Punk over the years, but generally I'm there for the bands.
The ratios right now seem pretty good if you ask me, but the quality across the board this year was sort of down I must admit (still had a blast).

lol Etienne De Crecy was the second most intense show I saw ALL WEEKEND (seconding Ghostland Observatory). If you don't like to dance, or to hear dance music, just pick a different section of the venue. With four stages other than the Sahara, you'd have to be crippled not to be able to find a stage that better suits you (no offense to the fine wheelchair-bound Coachellagoers!). You're that asshole who would cut in with five people trailing you to fuck up my steps... so stay away next time and do us both a favor =)

That it does. As the years progress I find myself spending more and more time in the Sahara. What can I do, I like to dance. The breakdown was probably 3/5 in the Sahara and the remaining 2/5 divvied up among the other stages. Most of the being the Main.

I like the other stages at Coachella just as much as the dance tents. When everyone started clearing out of the Sahara to go see the Killers before MSTRKRFT i instantly knew that Goldenvoice = genius, and I felt like writing Paul T. a personal 'thank you' letter.
If you like the Killers then fine, but i had such a wonderful time at MSTRKRFT and it would have been impossible to duplicate watching a rock band or whatever the Killers call themselves these days.

the Sahara tent
the Dome
the Do-Lab
select EDM/dance acts in the Gobi
Heineken mini-dome
KROQ tent
section "A" of the campground
& (i guess) the 'Learn to DJ' tent
... were all spinning EDM, take your pick...
strangely enough, the few times i went into the heineken dome & the kroq tent, there was some sick shit being dropped...

Poorly worded, but yeah... do you realize how much rock/blues/jazz/dance/rap/etc uses 4/4 time? I'd say 99% of it at least.
I know the verses of NIN's March of the Pigs are in 7/8, and he also has a song on Downward Spiral in 13/8, but that's pretty experimental shit. If you can nod your head to it, its probably in 4/4. That doesn't make it dance music.

In the context I was using 4:4, I was implying the use of a kick drum on every other beat alternated with a hi hat or snare on the other. This specific percussive rhythm sequence is used extensively in EDM. 4:4 time signature, on the other hand, is used in many genres of music but does not necessarily require the kick/snare sequence mentioned above.

Personally, I'm good with the Sahara being at Coachella and it's location is great, way in the back and keeps all the dancing maniacs in neon clothing on drugz nicely out of the way... but throw in the do lab/dome/Heineken thingy eeking out into everywhere... now that's pushin it. As long as you realize that the context in which you were using the term was not a context in which anyone else would understand.
Actually, kick-snare-kick-snare comes up a lot in all sorts of genres, and isn't that dancy... more specific to dance music would be "four on the floor" or kick-kick-kick-kick. Squeeze in a high-hat on the offbeats, and you've got a break (which might be what you meant up above, but technically incorrect because the snare isn't on the beat.)
(All of these are in 4/4, by the way.)
