View Full Version : Petition To Have Metal Bottles Sold Online

Now that the fest is over, and Steve Aoki and Paul McCartney are no longer prime targets for a bottle launched at 30 meters, can we have our metal bottles now?

I know thousands of those things were made. Sell 'em in the store please.

If they were sold online, who would buy one?

I was going to buy one at Coach but when I saw they were crummy plastic that changed. In all fairness they can't really sell metal bottles. They're too perfect to be used as missiles. All it takes is one person nailing a performer on stage...

sweet. Signed.

The reasonable part of me wonders how is security going to explain you can't bring them into the fest next year?

I say the metal bottles will never surface.

I think they were planning on it, I have no idea why you are asking now when you shoudl wait til the store has all 2009 stuff and if its missing, you ask this question.

Yes, my plastic bottle just went through the dishwasher for the first time and the paint came off on one side. It's making me sad. Like part of me is slowing disappearing like Marty's hand in BTTF1.

Since you're in the mood to be doling out pointers, what else should I do homie?

I'll be sure to consult with you before doing anything in the future.

i want one, but it would depend on the price. if i recall correctly, they had said they were going to sell for $25 as part of the water program, but they'd have to cut that price down considering that there's no unlimited free water with them...then again, i have unlimited water on tap at home.

My plastic bottle is moribund, so a nice metal one would be nice.

Monklish

Signed. I was really looking forward to getting a metal water bottle because I am constantly keeping plastic bottles of water in my car and I understand that the heat they're exposed to sitting in my hot car all day waiting for me to get off work actually melts the plastic and seeps carcinogenic elements into the water.

Please do this.

I saw people at Coachella with metal water bottles that looked exactly like the ones that were on the coachella website, but I was never able to see if there was a logo on them or not, so wasn't sure if those were special people who happen to get a hold of one before they banned em (doubtful), but nonetheless they were able to sneak metal ones in.

Good news: the metal water bottles are in the store!!!!!

Bad news: they're $30 fucking dollars!!!!!!!!!! Really?

and here's a link for the microphone bottle...they are both located in the poster section for some reason.

At least they're available. I'm a little sad I won't be getting one. No water bottle is worth 60 Jack In The Box tacos.

Courtney

I like the microphone one because the green looks good on silver.

But it looks the bottle has a plastic sports bottle-style cap, which I'm not really into. Did the bottle design always have those? Maybe I was so enamored with the idea of a metal Coachella water bottle before that I didn't notice the icky cap.

menikmati
06-09-2009, 06:51 PM
Nope, I think those plastic sports bottle-style caps are our first glimpse at the caps...I'm not a fan of that part either.

I signed the petition, and then didn't buy one even though I placed an order for a poster and a sweatshirt yesterday.

A small protest against the price increase, lack of any tangible extra benefit (free water at coachella), and not knowing if I would be allowed to bring it on site next year (the most logical place to show of a cool, overpriced waterbottle)

I flip flopped.

How would you get water out of that sport bottle cap? It's not like these are squeezable. Most of the Sigg 1L metal bottles are $25-30, so this isn't crazy pricing.

menikmati
06-12-2009, 01:35 PM
I suggest installing a new cap.

Courtney
06-12-2009, 01:40 PM
I agree that the price is reasonable but I also agree that sports caps on metal bottles are not good. But even on plastic bottles, sports caps are questionable. It's a tremendous feat of modern marketing genius that sports caps allow beverage companies to charge additional money to make their customers look like big babies.

yeah, but SIGG has made an effort to try and create some separation with their quality. Its not all marketing; Backpacker Magazine called SIGG the toughest water bottle after some rigorous tests... Anybody whose bought the bottle wanna chime in with build quality and internal coating comments??

[Vaguely relevant anecodotal rambling]

When I was in the army reserve, I rigorously tested a variety of drinks and drinks bottles, and will put my hard-earned seal of approval only on the squeezy plastic sports caps.

There's no risk of contaminating your water in a swamp or losing the lid in a ruckus and being left unable to refill. You keep yourself hydrated without even thinking about it, and it's far easier to paw it out of a pocket, slurp, and dump it back in than with a screwtop.
