whats up everybody, this seems kind of cheesy.
but im posting this because i DJed at the dome for
the pre-party on thursday and the afterhours on friday.
i played first both nights. thursday i played electro house
and dance remixs. friday i played a reggae set and a electro set.
i was giving out mix CDs and i ran out. if anybody wanted one
you can download the mix from my website.
i had a great time, the crowd was amazing.
the other 2 Djs on thursday were Big Sam and Pablo Hassan.
they played dub step. it was just me and Sam on friday.
there is pictures on my site also. sorry for the shameless plug,
but there was a few people that didnt get CDs and i want them
to have a chance to get want i was giving out.
thanks for the great experience.
the line up was all messed up, some of the dome DJs didnt get to play.
we were several hours behind. other performers on different stages said we
were too loud so we had to turn it down or off.
thanks again!
(i was reluctant to post this because it seemed kind of strange)
here is my website

check the blog, i have notes on my experience on both nights

I thought u did great thursday night
the plugs every 20min though got redundant. Just mix man, no one cares about free mix tapes and free downloads.
But ya, good shit.

thanks for the kind words.
well, there really wasnt that much bass on stage.
nothing like in front, my gosh!
the stage was great though, it was one of the best setups
i have DJed on in a long time.
yeah, Sam is a real cool guy.
as far as the mic goes, im ususally not on it much.
but i was so hyped up i felt inclined to do so.
might have been a little much, and sorry if it was.
but the people in front of me were really hyped up!
i dont think i recognized one person in the crowd.
when that happens, and its going good, im on the mic
letting people know who i am.
i dont have i hype man or promo team.
well my sister and her boyfriend helped on thursday.
i usually do all of my own promo and outreach.
it was a great time for me, it wasnt my best set
ever, but it was good enough for me.
im glad there was some people that enjoyed it too.
someone actually threw something at me on thursday.
we left it on stage, it was still there on saturday.
kind of a joke i guess.

thursday was cool. i agree, the 20 min plugs was pretty amateur. but its all good, i aint haiting. friday was cool too. nothing mind blowing though. just my opinon so dont take it the wrong way.
as for saturday, it would have been nice to chill to some deep house for the after hours. but instead they decided to play progressive? I just figur by saturday afterhours, all the campers are ready to chill to some soulful beats like miguel migs, mark farina, peven everett....

Saturday was all dubstep in the dome if i'm not mistaken, i didn't go to the afterhours but that's what i thought was going on in the dome late night because of all the dubstep durring the day.

I thought Thursday was cool, I didn't make it to the dome on Friday. But on Saturday I just remember it was electronic and Feather and Barbara were on stage dancing, twice...

cool, i thought thursday had more energy. i think people were excited for
the weekend. Sam XL, Pablo Hassan and myself were the only people on
thursday. Sam XL and myself were the only ones late friday night.
thursday i played electro house, dance remixs, classic techno,
and classic house. Sam XL and Pablo Hassan played dubstep.
i was first, then pablo, then sam.
friday i played reggae first, then Sam played dubstep i think.
then i played another electro house set. then Sam closed it out.
we went 30-45 mins each. 2 sets each.
now that i think about it, the mic wasn't that much.
i just think you guys aren't used to that kind of thing.
i got screams and other stuff from the crowd
in response to my mic shenanigans. so it was ok
i think. also,i have got really good response from the mix
i made. so people did want that too :)
its cool, everyone has a opinion, and i cant satisfy
everybody. i had alot of people to compete with
and im glad i didnt get complety bashed.
at the end of the day, it was a success.
thanks again guys.

I thought the bass sounded sooo good at the dome, I mean thats why they shut you guys down right? Is that what messed up some of the scheduling? I would have gone to Coachella just for the Dome and the Do Lab so I really hope the sound gets figured out for next year...I dug your set! and just curious how you guys became a part of the line up in the dome?

thanks for the kind words.
yeah, the bass was ridiculous. that was the reason some of the
line up got messed up. but it all worked out in the end i think.
i also think some of the acts on other stages were being
real picky about other music playing while they were playing.
its not like there wasnt 4 or 5 other stages. we were having
issues with the main stage mostly. the big names were complaining.
so, we were the side show, and we had to comply.
i was approached by one of the organizers right after coachella 2008.
i have DJed for him since i was 15, im 33 now. so, it was just a
natural thing for it to happen.
this is my second time DJing at coachella.
the first time was in 2001 i think, i DJed for MC supernatural. we did
a side tent right after Z-trip, and we did the main stage right before
the Roots. we were going to do the outdoor theater before or after
Gangstarr, but that didnt work out. it was about half the size of this year.
i got the gig for supernatural by being a up and coming L.A. hip hop
DJ. i was recommended by Mark Luv when we were working at Fat Beats.
but man, that main stage was ridiculous.
the dome was cool because it was up close and personal
with the crowd, and i was booked for me, not as a band/DJ member.
i even got my name on the website. cool stuff all around :)
