Hey I was just wondering how to get to the 2010 festival from LA City??

I'm from Australia and will be staying in LA for 2 weeks while the festival is on. Just needed to know the best way to get to the festival, and how long it will take to get there??

Was the name "Austin Powers" already taken?

If you post in the rides/carpools section closer to the date of the festival, i guarantee you will be able to find someone willing to help. I gave an aussie a ride from OC last year.

Sweet, thanks for the advice.

So do you remember where in Oz he was from?

If I don't carpool how do I get there? Can you take a coach/bus??

There's the greyhound but I highly recommend hitchin' a ride with someone random. That's what I did this year and I made wicked awesome friends. But chill. You have like a bazillion months left to work it out.

Nothing better than thinking ahead! In fact, when might those two weeks be? Exact dates preferred, but give n' take works also!

Yeh I want to carpool but just worried I might hook up with a serial killer! So I take it you had no problems??

And are you from Melbourne??

Haven't booked flights yet. Just waiting for the Coachella dates to get announced so I can make sure i'm in LA at the same time. When do they normally announce the dates??

ron_burgundy

Ah Perth, that's about a million miles away from me...

Find your way to the 10 freeway and head east.

Dates are usually announced late Summer/early Fall (September-October).

Cool...hey just a quick question. Does it normally sell out? The festivals we have in Australia usually sell out in 2 minutes and I can never get tickets. I don't want to miss out on Coachella!

It will never sell out.

So long as they delay anything huge (IE, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Zeppelin, etc), you should have more than enough time to buy your tickets.

So long as you don't lollygag about it.

I will definitely be buying tickets as soon as they go on sale.

Especially if Led Zep and Bowie are playing! Is that the prediction for next year??

No problems at all. And I'm a 5'3" girl.

And yes, I'm in Melbourne. It's super freaking cold right now.

That's awesome. I'm going with a friend anyway so it won't be too bad.

So how was the festival?? I've been meaning to get my ass over there for a few years now. I'm really over the crappy Big Day Out that we put on.

Umm well basically it was the most amazing and unforgettable weekend of my life. It was so friendly and welcoming and just comfortable. You'll love it.

Big Day Out got horrible. Luckily, Victoria has Meredith. Just one more reason why Melbourne is better than Sydney...

Haha yeh I agree, Melbourne is better than Sydney. I reckon Sydney sucks, i'm really over it. I actually moved to Melbourne for about 6 months and might move back some day.

So did you go to the States just for Coachella? Or did you see the rest of it too?

I only got my shit together in March, so I just went for Coachella but I because of ticket fuck ups I ended up having time in L.A. either side of the festival.

Don't stay in L.A. longer than you absolutely have to. And even then consider shortening your time there.

So I gather you don't like LA!?

I actually really like LA! I went all over the States about 2 years ago and loved it. This time i'm planning on spending 10 days in LA and 4 days in San Diego.

So then you only went for the festival?? Are you ever planning on doing the same for Glastonbury?

LA is awesome, you just have to know where to go. Bad planning of a trip isnt a reason to blame a city.

So do you have any suggestions on what I should do in LA? I'll be in LA for 10 days.

I already went to Disneyland, Universal Studios and the Walk of Fame/Grauman's Theatre the last time I was there. Also checked out a few bars on Sunset Boulevarde...
