I listened to it for the first time yesterday. Compared to their other two albums, it's not very impressive. It feels like they were writing music because they had to, instead of using it as an outlet.

I feel the same way. Alopecia completely infiltrated the inside of my head and stayed there for a long time. There was a period where when I wasn't listening to it, I was still oddly aware of it in the back of my mind. Like a crush. It was like I had a crush on it. It doesn't matter how talented you are, it's hard to follow that. Feels like a grower, though. Give me a minute.

Mind you I still like it a lot, but not as much as Alopecia as others are saying.

It's going on rotation for sure, good album.

I don't know how they were trying too hard, this was all recorded at the same time as Alopecia. There's some great songs, more often great lyrics, and a few throwaways that should have stayed unreleased. It's a lazy album so I'll take it for what it is - a stopgap with some stellar singles.
