Would anyone else be interested if I started a social group for lazy people who want to stop being lazy? I need to get stuff done, but I procrastinate, and it's a vicious cycle that's ruining my life. :thu
We could motivate each other.
Or just post cats. Whatevs.

I find being on this board has a lot to do with procrastination and laziness. Think how productive we all would be if we just quit here.

I've been cleaning my room all afternoon (between posts) and just dragged a dresser up a flight of stairs by myself on my own intiative, so at this moment, I don't really qualify. But in general, I'm one of the laziest, most unmotivated bastards around. How does this work? Do the laziest people get the highest offices? Are you allowed to join if you make the effort to try to join?

Officers would be too much work. It would just be a place to say "hey I cleaned the bathroom today instead of watching 6 hours of House on Saturday." Or at the VERY least "I cleaned the bathroom BEFORE I watched 6 hours of House on Saturday."

If you're out of work, you could also say "I wrote out a new resume and sent it to 20 companies today." --stuff like that that needs to get done but you're putting off.

This is very true. I find my most productive times are when I intentionally don't come to the board when I want to.
Or at the VERY least "I cleaned the bathroom BEFORE I watched 6 hours of House on Saturday."
If you watch 6 hours of the same show on a Saturday, you are definitely lazy.

I think about it. I also think about the day when I go to try on my jeans and find my ass has enlarged from sitting here and they won't fit. I've even thought of having suffacated take the power cord away from my PC... followed by the thought of wrapping it around his neck if he does...
Lazy people don't show initiative.
Oh, please...I make it a point to look for a job before I come here to squat and nest for the day!

I exaggerated, actually. I haven't done anything for the past few days. Today, though, I started an account with my new power company, paid next month's rent, applied for six months of temporary health insurance, set up my new internet service, ordered various and sundry computer-related pieces to make newer things work with older things, and changed my voter registration. All to avoid doing the actual physical job of packing things up and throwing things out. Sometimes laziness begets productivity.

I was too lazy to respond to this thread until now. I'm also too lazy to figure out how to become a member of that social group.
This LeechBlock (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4476) tool is great for folks who find the board, or any other website, to be a time drain. You can have Firefox block certain websites for you at certain times of the day. So, for example, I could set it so that I'm only allowed to view the board for 10 minutes each hour. Or I could set it so that I'm only allowed to view the board between 5pm and 8pm on Mondays through Fridays.

THINGS I AM GOING TO DO TODAY SO THAT I AM NOT LAZY:
walk the dog
catch up on e-mail
catch up on RSS feed subscriptions
clean the bedroom
clean the bathroom
do laundry
make carrot salad
finish writing Birk article
pack gym bag for Monday
BONUS POINTS IF I'M FEELING REALLY REALLY UNLAZY:
drop off dry cleaning
work on quant GMAT prep book
take broken ipod to apple store
finish last week's Economist
e-mail my editor to pitch ideas

Can you please delete this post Courtney? I'm begging you! If suffacated sees this, I'm doomed! Doomed, I tell ya! I just know he'll do it while I'm sleeping or some shit, and when I go to sign on, the glitch will undoubtedly cause me to go into the "Dani Avatar Mode," followed by the System Restore Method! Please???

Considering two of those were computer oriented and she's still here posting, I bet the odds 10-1 she doesn't make it to the bathroom... of course, if that's the case, she'll have to do laundry, huh?
To be fair, I already finished doing the top three earlier this morning. I just put them on the list because I like crossing things off.
I've done this before. As a matter of fact, suffacated used to give me a hard time because I would get into making an elaborate "Things to Do" list, complete with artwork and custom lettering. He claimed that by the time I perfected my list for the day, it was time to start the next day's list! (He was pretty much spot on, but atleast to me it looked like I had done something! LOL)
On a side note...Seeing as I was "un-lazy" until about 4:30 am today,:rolleyes I have set aside an ample amount of time to replenish and restore myself with energy by either sitting in my t-shirt and underwear until atleast 4:30pm...Or, quite possibly plugging myself into the mattress and hooking my head up to the pillow...Not sure yet...
