Since the word about the next album, but for a brief Land of Talk interval, I've listened to nothing but Sound of Silver over and over.

We had an awesome real life work-montage moment in the shop earlier on to Tribulations. I'd have appreciated it much more if I wasn't working at the time, but it was cool all the same.

Yeah I feel like they'll be there.

LCD Soundsystem(Friday)/Basement Jaxx(Saturday)/Orbital(Sunday) seem like pretty safe bets for Sahara headliners.

Though what if GV pulls a wildcard and gives us a night of Hot Chip > LCD Soundsystem > Basement Jaxx? What raucous disco fun that would be!

LCD does rule, but the Sahara tent is usually reserved for massive techno rave beats (cept Late of the Pier. That was an epic FAIL). I see them more as a Mojave headliner than a Sahara headliner.

I'd rather see Aphex Twin or Squarepusher or Orbital or Underworld or The Presets (again) or Boys Noize as potential late nighters in the Sahara.

BTW, Boys Noize has a new album out.

An indie band? Have you been listening to the same LCD Soundsystem as the rest of us?

The same LCD Soundsystem who make albums full of cosmic disco, acid house, minimal, electro, ambient, kraut rock and everything in between. One of the most progressive acts in all of EDM.

you guys are so gay for this band it's retarded. they're good, yes. they are fun, yes. but putting them as a Sahara closer would be so out of bounds inappropriate they might as well have DJ sets on the mainstage too, ala Tiesto (aka weakness). think "where does this band fit?" obviously Sahara at night, but no closer. duh.

you say it like there's some Sahara Member's Only club. there really isn't. and it's not that hard to figure it in, LCD will not HEADLINE the Sahara Tent. i'll just state this as fact now, and come back to this thread when the lineup is announced, and they're playing the Outdoor Theatre, and i will chuckle a little to myself in remembrance.

They did not headline...the rapture did. They were billed right ahead of LCD Soundsystem and closed out the sahara tent. I don't see how one could argue that the Rapture did not headline the Sahara tent when they both had top billing and played last.

That being said I have no problem with LCD Soundsystem in the Sahara tent it was a lot of fun last time, but I could also see them on the outdoor theatre to change it up a bit.

So did Tiesto headline over the Red Hot Chili Peppers then as well? Pointless arguments aside, if LCD plays next year I hope Goldenvoice has enough sense to put them on the main stage. The Sahara would be unbearably crowded if they played there again.

It was a brief, magical couple of seconds for me when it dawned that they were the guys queuing behind me for the site office.

For just that moment, the course of their immediate future lay in my hands. Their queuing future, but still. Such power! Anyway, anytime LCD Soundsystem play anywhere, I want you all to take a moment and consider that. They're only able to play because I chose to continue queuing like a normal person, rather than doing anything crazy or disabling.

It wasn't an easy choice, either.

If LCD played..

If it was in the Sahara, it'd be really crowded... but the vibe would be better than the mainstage. Its just not as fun watching LCD SS on a stage infront of a big crowd as opposed to the Sahara tent.

LCD was definitely the headliner. I don't care about positioning on the poster. It's not like they were 5 lines apart. They were right next to each other.

On the early posters, they were indeed billed as Special Disco Version. Some of the later stuff I saw had them as "LCD Soundsystem (DJ Set)" or "LCD Soundsystems' James & Pat".

That's neither here nor there though. I don't think they brought the LCD SS name into it at all - I think that was the festival promoters or whoever - and I don't really think they were trying to stiff us. But personally, if Pat and James are at a festival I'm going to, I'd like them to be there in an LCD Soundsystem capacity, myself. Anything else is just a cruel tease.

Agreed...I've seen them on a "mainstage-type set up" at ACL. The vibe was pretty weak until the end when the squares cleared out. We made up for it during the "Yeah Yeah Yeah" closer.

kinda curious as to your position on who headlined in '08, Aphex or Fatboy?

EDIT: meaning placement on the poster, set time given.. Aphex is higher on the poster, and played the 'traditional' Sahara headlining slot of not during playing during the main stage headliner..

redthreat
10-09-2009, 07:27 AM
fatboy played more of a 'headliner set' - though aphex was amazing. the video, track selection and general mood was perfect. remember when he dropped 'love is in the air?' fatboy knows how to throw a party. aphex knows how to generally astound. very different and very suitable for different time and places, that night, fatboy was placed at the apex (not aphex) of the night very wisely.
