on another note, I wonder who will be opening on these new dates. (and I'm not talking about s&k). they've had an good set so far -- klaxons, ratatat, the rapture. if you count festivals you'd have to throw in lcd soundsystem and soulwax as well. who opened on the other european dates?

They would've been better than Ratatat, but they're not nearly as fun live as The Rapture.

I think Digitalism opened for them in Berlin (or another German city).

I have a strong feeling that the Close Encounters intro will not be on the Alive 2007 CD due to copyright issues/royalty fees. If anything it wouldn't be titled "Close Encounters intro"..that probably costs an extra few dollars. This is just me piecing together info all over the internet and likely speculation, call me Daft Radiohead Puma.

I was quite happy with ratatat. didn't show up early enough to see the rapture. (curse you early shows). and actually, thinking back to the klaxons show I saw, I was quite disappointed. I loved their album, until that night. still, at the time I thought it was cool that daft had them as an opener.

Bulletin from The Presets: AUSTRALIAN TOUR

DAFT PUNK

Rejoice, Australian earthlings, because Modular Touring & Michael Coppel can confirm that, FINALLY, Daft Punk will bring their now legendary pyramid spectacular to Australia for four live shows of blind-siding robot rock at Never Ever Land, this December.

Never Ever Land is a utopian dreamland: a one day live show and party from tomorrow that features magical music from a seemingly faraway place, conveniently packaged and delivered to you at 4 open air locations around Australia to kick start the summer.

Never Ever Land will be expanding realities around the country on the following dates:

FRIDAY DECEMBER 14TH – SIDNEY MYER MUSIC BOWL – MELBOURNE
SUNDAY DECEMBER 16TH – THE ESPLANADE – PERTH* (Perth City)
THURSDAY DECEMBER 20TH – THE RIVERSTAGE – BRISBANE
SATURDAY DECEMBER 22ND – MAIN ARENA, SYDNEY SHOWGROUND – HOMEBUSH, SYDNEY
*Subject to City of Perth’s approval

Accompanying the seminal daft robots is a line up that has been hand picked from Around The World:

• The Presets have notched up enough frequent flyer miles in the last couple of years to go with Richard Branson to the moon and back, but have not played on Australian soil for some time. These will be amongst their last shows before they unleash album #2 on the world.
• SebastiAn and Kavinsky are from the Ed Banger stable of French producers currently tearing up dancefloors around the globe. SebastiAn has risen to notoriety through his ball-busting remixes of the likes of Cut Copy, Bloc Party, The Rapture and Kelis, while Kavinsky is the scene’s man of mystery, with nary a photo to be seen and the excellent Teddy Boy and 1986 EP’s to his name.
• Muscles has gone from a myspace phenomenon to a living breathing festival slaying one man band, with already-anthems Ice Cream and Sweaty in his canon converting fans all around the world. Fresh from supporting Soulwax in the UK and touring Europe, Muscles will hold it down solo at Never Ever Land.
• What more can be said about The Bang Gang Deejays that hasn’t been sung already, the premier party DJ’s, the hosts with the absolute most, the guys that put the why in party, Never Ever Land could simply not be imagined without The Bang Gang. Realise.
…MORE to be announced shortly.

Tickets will be available from Thursday September 13th from Ticketmaster, inthemix.com.au, and selected outlets.

Courtesy of EMI, the first release of tickets will include an Australian tour edition of Musique Vol. 1 1993-2005, the anthology of Daft Punk’s career and a great taster of what will be covered by their live shows at Never Ever Land.

From Friday August 31ST register at www.nevereverland.com.au for updates and news.

Yeah thats an SLR, probably a canon. You could find out by checking the site its being hotlinked from. And its the promoter in Japan apparently, so who knows where the shot is from.

HunterGather
08-30-2007, 11:55 PM
Yeah, that's where it's from.

Anyhoo, anyone remember the DVD someone from here made comprising of multiple videos of Coachella set to the BC bootleg?

I wanna do the same thing for the 2007 shows and set it to the official CD that comes out in November. I got a Mac with Final Cut Express HD and all that good stuff.

It'd be awesome to get urry bodies input, especially those who posted those Berkley and Seattle videos pages back (sorry, forget who did those offhand)!
If possible at some free point, could I get a DV file of it, so I get the highest video quality?
And anyone else who even has the smallest video that could help. (except ones taken by cell phones...)
Doesn't matter what show you were at, it'll all work, if I got enough to make the whole show.
I'll even mix in the 02 Wireless broadcast of One More Time and Da Funk (and if there are good angles from other shooters, replace the damn audience shots!).
I could track down people who posted good videos on Youtube and such, but that is putting a little too much thought into it.

And if anyone cares, I don't know if this was posted here or not, but 2 long clips from the Dusseldorf and Bercy shows here in DIVX format, which I'd prolly use too:

http://stage6.divx.com/user/openDVB/video/1372797/Daft-Punk-Live-Duesseldorf-30-06-2007
http://stage6.divx.com/user/Unblogged/video/1321115/Daft-Punk---Live-at-Paris,-Bercy

I like this site. It's like a DIVX youtube, but it kinda suffers from not being big enough yet because there aren't millions of videos on it.

I'd say The Presets are on par with those openers. When I saw them open for Hot Chip last year (or it might've been The Rapture, actually) they weren't that amazing. The only part of their set I was really feeling was actually a Daft Punk cover.

Assuming I can get funds to go to Vegas or Mexico, I'm not sure what to do!
The venue in Mexico is big and I'm afraid I wont be as close as I want, and of course a small festival is always a gamble too...

ficklecycle

How close do you want to be? Considering Vegoose is not just Daft, I'm sure you wont have a hard time with positioning.

You need to get yourself to one of these though.

& if anything you could win all the money for the trip on the slots if you get lucky.

Im not talking front-row ish. Towards back ish. Not too far back. Maybe 40-60 people behind.
And I don't know what it is about me, but I always have to pee alot when I go to shows, so I usally have to do 1 of 2 things:
1-Hold it and think for the entire show "I GOTAA PEEE"
2-Go pee, and have the worst fucking time getting back to where I was-ish.

Red Rocks was no problem. Matter of fact, I left my spot several times to pee, walk around, smoke, and had no problem.

Seattle was a little different. I had to pee again when the Rapture was playing, and my friend asked everyone around us to let us back in the circle when we get back hahaha.
It was a tight squeeze. We got ugly looks by damn hipsters, but eventually got back to our spot. :D

I can go a whole 10 hour shift at work without peeing, but I gotta go 20 times at a show!

ficklecycle
09-01-2007, 02:35 PM
I know how you feel. I never pee at shows. It feels like I don't even pee the day of a show at all. I have the same problems at movies. I think you'd have an easier time getting back in at Vegoose.

kingsblend420

I think they will have bathrooms in the back of the field opposite the stage so you wont have to go too far.

I hardly ever pee at shows. I never pee at coachella even though I am drinking like an irishman all day long. Its probably because of all the sweating.

Random thought:
Wouldn't it be awesome if Daft Punk did Ultra Music Festival (not to be confused with Bang) in Miami in feb/march and then finish the tour at Coachella 2008 in April...
...
Rainy days suck...

I dont want to see Daft Punk at Coachella again unless it's completely different aka no pyramid. I guess if they do come back they will have to play main stage, which is stupid. If they played in the tent, at least 10,000 would be bummed they couldnt fit. I would be way down for them to play a straight up dj set with some turntables, no extravagant theatrics.

at both LA and berkeley a friend had to leave to go to the bathroom. I honestly didn't think they would find me again, but I had bright bleach-blonde hair at the time, and in both cases it stood out enough that they were able to find me again in those huge crows.

I rarely leave to go pee if I'm in the middle of a crowd though. I did that for the yeah yeah yeahs the other week and I never got back to as good of a spot. blah.

eh... I don't think anyone can leave their spot and reasonably expect to get back. if you leave, you give it up. it's a free for all. you don't have any more right to that spot just because you stood there once.

having said that, at the very large concerts in europe, they sometimes have a separate section at the front. they only let so many people in there, and they give them wristbands so that they can leave and come back again easily. bathroom problem solved.

I remember them having a separate section at the front of the sahara -- I was in there for the first 1/2 of daft, until I wanted room to move. that was a little different though. they let a limited number of people in, but no wristbands to get back in. so if you leave, you've left for good.

At the LA Arena show I left the second or third row of people towards the center just after Ratatat ended, and started off at the side of the front (I was barely even in the crowd) when Daft Punk went on. Within fifteen or twenty minutes I'd danced my way back to pretty much where I was before, so getting my spot back wasn't really an issue.

hmm what do you guys make of the seating chart? the on sale page gives me a choice of NIVEL B, NIVEL A, NIVEL C, NIVEL D, and NIVEL E, from most expensive to least expensive. the seating chart doesn't indicate where NIVEL A is though -- is that the floor? yet it's not the most expensive ticket? hmm...

Brando! Claiming the work of other's as your own. Shameful. You owe that girl an apology. She has a lot of great pictures.

But i swear I saw myself one night while rocking out to Suprefans video when he turned the camera around to look behind. But I might have been drunk.

Random thought.
I really like the Rapture.
I regret not actually listining to their albums before seeing them on Dafts tour.
They were great live, but it's a little hard to enjoy new music live, at least for me.
After getting a few songs stuck in my head at the shows I went to, I can't stop listening to their stuff!

Yes it is, this person had to have had access to it, they were never sold to the public unless you knew who the artist was and went to their site to buy it.(if that was even the case) Thats the only way they couldve gotten it. I wonder how much they paid for it if they indeed bought it. And I would never sell that poster if I got it.

Edit: his site has one selling on e bay, guess that mightve been the only way. And its only been up since yesterday. The photo of it on there seems to be higher res, I would take that image and print my own on nice paper. Kinkos here I come, or some cool print shop that will do it.
