you should man, such an incredible time. Very, very easy to get around all the countries. I took a tour on Intrepid from Singapore through Mayalysia and into Bangkok, then met a buddy. We traveled north to wonderful Chiang Mai, took a 2 day boat ride on the Mekong River into Laos, flew to Hanoi and took public buses (not the most comfortable, i'll warn you in advance) to all the way down Vietnam. THen a simple bus took us from Ho Chi Minh city to Cambodia.

Everything was seriously planned and purchased the day before. People are incredibly friendly and helpful and many locals speak English. Most guesthouses can arrange transportation and plan activities for you. The countries have fantastic tourism services (for the most part) so with a good guidebook, a conversation with a backpacker or local, getting around is easier than you would think. Traveling felt like half the trip though. be prepared for long, long uncomfortable rides squashed next to Europeans on tiny minibuses. All part of the trip though.

Everything is very inexpensive over there, with the exception of Singapore, which is still cheaper than America. An 6 course meal with a cocktail at a nice resteraunt is 8 bucks in Vietnam. We had 2 Cobras which fed 4 people +tons of vodka for 30 bucks, a true delicacy. Good, clean, hot water guesthouses will run you no more than 12 bucks a night. Go with a friend and split it, works great. Draft beer is 18 cents in Vietnam, maybe $1 for a big bottle in Lao or Thailand.

if you can afford 25 bucks a day, you can eat 3 excellent meals, stay in clean places to yourself with private bathroom and hot shower and do/go any place you want to. We took half day boat tours to islands off the coast of Vietnam and Laos for like 6 bucks, lunch included.

if you got any more questions hit me up. Otherwise, I can't recommend it enough. I can't wait to go back.

Oh by the way, if I remember correctly, a 1 1/2 hour oil massage by a pretty Thai girl in a non shaddy massage parlor was $4. God I miss those

It was a popular service for backpackers to go from Chiang Mai,Thailand into Laos. it was this, a really long bus ride or fly. 18-30 is exactly right. Very few Americans backpack there which is sad. I think I met 3 Americans in my 2 months in South East Asia. Tons of Europeans(germans espeically), Australians, Canadians and Israelies.

yeah, it's like two blocks from my house....the trail around the perimeter (there's trails all over the place) is about 3 miles all the way around. It's a very cool, and relaxing hike. I've done it a couple times recently. Great way to spend a saturday/sunday afternoon if you ask me.

I would think the rules are pics that you took while out and about, with no touch ups or anything in post (I always kinda think touching up photos to share kinda defeats the purpose)....just kinda like what you captured in the moment. It's ok Mick. We established the rules a long long time ago so I think it's time for a refresher. I made this thread back when I joined the old board four years ago with the hopes that people would post their own personal photographs in here and steer clear of the cheap internet photos, gifs, cartoons, whatever. It's been a relatively successful thread and it has helped us appreciate those who contribute and see a little piece of their lives. Since most of the ones you posted were quite photoshopped, I assumed you found them on teh internets and thought they were cool and decided to post them. I am now moded because they are yours. I haven't however decided the rules on intensely photoshopped pictures. I feel it kind of defeats the purpose of showing our regular old lives, but yours are really cool. So I guess it's a case by case basis. Not that I would actually delete any of the internet pics people posted cause I don't care THAT much. I would just like to not taint this thread as much as possible. And you evidently didn't taint. So I rescind my previous statement. No douchebaggery involved.

Absolutely! They have have narrated wagon rides i think. There are also a bunch of tents and greenhouses to explore. And a garden maze.

Plus the Flower Field parking lot is shared by a really nice outlet mall. That picture was taken right around this time last year, and the place was really in full bloom.

Here's a lizard that almost met his fate last year while I was backfilling some open trenches in Coachella.
I had noticed him as he ran across the top of my dozer blade.
I figured that if he was able to make it that far without getting killed, he deserved to at least see another day.
I made sure that he was well out of harms way.
Yeah....it kinda made me feel good knowing that I had not run him over....
