well, obviously if you're on the forum, you're probably a fan and such. i know the concerts were probably amazing but what would be your biggest complaint? be it the weather, people, expense, etc. come on, be honest. i haven't been but i think the heat would be an issue for me, and i'd definitely get a headache standing in the sun for that long. and on that note, do they care if you bring in advil and stuff like that?

The only thing that bothers me is the fact that 95% of the people tend to wear sunglasses that look like this...

The weather is pretty bad, but in '05, it was in the low 80s, which is incredible because it wasn't hot at all. Last year was hot, but 2004 was by far the hottest of the years I've been to. Probably expense. But it's all worth it in the end...

it gets cold at night right? but do you still stay warm when the crowd is all huddled together?

yeah, you won't feel the cold unless you're in your tent. if you're standing in the middle of the crowd, you'll be warm/hot.

Coachella is pretty darn perfect in my opinion, but if I had to complain, I'd say:
-the heat
-traffic
-inconsistency about allowing water bottles in the venue

Assuming that this year is like previous years, you can definitely bring in stuff like advil. If you want to bring your prescription meds, just be sure to bring it in the labeled bottle.

water is not allowed in, that is very consistant. if you get lucky and get it in, that is called "luck". luck is very inconsistant.

1. the heat and the BO that comes with it
2. the mile long bathroom lines

those are things that piss me off the most.

I was foolish and didn't take a shirt into the festival grounds on Sunday in 2005, thinking I'd just buy something at the merch booth. Well I never got around to it, for whatever reason. I was fine for NIN because of the crowding factor but after that was over and everyone left, it was aboslutely freezing, and windy too. And there was this stupid manager lady at the merch booth that wasn't even helping me. I wish I had her job, to just stand there and do nothing.

Last years biggest complaint...Why the hell were they trying to heard 50k people out of one bottleneck exit? That was rediculous. I felt like a heard of cattle off to the slaughter.

The heat is despised by the people I take. I've gone to both days in 2003-2006, and have actually taken different people all 8 days (I tend to be a concert enabler). I'm used to weather of all sorts and day-long festivals in deserts and what-not, but I had people pass out on me on Day 1 of 2003 and Day 2 of 2004, as well as a close call on Day 2 of 2006.

Be very careful with rookies in this kind of experience. Not concert rookies per se, but people who won't be prepared to be under the glaring sun in tight confinements with weather that can easily pass 100 degrees for several hours at a time.

the weather is consistantly miserable. the festival ends up being fun only if the bands you like play at night.

Fatties and/or out of shape grub apes despise the heat. I welcome it. It certainly beats the humidity here on the east coast. Heaven forbid one gets some exercise and has to drink water.

Mainstage (or Outdoor Stage) from 1 to 4:30 is pretty miserable, so try to find some kind of shade if you're watching a band there during that time period. You can hang out in the shade of the bleachers or sound equipment or whatever.

During Wolf Parade last year I was watching some of Matisyahu (regretfully) and making my way toward Bloc Party.

Oh God, yes! It was almost suffocating during Wolf Parade's set. Kept standing on my tippy toes to breathe in air.

People that only came because of Tool last year and showed little respect to others and the festival. And after reading the rage haters thread it appears my complaint next year will be disrespectful rage fans who dont care about others or the festival.

I bought one of those big umbrellas last year and it helped me so much. I like how they let you bring it in the next day too. That's very kind of them. It helps so much especially when you can't find shade.

the weather is great. I love the heat. my complaint is there isn't enough hours in the day to see all the great music.

my main complaint is that its getting more crowded every year. the first few years were perfect with lots of room to roam around in; now you gotta step over tons of drunk people around the main stage area. I also think the tent flaps should be open during the day to help reduce the smelly man-made sauna effect.

the only issue was the extreme heat.. but simple planning and staying hydrated solves that problem easlily. coachella is first class all the way, a wonderful festival experience :thu

You live in L.A.; by default, everything you do is worthless. Are we clear? I have Wolf Parade's album, Apologies to the Queen Mary and it makes my ears bleed. I suppose the vocalist has a penchant for attaching a vice to his balls prior to stepping into the studio. I am glad I passed their set.

my point was it was unbearably hot during their set (that and the bands you mentioned suck). so hot you didnt want to wait there but instead in the shade for sleater-kinney.

dont go, people. too much money for too much misery.

I am stunned no one else has replied to this. I agree 100%. I asked the workers I saw on the way out if there was another exit and was told no. It took forever to get out. There were other exits and they would not open them.

My only other complaint was the porta potties. At times an entire section was shut down and some of the ones that were open were in sad shape.

what bothered me was the men with small penises that peed all over the restrooms. The urinals at face level wasn't fun either....... Can we please get some women only restrooms for 07???

IMO, the heat has always been fairly tolerable (then again, my ex always used to call me a 'sunchild')... the only exception was last year when i was in the dance tent during paul oakenfold. oy. i SERIOUSLY thought i was about to pass out.

biggest complaint are the "set conflicts." there are ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS conflicts (unless you're like the newbies "only coming for rage and only rage!!" this year...) i'm pretty sure having to decide last year between tosca, she wants revenge AND daft punk made me cry (went with DF, OF COURSE).

What in the hell were they thinking with only one gate open for everyone to leave through on Sunday last year?
I remember being towards the front of the herded crowd (thank god I was near the front) thinking "Oh shit... This is not going to end well." Luckily, it sounds like no one got injured or freaked out and caused a riot.

I remember that moment well. It seemed like it took an hour to get from the main stage to our car. At one point, some dude scaled a fence then started bounding across the tops of that line of Porta-Potties like he was f'ing Spiderman, finally leaping over the edge and was never seen again. Everyone cheered...at least one got out alive.

Coachella is like a really long, awesome weekend followed by getting kicked square in the nuts.

Going back again this year, of course.

Oh gawd, by the end of the night the urinals were stuffed with toilet paper and yet they were still being used. And I just kept hoping the person next to me wasn't going to let their door slammed closed too hard and end up with piss in my lap.

I didn't really enjoy 2005 because I drove out from LA Sat morning, got there late (1pm), waited an hour to get in, didn't research the bands beforehand so can only remember sitting in the food court listening to Weezer suck (ha ha). However 2006 was awesome.

that lineup to get out would be my ONLY complaint...i suppose they do it to help the parking lot empty a little more orderly?

either way, it sucks since we just walk back to our accommodations...:thu

Last year was the first year I have missed, so I can't speak first hand.

But the problem with funnelling everyone into one smallish exit sounds like poor planning, and a recipe for disaster. If a couple of people would have been trampled, we wouldn't be talking about the 2007 lineup... there wouldn't be a festival (laywers, city officials, etc.)

I talked with some people who did not like the festival last year. But, the complainers were newbies who came because they were curious what all the Coachella hype was about, and some came to see Madonna in a tent. They complained about the crowds, about the heat, and about having to walk long distances to get between stages.

These conditions do exist, but they are outweighed by the good times experienced by those who love live music.

You either get Coachella, or you don't. There's no sense in trying to convert people.

The heat can definitely be tricky if you're not prepared for it. I'm hoping against hope that the weather will be cyclical. '04 and '06 were miserable beyond belief, but in '05 the temperature never topped 90 and on Sunday there was a nice breeze blowing all day. It was -- dare I say it? -- almost pleasant. Here's hoping 2007 follows the pattern.

What's worse is that many Tool fans (myself included) camped in front of the main stage all day Sunday. If you're going to be pathetic and do that (I regret having done so), at least recognize that you are going to listen to some bands that you don't like, sit/stand there, shut up, and be respectful of the artists and the concert goers. I remember last year a group of Tool fans harassing The Magic Numbers during their set. It was last year that made me realize why everyone hates Tool fans.
