Hi all, Im flying to my friends in LA for a week or so on April 24, and he has bought us tickets for the SUNDAY lineup./.....I notice Paul Van Dyke is playing ( :D )
I have a few questions if anybody would care to help me out, thanks!
1. Is it a mixture of trance, rock and dance all at once?
2. How big is the place? (im used to european concerts)
3. How hot is it night/day? (im used to Egypt, as holiday there 2 times per year, which is 42C day and 38C night! Water by day, vodka by night!)
4. Is beer cheap? can you buy 'pints' or just bottles?
5. Do they sell spirits such as whiskey or vodka?
Hope you can all help.
Ian (from sunny Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. Yes a Geordie invading california haha!)

They only sell expensive beer in special 'sections', so you can't drink a pint and watch a band! Can't even bring it onto the campsite (officially), crazy!

Fellow Geordie (but been in London for 20 years) going for my 3rd year so I will try and answer your questions:
1. Is it a mixture of trance, rock and dance all at once? - Yes is the easy answer but it is so much more.
2. How big is the place? (im used to european concerts) - Not as big as Glastonbury but it feels bigger than Reading/Leeds. There are 2 outdoor stages and three tents.
3. How hot is it night/day? (im used to Egypt, as holiday there 2 times per year, which is 42C day and 38C night! Water by day, vodka by night!) - Hot by day about 90/100 whereas at night it can get chilly/windy especially by Med night standards
4. Is beer cheap? can you buy 'pints' or just bottles? - Now this is where you are going to be pissed off. You have to prove you are over 21, take your passport, and join the queue to do that as soon as you get in. You get a wrist band which then means you can get in the beer tents but you can not take your drinks out from there. So no watching bands with a drink!! and the only beer/lager is Heiniken. Can not remember price but not too high.
5. Do they sell spirits such as whiskey or vodka? - Not sure as I stick to the beer as I'm usually driving.
Hope you enjoy what is a really cool festival.

Well, the Sahara tent wont be '"trance" all day/night, but will be electronic dance music of some sort. trance included.
