well im kicking back today thinking about how its only 3 weeks away and wanted to ask the question.... how u feeling? for me, well its coming up quick. alot of the fun is the waiting cuz there is so much analyzing of the lineup, downloading the groups and getting into some new bands "of montreal is the one im enjoying now" but its coming up quick and im so fucking excited and pumped. for me its a vacation im taking a week off from work and just enjoying myself id like to know ur story coming into tis festival. for me im 36, work full time married 10 yrs 2 kids who are into a ton of activities, hip hop dance classes, baseball ( i coach the team), girl scouts ( wife runs it), talent shows, gymnastics, basketball, football, etc. alot of daddy and mommy stuff and for us, this is a time i get to go back to my roots: going to concerts and just relaxing and smiling the whole time. people my age look at me like im crazy sometimes but ive always said ill never get old and in my heart, i still feel like that crazy guy in my 20's having so much fun. its still me, i just know how to pace myself and actually enjoy the experiences now. anyways just a friendly rant. would like to hear your story since we are close to the date. take care brothers and sisters! :)

My story is similar to yours. I'm married, 33, with 2 kids, and I don't get out to concerts anymore except for bands in my "top ten." I'm taking the week off as well, but more to prepare for coachella for the week before (have to get my dogs shots up to date before I board them and getting some doctor visits out of the way). I've been downloading and listening to lots of new music, and I can't wait until the end of April! It's my first year camping, and I hope that works out for us. We don't want to drive around after a long day of walking around and engaging in questionable activities.

I'm 21 and in college. This is the first year I get to go since my finals fall a few days before Coachella instead of during or after. I've been trying to get my friends to go with me to a giant music fest like this for a few years, but they are all talk and no action. So this year I took it upon myself to decide I would go no matter what.

I'm starting to feel prepared for the trip though, although its hard to focus on all my class work when I have the excitement of coachella and camping in the back of my mind. I'm excited about the whole concert experience and the drive.

I'm 25, this is my seventh time going, so it's just another year for me. feeling excited though. looking forward to seeing all my college friends who got out of this city before i could. this will be my last vacation of any kind until I move up to Seattle in August just in time for Bumbershoot, and on a related note, I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it next year, so I'm going to enjoy this Coachella as though it were my last.

I'm getting more and more butterfiles in my stomach each day. I honestly can still not believe Rage is going to be playing Sunday night.

Other than that, I'm just dying for a change of scenery. Can't wait to be on that camping ground, and in heaven for the next 4 days.

I'm 20, going to school, and doing a bit of web design on the side for money. This'll be my second year going and first time camping. I went last year for Tool and walked out blown away by the festival in general. I decided then that I'd be coming every year regardless of the lineup.

I am 18, go to University and this is my first Coachella.
I have wanted to go since 2005, but I was in high school and didnt have any money.
Before the Coachella line up was annouced this year, my girlfriend and I were planning a trip to Europe. Then I heard about the line-up at this years Coachella. I decided I would tell her in hopes we would change our Europe plans. And this was her exact words after I read her the bands, "We HAVE to go. We ARE going!" It was the happiest moment of my life.
I recently quit my part time job and my last shift is the day before I leave. When I get back I start at a full time job paying MUCH more than my part time job. The money I save up, is going into my Coachella 2008 fund.
I am expecting this to be the time of my life. I dont mean to get my hopes up too high, but after reading the boards here and looking at pictures, I dont see how it couldnt be.
I am coming with my girlfriend, a friend from high school, a friend from univserity and one of her friends I have only met once. We are also stoping at Disneyland on the way down. I leave in 19 days... I cannot wait.
I'll see everyone down there!

I'm 26, between jobs, and am dying to attend my fourth Coachella. I feel comfortable now with my knowledge and familiarity of the bands playing, but, I'm so not ready. I really need to get cracking on walking/jogging several times a day over the next few weeks to be in better shape for the physical agony that's coming. And I still need a ride to and from the festival. I don't want to have to resort to taking the Greyhound again, because the station is several miles from the festival and no cab is willing to take people there.

funny u say that. cuz ive done concert security before (did it for 2 yrs) for a 3 day fest im actually doing some workouts to get ready. it may sound crazy, but trust me 3 straight days in 100 heat is a drill so u need to be ready. ive dealt with all day festivals before and my ultimate badge of honor was ozzfest 02 where i dealt with 107 sacramento africa hot heat i the pit! lol. im ready baby!!

26, this will be my 5th one. Getting in the mindset a little more, I am going to start listening to the artists I want to see each day more and more and try and make a gameplan to survive 3 days. I have not been to a 3 day festival since 1999 so I need to see how I will be able to fare. At least I have a week off so I can recover. I also need to get mybody used to drinking a lot of water. Last year my body was thrown for a loop because of the water influx. And one thing is that Coachella shoudl switch to Coke and not Pepsi cause Coke > Pepsi. That reminds me, I need to get my hair cut.

24, this will be my 7th Coachella. I am terribly excited because this has become more of a spiritual thing for me. It is a time when I can forget about all the problems I have and of all the things I have to do. I am going with my Fiancee (It will be her 3rd) and she is excited too. We are meeting up with her sister and her sister's husband who are driving in from Phoenix. We are flying into Las Vegas to pick up my little brother and sister and drive down from there. It is also special because I moved to Denver back in October of last year and I haven't seen my family since then. This is the longest I have ever been away from my family so it is almost like a get together.

30, 5th time attending.
Taking Wed. thru Mon. off. Just now starting to save $, cause I'm lazy and irresponsible. I actually made a daily allowance for myself for the next 3 weeks to make sure I have everything in order. Condo funds? Check. Pre and post party booze and herb stock? Check. Food $? Check. Ride? Check.
I'm with the people^ about getting in shape. Starting my bike to work regiment tomorrow. The event has never phased me before, but 3 days of this? And the fact that I'm getting older, and Rage does not go on until the 3rd day means massive cardiovascular work is in order. Stupid cigarettes......
Only thing that gonna suck, is this is the first year w/o my girlfriend of 3 years. We fell in love to Air's set 3 yrs. ago, and she goes every year. Gonna be awkward! Shout out to all the single people!

25 year old 6th timer (missed '01 and '04).

Daddy has a 3bdr/3bath vacation house with a jacuzzi in La Quinta, and my brother and I bring friends every year to stay with us.

Last year was crowded with 19 people. One guy slept on the mantle of the fireplace. This year I accidentally invited too many. Final count: 26.

It would have been much less, because when tickets sold out, my friends hadn't gotten it together yet. When they went back on sale at the Glasshouse I picked up a bunch of 3 day passes and told friends they could pay me back by Coachella.

i just recently turned 29, i'm married and my wife is expecting our first...sadly in some realms deep down inside me, i'm secretly more excited for coachella to come this year... ;-)

my friends and i (4 of us solid, with some rotating newbies) have been to the last 3 coachella's and i don't think i've ever been closer to a group of people ever (minus the awesome wife)...coachella is truly a place to make deeper connections with those you love than i ever thought possible

the first year we came was an awesome year considering the 'newness' of it all, the second was fine but not nearly as good as the first, but then the third time arrived and WOW......not only was the lineup and weather insanely good last year but we became some of the luckiest coachella goers around...

the year prior, my dad had bought a retirement pad near palm springs which he mentioned as a place to stay for my yearly trip...as it turned out - he bought a place right next to the polo grounds!!! we're only about a 30-45 min walk, door-to-door, each night we get to walk home to a pool/hot tub, along with a fridge full of beers and food - it is simply amazing....that, combined with a few other bonus' make the end of april the most amazing time of the year for me

I'm 19 turning 20 a week after coachella. I went last year for my first time after one of my best friends went in 2004 and talked about how awesome it was. We awaited the lineup for 2005 and unfortunately weren't too impressed, but last year when daft punk was added, it was like falling in love for the first tie. It was a dream come true and we had lost minds just thinking about seeing them. It was a magical experience for us and we look forward to doing it again. This year's lineup initially excited me, but I became a little disappointed that no additions look like are going to be made. Even worse was that situation occured possibly preventing me from going due to hospitalization, but we postponed th surgery and im excited as hell to go.

ever since i made the decision to move up to washington from arizona a few months ago, it's been like an eternity. i would have moved months ago if it weren't for coachella. i hate my job, and where i live, but sticking it out for coachella will make the wait worth it. in just three weeks i will begin living what will possibly be the best two weeks of my life. i'll have my last day of my boring job on the 25th, coachella camping and festival for four days, five days of doing whatever i can think to do in this town, then, a four day roadtrip to washington with one of my best friends. we're making stops in las vegas, reno, and san francisco on the way to seattle. best two weeks of my life.

I'm 26, married, full time career girl. I've wanted to go to Coachella ever since Pixies reunited, but my first one wasn't until last year...I got stoked by all the Smashing Pumpkin rumors floating around and convinced 2 friends to buy pre-lineup tix with me. (Pumpkins are to me what Rage is to most people on this board.) Well obviously the Pumpkins never materialized, but holy crap we had the time of our lives. I knew I was going this year before the lineup even came out, and I'm hoping to make it a yearly thing. I work for Hilton hotels, which rocks cause I got a killer discount on our hotel room, yet sucks cause traveling businessmen can be such assholes sometimes. Anytime a guest yells at me all I do is picture myself in the middle of a grassy field, the sun on my face, friends at my side, and kick ass tunes coming from multiple stages. I'm so stoked!

I think this is my favorite thread so far. It's nice hearing other people's stories and situations.:)

I'm 33, although I'll be 34 the day after Coachella. I'm a grad student and teacher in Santa Barbara. In past years I've lived close enough to commute, and this is actually the first time I'll have to pay to get in. One of my friends is a Palm Springs motorcycle cop and he always ferried me in through a side entrance, but the increased popularity this year led to a tightening up of the "guests." So even though I feel a little old for it, I'm looking forward to the camping and the lines and the heat. I'm supposed to teach the next day, which will probably be an unqualified disaster, but there's no way I'd miss my first Coachella.

Phoenix chick, 22, working for The Man. I've been going with the same group of people for the last two years - 2007 will be my third. I finally feel like a Coachella vet! Like a lot of you, I can't imagine a year without this festival and will continue to lock down my presale before the lineup is even announced. I can never afford it but ever since attending in 05, I knew Coachella would become a priority. I figure I'll worry about responsibilities when I'm married with 2.5 spawns of terror and a white picket fence. Me and nine of my favorite people will be staying in a condo at the PGA West. I'd love to meet local PHX heads who are making the road trip. Cheers, friends!

P.S. I love it that so many people I know don't know or understand the beauty of Coachella. I kinda prefer it that way... :)

Dude, we're both young and both from SD, we should pal around and shit.

I'm 18, from San Diego, currently a Senior in High School (CAVERS! [SDHS]), and am graduating at the end of the year with an International Baccalaureate Diploma and hopefully enough funding to go to a UC (it's looking like I'm not going to be able to afford it... =/). I'm a musician myself (need a bassist? look me up) and am practically obsessed with music both new and old. I've been working a part-time job at Vons since September with no clue as to what I'd put my money towards... Let's just say I've pocketed a nice niche for concerts over the summer =D. It will be my first Coachella since my folks wouldn't lemme go see Tool last year (and Daft Punk... grrr) and since I paid for my tickets and what not myself, they're cool with me going. I need to download bittorrent and SoulSeek on this laptop so I can expand my library to include a few Coachella artist I've not delved into yet (!!!, Hot Chip, Tokyo Police Club, Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, etc.) but yeah, I'm thrilled to be going. I won't be hard to miss in the crowd, since, if you havden't seen my pic, I'm a white dude with a fro. Yeah.

In short, I rock.

I'm 20, recently engaged to my best friend, a full time student and work full time and then some, and Coachella is my one big blow out that I look forward to every year. My fiancee and I save up and get tix the day the go on sale because you never know, someday they might sell out, (snap!) and carpool down with our friend from Bakersfield. It's crazy trying to get the time off of school and two jobs, and next year we will both be at Universities that will be having finals, even poorer, and an extra 150 miles or so farther away from the venue, but fuck it, we will be there regardless. I would miss my own wedding to go to Coachella, (but not to see someone elses wedding).

I'm really looking forward to it. I hope to meet some people from this board while I'm in town.

I've been saving my pennies so I can blow a ton of money at the festival. The countdown started when I bought my tickets back in the end of January so I'm so fucking stoked right now. I'm 27 and this is my 6th straight Coachella. The last two years I went with my best friend, a lesbian I was in love with, and I even paid for her tickets because I wanted so desperately to have that experience with her. (We'd bonded over Coachella when we first met; if she hadn't seen Crystal Method in the Sahara tent, I might not have been able to find something to talk to her about and the last few years of my life would have been significantly less fulfilling.) We haven't spoken in about a year (since three weeks after Daft Punk's life-changing set) but over the course of making my second film, I developed a lot more confidence in myself and was determined to attend this year's festival even if it meant that I didn't have friends to enjoy it with and had to endure all the costs on my own. (I financed my movie largely by myself, so the prospect of spending $1,000 on Coachella was rather daunting.) Fortunately, the friend of mine I've known would appreciate Coachella more than perhaps anyone else I know can finally afford to attend so I'll have some company on the road trip.
Especially more recently, over these past few weeks, I think about Coachella when I start to get stressed out with bullshit I've got to deal with at work and I'm put at ease. The hours of tedium and putting on a facade of friendliness with people who treat you like shit is made worthwhile when you're under the California sun, grass between your toes, lovely ladies to admire for 360 degrees, and amazing music to discover and be moved by. The smell of hand sanitizer reminds me of 2004 and whenever I drive past an In-N-Out Burger, I recall the numerous conversations over their burgers and fries about who we were looking forward to see the following day or whose performances had blown us away the night before. Though getting to this year's festival will have required some twists and turns that I could have probably done without, the fact that it looms so near on the horizon casts those hurdles in an almost positive light. Conflict is the source of drama and without obstacles to overcome, the victory of arriving in the Empire Polo Fields wouldn't be quite so sweet.

25, I bought 6 tickets for me and my friends, but one bailed, and another friend bought one of the tickets and is flying from Texas just to see Rage and riding back with us. We are taking two cars from Fort Worth Texas and going camping. I am taking 6 days off of work designing aircraft fluid lines for this roadtrip. We are leaving tuesday evening, going to the grand canyon for the day wednesday sunup to sun down, and going to either LA or San Diego the day after Coachella. I hope to get back for my physics review Wednesday night, but i really dont give a shit if I miss it. This should be about 3000 miles on my odometer, and it is sneaking up quick. I am just starting to get prepared. Thank God for credit cards with insanely high limits. I dont even care right now. This willbe my first Coachella, and i am going to Bonnaroo for the first time shortly therafter.

31 coming from Phoenix, I work in a call center. IT's boring as shit. I am engaged we have a house take care of a couple of kids a few dogs and a fish. This will be my 3rd year. Second camping onsite. This is my first time camping solo, last year my fiance came with this year we coudn't afford it so i'm going and she isnt because she isn't crazy about the lineup. I look forward to this all year long. Would love to meet some people and hang out. I"m a lot more likeable in person or at least that's what I hear from other people who I know from other message boards.

I'm 21 and I am flying thousands of miles to LA from Perth, Australia. I am in my final period of university study and am missing 3 weeks of classes to come to Coachella. This will be my first time... The cost of attending the festival will be about USD4000-5000. But earlier this year when I saw that Rage and Crowded House would be reforming to play at the festival, I couldn't resist.

Can I just say, I am sick to death of hearing people winge about having to drive 150miles (boo hoo) to get to Coachella! It's just a little roadtrip people, it won't kill you! Anyway it's good to know where everyone is coming from, i'm looking forward to comparing how American festivals compare to Australian festivals. Our festivals are always huge but the lineup is sometimes a bit lacklustre due to our geographic isolation way down here!

Anyway not long now, peace.

20 yr old College student, hailing from the where abouts of West L.A.

This will be my 2nd Coachella. A few days before I went last year, I broke up with my girlfriend of 2 years. Sold her ticket for face, and ended up camping alone, while meeting up with other people who were going for single days that weekend.

I had an unbelieveable experience! Met some of the most amazing people, and had the most amazing time... I need not mention the epic that was DP, but for me it was really amazing after being a fan of theirs for so long (can't wait for the cali/lolla shows ^_^)

My car ended up breaking down on my way back to LA after Coachella was over, which is a long fucking story lol.... but needless to say I had one crazy ass trip.

I don't know about you guys, and I don't know if I will have the same feeling again but, I felt rejuvenated when I came back from the festival. I will definetely say if you are going to break up with your significant other, do it before coachella! You will come back with a refreshed state of mind and a positive new outlook, plus you'll be single while your there :P

23 year old network administrator from northern illinois. this will be my third straight coachella. flying into phoenix on wednesday night, renting a car, then driving out thursday to camp.

my girlfriend and i are going together, but our relationship has been really rocky lately. i'm worried that something bad will happen during the trip and ruin my time. on top of that, she's not as into the bands as i am.

honestly, i'd rather go by myself.

27/m/Oklahoma. This will be my first Coachella and I don't know why. It never occurred to me that I should go, I just never thought about it. When I heard about last year's lineup, it was too late. I spent all my vacation time flying for Sigur Ros. I spent all my vacation time flying for Massive, driving for Depeche Mode, binging for TVOR.

I'm a concert whore.

I work in a call center doing call center things. I also wear a Depeche Mode button on my badge. When I was a trainer, one of my agents asked about it and I went into my concert spiel. And so he asks, "Wanna go to Coachella?" And it made sense.

I'm 25, and honestly had never even heard of Coachella before (I'm not really into dance or indie music because I haven't had much exposure to it). I'm a full time engineer and part time graduate student. Unmarried, no kids, and was super excited to be attending the Rage reunion which is really the only reason I wanted to come, until I got on the board, checked out the lineups and listened to some of the other artists that I will be checking out. But like I said, I was super excited...until I broke my ankle on Tuesday and learned that I'll be on crutches for the next 2 months. I am a Coachella rookie, but it seems as though it is a lot of walking around on grass, which is next to impossible on crutches. Does anyone with any similar experiences have any suggestions?

age 31. favorite color blue. This will be my 2nd Coachella. Went in 2001 just to see Kruder and Dorfmeister.. ended up loving every single minute of that day.. This year I decided to meet up with 3 other people from SLC (complete strangers) and so we are driving down together and camping on the polo grounds..
I didnt make up my mind to go to this year, until tickets became sold out.. Bought one off of eBay last week and im still waiting for the seller to ship it to me.. starting to get nervous without tickets in hand, but at this point i've decided to go, come hell or highwater....I'm excited and cannot wait to kick it on lush polo grounds and listen to some amazing music..

I'm 19. Two friends and I bought presale tickets as we were watching so intently to see who would play. I'm the only one who drives of the three and we all live in portland Oregon. We decided we'd switch off driving even though I'm the only one with a license. About a week ago one of my friends fractured his hip in a bike accident and is advised not to walk for 6 weeks. So now it is me and my friend Bee, and we have been best friends for years. It's really sad our other friend can't make it (he and I went in 03 together), but its sort of a blessing in disguise, because bee and I have so much fun together, and we love all the same stuff. I'm all around excited. I keep having dreams about the schedule being posted. I wake up and check... but to no avail.

ever since i made the decision to move up to washington from arizona a few months ago, it's been like an eternity. i would have moved months ago if it weren't for coachella. i hate my job, and where i live, but sticking it out for coachella will make the wait worth it. in just three weeks i will begin living what will possibly be the best two weeks of my life. i'll have my last day of my boring job on the 25th, coachella camping and festival for four days, five days of doing whatever i can think to do in this town, then, a four day roadtrip to washington with one of my best friends. we're making stops in las vegas, reno, and san francisco on the way to seattle. best two weeks of my life.

That's awesome...enjoy the moment.

This is my seventh Coachella. My friends and I see this weekend as an annual tradition (as I'm sure many of you do as well) and every year we go through the same things: anticipate the lineup, lurk the message boards, explore new music. I love this festival, its the only time of the year where I can just let go of everything and escape. This year seems like it will be exceptionally good, so as we get closer my excitement grows. The only downside about having such a great weekend like this is the after Coachella depression I always get. Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else get this? Anyway, I can't wait. Have a good one guys.

18 [senior in HS] coming out of the san gabriel valley.
got my first taste of coachella in '04 as a freshman and it easily became an addiction. I was really disappointed to have missed the past two years even though the lineups made the cost and trip worthwhile. So i made the decision to find a way to the valley this year no matter what and thanks to the music player ive discovered a few bands that i have to check out. This year will definately be jam packed, i just hope i dont have any major conflicts. By the way totally feeling the sense of community on the boards. Hope to somehow meet new people on the fields and have more reasons to come back next year.

This is a cool thread. It's interesting to see all the different kind of people who are attracted to a festival like this.

As for me, I'm 25, single, working girl by day, gigwhore by night. This will be my second Coachella, I went to the Saturday in 05' and it was one of the most amazing days ever as well as the most exhausting. I'm being brave and going to all three days this year, not sure if I'll still be standing after Sunday, but there is just too much good music happening. I'll be haning out with a friend of mine who is coming down from Santa Cruz for the fest, as well as my best friend but she'll only be there for Saturday. I'll also be meeting up with a bunch of friends I've met at other gigs throughout the weekend, but also looking forward to meeting new people. I definitely feel more prepared for this time around than I did in 05', have done way more research on the bands other than my main reasons for going, am really gonna try to see as much music as I can cram into each day. Can't wait to see what surprises are in store.

2 of my buddies just won tickets on ebay yesterday so i am STOKED that i don't have to go and camp by myself anymore!

I think I have a pretty good idea of what bands to see and what bands I can miss without kicking myself in the ass later. I feel I am pretty prepared.

i know for me the depression comes in around september when concert season is over. for me coachella 07 represents the start of concert season!! usually we hit 2-3 festivals a year plus other shows. already im going to coachella, bfd ( major radio festival in nor cal), ozzfest, family values, rock the bells, warped( first festival me and my 10 yr old son are going to together :) ) plus sprinkle in a couple other shows so i love this time of the year. :)

this thread im glad i started. really cool to hear everyone's story. its gonna be a blast yall! :)- keep them coming...

I’m 20 year old college student going with my now x-girl friend thank god it was a good break and were still best friends. LOL But My first was in '05 when my friend told me about the fest. I had know idea what to expect and hardly knew any of the bands but was blown away! We only went the first day witch now I’m very much regretting missing arcade fire, pinback, nin, bright eyes and so on... Then in 06 we planned on going both days after realizing our mistake. It’s been a blast every time. I keep telling my X that its just something you cant describe until you experienced it! I go back and watch the trailer to the Coachella dvd and gives me chills every time. This year is my first time camping in the Coachella campgrounds and look forward to that. Also 3 day is going to be intense! I research hardcore this year downloading and ended up buy a lot of cds from the artists that are playing. I love discovering new artist every year. It funny cuz every year around mid January I’m glued to the Coachella web site just waiting for the lineup to come out, I cant wait for this year so many good bands!! It’s going to be epic!

I'm 26, going to turn 27 the week after I come back. Single, female, beautiful, fantastic taste in music, not at all modest. ;) Coming from Sacramento, CA. This will be my third Coachella (third in a row as well) and I've camped on-site every year. This year, I didn't get tickets in time, but received a minor windfall in March and was biding my time. Bought my tickets/camping pass last week, received them on Monday, did a Bez-inspired dance of joy. There's been a lot of jumping up and down and bragging in the past week and a half.

I know a lot people like to bitch about Coachella selling out and all that but I don't care, I'm dead excited. This is the event I look forward to all year. I'm looking forward to reuniting with friends I've met in the past and making new ones. I just endured a downright awful March, with the exception of the final week, so I'm needing my Coachella high more than ever.

Just hit the big 50 back in Feb this year, so this whole trip is a late birthday present from my wife. Coming over from the UK on my own for my 3rd Coachella, did 04 and 05 missed 06.

Must admit really starting to get excited now as I fly out on the 20th to Phoenix, quick stop off at Grand Canyon, then 5 nights in Vegas before heading to hotel in Palm Springs on the Thursday. Even more pleased that the musical content of the trip has been extended following a heads up from this message board about Prince continuing his Vegas dates at the Rio into April, as I've got a ticket for the Sat before Coachella.

I just think this festival has a really cool vibe and whilst I could take or leave the main stage headliners this year, I feel the rest of the bill is the strongest its ever been and the great thing is we don't know who's gonna produce that killer set on the day, which will be remembered for a long time such as The Arcade Fire, Air, Basement Jaxx and Wilco have done in the past.

Hey, all in all, just looking forward to a good time and some great memories to take back home.

Im 31 in San Diego. My first Coachella was 2001 and I have been to at least one day of the fest after that. I usually go solo, and this year is no different. I was in the mortgage industry, but got let go. The money was great but it truly sucked ass. So now I'm unemployed and taking the time to find a career in the field that I was educated for. That means: plenty of time for coachella! Im going to have to do it as cheap as possilbe this year, but I am fugging there!

I'm 34. It's gonna be my second visit to Coachella (hence the username). I'm from Scotland (hence the Willie avatar) but am flying in from my home in Sydney, Australia, where I have been living for five years.

The countdown to Coachella is going to fly by for me. Going to another festival in Sydney today called The Great Escape (www.thegreatescape.net.au) which should be a nice wee warm up for Coachella.

Back to work on Tuesday, then I fly to LA on Friday. I'm a magazine editor and my company flies me over to Vegas every year for the NAB broadcasting conference. Good job it's on around Coachella time. Going out in LA next Friday night then catching a flight to Vegas on Saturday morning.

I leave Vegas the following Friday to go to San Francisco for a few days. Meeting some other Coachella message board people there and going to a few gigs, then road tripping it down to the festival. Hope to arrive on Thursday afternoon, then off to the local Beerhunter pub once the tents are up to get in the mood for what is sure to be an epic weekend. Can't wait.

I'm 25, and flying into town from Atlanta with my girlfriend. It will be my first time at Coachella, her second. I am extremely excited. I have been to Bonarroo a few times, but this sounds much more laid back and non-drama-ish. After the fest, heading to LA for a couple days to lay on the beach and rest. I am looking forward to hanging out in the desert with cool people (most of you), cold beer, and good bud (if I can find any there). Have a safe trip everyone!

I'm 23, will be 24 by the time coach comes around, I've made Coachella my summer kickoff vacation since 2002. I'm taking a five-day weekend to enjoy the california desert. I make the trek from Phoenix with my sisters and our friends. We usually rent a condo/house for the weekend and just enjoy the incredible line-up of artists, chill out at night with a couple of beers and a hot tub. Our main priority is the music. We usually find ourselves splitting up and taking in our own experience. I always enjoy Coachella and can't wait for this year's festivities.

27 years old. 4th Coachella. 8,000,000th time being awesome. Have gone with a crew that has fluxuated in numbers from 12 - 41 (LAST YEAR... ALL AT DAFT PUNK) ... raged so hard at Daft Punk last year that four of us flew to Belgium a few months later to see them again at Pukkelpop, where we also got our skulls crushed in by RADIOHEAD, JUSTICE, MSTRKRFT, TIGA, and MYLO, along with $2 beers and $3 pills and Daft Punk and The Raconteurs were staying in our hotel and raging. EVERY American (there were about 10) that we met at Pukkelpop went there because they had seen Daft Punk at Coachella and HAD to see them again. This year there is a paltry 17 of us coming (not including Dave Wang). But that's ok because They Only Want You When You're 17, When You're 41, You're No Fun. Also, I once yelled my own name out during sex. How's that story?

Coming from Milwaukee with my wife and The Lad, who's 19. She's staying in the hotel for 3 days reading trashy novels by the pool and drinking things with umbrellas in them, we are taking in all that Coachella has to offer.
First time at Coachella, hell, first time in Cali - originally from Scotland, so I've done most of the Euro festivals of note.
It's 30 degrees outside here today, so I can't wait for the hot sun, cool vibes, Hot Chip, JAMC, Crowded House and Faithless.

I didn't think april would come so quickly. I can't believe coachella is only three weeks away. how exciting!!!

Turning 32 next week. I just got paroled a couple months ago after being locked up for 7 years. Society is awesome. I hear this festival is awesome, too. Can't wait to violate my probation!

Does anyone know where I can get find TINA and/or a small handgun?

This internet is so cool. :D

i'm so excited!!! this is my fourth coachella, but my first with the love of my life. we met because of the festival and now we'll get to share it together. it's not just the fact that i'll have someone with me who gets the obsession, it's a family event for me. my parents come with us to palm springs to relax, my brother and his family who go to coachella with me, as well as my sister who lives very far away and rarely get to see. we spend the weekend, splitting up when we go to the festival, and taking advantage of being together those precious few days.

it's what i look forward to every year and i'm SOOOOO happy it's coming soon!

I'm 21. Heard about the rage reunion instantly got one of my buddies to say he would go. Got tickets without even knowing any of the other bands accept arcade fire (favorite band) and peppers (don't care).

First day tickets went on sale we both got 3 day pass with camping and plane tickets. Coming from Boston area.

I then immediately started listening to all these artists and have to say its the best thing that has happened to me musically. I love every band going minus a handful.

I have been preparing ever since I got tickets getting together a master check list. Finally starting to get everything together now.

Can't wait to say the least

I'm 23 and i like long walks on the beach and flowers in my hair! j/k. This will be coachella number 4. I attended my first coachella in 2004 in see 2 of my fav bands (The Cure and Radiohead). And then kicked myself in the ass for not attending any of the previous years! This years the group rotation has changed and i will be attending with my 2 cousins (this will be year 2 for them). I took them both to their first coachella in 2006 and they fell in love with everything about it, just like i did only a few years before. I'm a coachella veteran but i always get as excited as a little kid going to disneyland! Either way i'm just excited to be there again. Meeting new people from around the world, experiencing new musik, the sights, the atmosphere. What's not to love???

See you all in the desert!

I'm 20, go to college for English and telecommunications at Ball State University in Middletown, IN and this is my first Coachella. I'm flying out Thursday at 2pm, have a big layover in Dallas/Ft. Worth, and I get into PSP at 7pm. This is also the biggest concert I've ever been to and the first time camping at a concert, so I'm a little concerned that I won't be doing it right. BUT it's okay, I'll just make friends and figure it out as I go! My friends and I tried to start up a dance rock band called Together You and I Could Become the Heart-Break Kid Shawn Michaels but we couldn't work out a practice schedule since we all take 18 credit hours and all have jobs. Also nobody wanted to play guitar, and everybody wanted to play synthesizer, and that meant that I couldn't just sing but I would have to play guitar, and I can't play guitar. I work at a record store/video store and nobody wants to buy the Soul Coughing records that I put on a special rack for people to buy. BUT Y'KNOW WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO

i think the good part about all of this is where we all come from, cali, texas, new york, ohio, canada, europe, tokyo, australia!! when u can bring people from all over the world to one spot, it makes it that much more special...its been great reading all of your stories and the one thing we al have in common is our love of music and the vibe that a concert experience can give u. there is nothing like it!! :)

I'm 44 (nearly 45) and this will be my third time - 05, 06 and now 07. Got divorced a few years ago and saw that New Order were playing in 05 and thought what the heck why not. Live in London so decided to explore a bit of the west coast at the same time. Always come on my own but find it easy to meet new people if I can be bothered. Stay in hotels as the thought of waking up in a tent at 7am with the sun burning down does not appeal. I like my comforts, air con and a nice big bed - I have a bad back. Wasn't going to make it this year as I was having to look after my father who was ill. Unfortunately he died in Feb so I changed my mind only to find all 3 day tickets had sold out. Managed to get tickets off ebay, paying way over the odds. Been going to concerts for nearly 30 years but getting too old to be down the front. Not like in 1977 pogoing down the front to the damned, buzzcocks, pistols.

Not really bothered about main stage headliners RATM, RHCP but there are loads of bands I do want to see Arcade Fire, The Good The Bad, Arctics, Gotan Project, JAMC etc. Also going to see JAMC on the Thursday at the Glasshouse - hope we get more than the 10 minutes and the riots like we used to get back in 1985. Anyway really looking forward to it all - not long to wait now.

I'm 32, happily single, no kids. This will be my 3rd consecutive Coachella. I live in San Francisco and am flying to Palm Springs. From there I will immediately pick up the rental car and drive all the way to Pomona to see the JAMC at the Glasshouse, then drive back to Palm Springs to meet a couple of friends at our hotel. There are tons of bands I'm looking forward to seeing, but definitely can't wait to see the Mary Chain for the 7th and 8th times most of all. I think this will be my favorite Coachella yet.

Wow, you kidz are gr8!!!

36, single mom, 2 great boyz...totally pumped for my 4th consecutive coachella but unfortunately this year while I'm at coachella my oldest boy will be shredding in a CASLUSF Skate contest...shred baby shred...this will be the first contest I've missed him skating in so I'm a bit bumbed but not to worry the music will totally lift me to higher ground!!!

My friend Christine & I go every year a few years her husband has come and last year I invited some other friends. My favorite part of coachella besides all the ear candy is meeting the great walks of life from god knows where...they always seem to enjoy the quick 420 session...

I'm pretty much poor and thankful that income tax return comes just before tix go on sale...my refunds have funded the last three coachellas and will probably continue to do so until the birds leave the nest

I love coachella!!!

I'm 30 and from San Francisco. This'll be my first year at Coachella, though I've wanted to go each year (and frankly just didn't put enough effort into saving the $$ and getting tickets/rides together). I'm really excited about the trip this year though, to the point where I can't get a lot done at work, I just keep hitting refresh on this board to see if something more has been posted.

If this board is any indication of the Coachella crowds, it's going to be a great weekend. Lots of interesting people from far abouts with good taste in music. :) It's also been a great kick in the pants to check out some of the newer bands that I wasn't familiar with.

"I am 53 and have been to every Coachella,I go with my kids(5 of them) ages 14 to 32! This is the first year for the 14 year old so that is an added excitement to see how he digs it (if he can stand the heat) I love it and we make a mini vacation out of Coachella every year, stay in a really nice hotel and come down from LA a day early and stay a day later to recuperate. I think those of you who workout to get in shape for this event are smart--I walk miles in the hills all year and I credit that for my stamina at the Festival. We are all really excited! I always come home feeling younger than when I left."

jezuz.. how can lucky can some kids be?? the only shit my parents took me to when I was 14, were the beach boys and crystal gale..
i remember the perma grin i had after I got back from coachella also.. it does give you that good vibe for a few weeks, and then the post partum sets in..

I want to be as cool of a parent as you someday!

So I am 21 from San Francisco.

I heard about the lineup and I love AM and KOL so I knew I had to go. I wanted to go the past few years but this years lineup blew me away that I knew I HAD to go. My parents buy me things. I am not rich or anything but I don't work to focus on school. My parents like it this way. Anyways, I was waiting on my moms tax return money and 3 day passes sold out. I basically gave up.

Then about 2 weeks ago my friend WON 3 DAY PASSES off the local station. She is in the same situation as me right now and told me that she was going to sell the ticket to me. I didn't have a problem with this because she is only asking $200 and thats more than fair. Afterall, she could give it to someone else or something. She and I are both huge Arctic Monkeys and Kings Of Leon fans. We met on the KOL message boards and went to a bunch of their shows together so we know we are going to have fun.

So now I am def going again.

Luckily, my sister works for Marriott so I get a cheap-ish hotel in the area and my other 2 friends are driving. One of which has a company car so we DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR GAS!

Later this week, my college campus is having a conference and classes are cancelled. So I am going to work in the cafeteria to get money to go so I don't have to ask my parents for it. I have to get up at 6:00 ever morning to get ready but it will be so worth it because I have to keep telling myself that the money if for my Coachella trip.

I am also going to see the Klaxons the night before and I have finals the MOnday afterwards. I am hoping to get all my final essays done this weekend and next week in order to have a worry free Coachella.

I'm 20 years old. Me and two of my girlfriends have plane tickets out to CA from Washington DC, but just found out yesterday that the person supposedly getting our tickets, well, didnt. I'm upset, but willing to deal. I absolutely love the Chilis and can't be in the same state/general vicinity and not see them. I was so excited to see RATM (and most of the other bands- aka- silversun pickups, amy whinehouse, arctic monkeys, the roots, etc...) as well. I'm hoping that we'll be able to buy some one-day passes or something.
Oh, and to add insult to injury, this will be my last concert (provided that I end up going) for a long while. I'm studying abroad in Beijing, China of all places June through January. I'm finding it hard to seperate from my love of music, so I'm trying to pack this kind of stuff in while I can!
PS- Guys suck! Thanks for screwing me over with the Coachella tickets, J.O.!!!

I play guitar in a band called As it runs dry and drums in a band called Terror Taxi. I dabble in art and I'm a very good writer although I cant spell very well. I drive a 2006 Lincoln Navigator and a Burton snowbord.

Good luck getting into UCLA Med School man. Thats where I am hoping to get into as well.

20, single, and studying Business w/ Finance at uni.
The journey begins by flying out on the 26th from Glasgow, into Gatwick, onto Fort Worth before arriving at Vegas. From there I'm on the greyhound to Indio, finally arriving at 10am. So UK time that's about 32 hours I'm travelling just to get there, with my mind for company.
I only bought Saturday & Sunday tickets+camping because that's all I could afford, and I'll probably pass out when I finally get my tent set up on the Friday.

I only heard about this fest because somebody posted it on another messageboard, but the fact Rage are playing is the overriding factor in any arguement(There are other awesome bands playing that I can't wait to see, but chances are they'll appear in the UK at some point). Parents are cutting me off for this, and to be honest, I don't blame them. But how many people will I meet at home who can say that they've seen what I've seen?

Now as long as they don't announce a world tour...

38 years old. Bellflower, CA. This is yet another Coachella for myself and my wife (33 yrs old). We do the Coachella gig ever year . We've been doing festivals since Lollapalooza 2 back in the early 90's. Both of us are still into music, still into UK bands and still looking forward to Coachella with anticipation. This year though, goldenvoice really outdid themselves. THIS was our dream, lineup what with the JAMC (my favourite band of all time), Interpol (my wife's fave), Happy Mondays, Jarvis (f**ing) Cocker! who we've waited ages to see live, Arcade Fire who we missed 2 years ago on account of me thinking Gang of Four would be better :( ,

Every year it's hot as a mutherf**cker, it's expensive as hell, reservations get harder and harder to come by and it leaves us drained for days afterwards. and every year we can't wait to do it again!!!

I am 26 years and and live in a suburb outside of Kansas City. My parents have a place in La Quinta that is just 5 min from the polo fields, so I am fortunate enough to have that place to stay. My two passions in life are music and figure skating. I coach figure skating and I am the skate school director at our rink. I go to concerts every possible chance that I get. I have very few friends that are as passionate about music as I am, so I love being able to talk to all of you about new bands, shows, etc. My favorite bands are The Format and The Arcade Fire, among many others.

This will be my third coachella and truly, nothing compares to it for me. Every year I have the most amazing weekend of my life and then go home in a near depression. One quote that I try live by (and must force myself to do so after Coachella) is: Don't cry because it's over; Smile because it happened.
