Poor old Justice are having a hard week. Last Thursday the duo admitted in an interview that their album [†] contained at least 400 uncleared samples, and now comes this photo which shows the pair faking it during a live set.

The MIDI controller on the left ain’t plugged in, but the tall fuzzy-haired one is pretending that it is - he’s got an intense concentrated look on his face whilst moving the faders and knobs. Busted!

The thing is - this may not be the best place to discuss this topic - live electronic music is a hard thing to do.

Anyone with a shred of understanding of how the music is made knows that it’s near impossible to play electronic music 100% live, unless you have the talent of somebody like The Bays, who can play improvised dance music using only instruments.

Daft Punk might just be the best live dance act of the last few years, but their set is pre-programmed down to every last beat.

When you’ve got a superbly powerful light show and a giant pyramid light thingy in sync with the music, there’s no way the show could be pulled off without pre-programming it.

So what are dance bands like Justice supposed to do? At least make an effort, and control some of the filters and FX to give the impression of a live performance.

Or remember to plug the damn MIDI controllers in and smile.

Alright, Im done watching, the staged arrest that happend at the mayan got put in. LUCKILY, they showed the end of that show with them crowdsurfing and my ass gets in there for like 2 seconds. Overall, so Me didnt really know how to put this together. If this was done like how Part Of The Weekend Never dies, it wouldve been great. But, in the ends, its just a lot of cut oup footage of them just being on the bus, meeting girls, and partying, with the whole underlying gun sub plot(youll see when youw atch) and yes theres a lot of underage girls it looks like in some sections when they are partying, but whatever. The live cd slays, and thats that. Buy it if you want, but its a matter of you liking them enough to get it though. Again, couldve been done a lot better, but whatever.

Between the bjork forums and a recent interview (i think with pitchfork).

Bjork said something along the lines that her record label wants to put out a DVD of her tour. They filmed her Paris show (which has an extended setlist, compared to the usual amount she did for the rest of the tour).
And they filmed the last small gig at a church in Iceland which was a stripped down version of the show.
NO clue when it will come out. Hopefully in early 09.
I'd love to have an official DVD of that tour.

Alright, Im done watching, the staged arrest that happend at the mayan got put in. LUCKILY, they showed the end of that show with them crowdsurfing and my ass gets in there for like 2 seconds. Overall, so Me didnt really know how to put this together. If this was done like how Part Of The Weekend Never dies, it wouldve been great. But, in the ends, its just a lot of cut oup footage of them just being on the bus, meeting girls, and partying, with the whole underlying gun sub plot(youll see when youw atch) and yes theres a lot of underage girls it looks like in some sections when they are partying, but whatever. The live cd slays, and thats that. Buy it if you want, but its a matter of you liking them enough to get it though. Again, couldve been done a lot better, but whatever.

I have seen Justice a few times and enjoy the album.

The film was pretty boring....the premier event was kinda lame too. Afterwards they had some DJs I had never heard of. They all seemed to play Justice at one point.

I have never been, I just moved here in August. I am looking forward to a fest at the red rocks more than anything. I went to a Triad Dragon's rave for Halloween, Afterlife. It was really fun! I don't think we'll be going to Masquerave, raves must be attended few and far between, haha. The thing is I'm from Orlando and there is no techno scene PERIOD so I don't mind the Asians. I won't go to a rave unless its 18 and up because I don't want to see 13 year old boys making out. But I would make an exception for Global if it is underage, because of where its held. It's so breathtaking there, I do look forward to seeing a real band there though.
