There were a ton of great shows this year, such as the Arcade Fire's dazzling and impressive performace, but, hands down, the most fun to be had was at the Teddybears!
The tent wasn't totally packed, but the guys were pumped and had everyone jumping and dancing harder than I'd seen at any other venue, including LCD soundsystem.
Just like after the Go! Team last year, I left Coachella pumped up and grateful. The band was equally appreciative as they repeated pulled out their cameras to take pictures of the crowd.
I know it's not the most intellectual music, but it was "funner than hell".

Quick question? I think the girl - amazing performance and downright hottie - is the singer of the Start, yes/no? Who was the other guy? I don't think it was Elephant man.

Yeah I knew nothing about Teddybears and we stopped by the tent and watched from just outside of it. It was our favorite unexpected, unplanned band experience. They had a projector screen behind them that showed clips of sort of classic movies (Godfather, Easy Rider) and the main character had a superimposed teddybear head. We were dying laughing. Good times.

I was wondering who the female singer was, too.

I was front row center and it was great. Yes the most fun of the weekend ( thank you rage heads, you were so rude I boycotted the show )

The Jamican rappper was Red Fox, The masked Latino rapper ? ? ? And I've been trying to remember the girls name all day, she was great and pulled off I'm a Punk Rocker perfectly. She was cute, spunky and even crowd surfed. I loved it.

Yup, the female singer was Aimee Echo from The Start. Dunno who was the rapper under the mask though... sounds different (and better!) than the guy on the CD.

I was incredibly surprised by the Teddybears show. I was expecting some happy fluff to send the night off, but ended up having just an awesome time with the incredible energy of band (and crowd!). I think the band was a little surprised at how well it all went too... with all the love they gave back to the crowd at the end (pictures, etc)

I agree. Teddybears were just so much fun. Aimee Echo (the Start) was amazing and looked great. it was the most fun I had all weekend next to Gogol Bordello.

Agreed - I forced my friends to listen to them and see them after I heard "Ahead of My Time" on Chris Douridas's show on KCRW and we went crazy! The Swedes totally saved Sunday from the disastrous Air show. I just wish I could catch their Wednesday show at the El Rey in LA. Go if you can!

My favorite clips were from Warriors and from The Shining when Shelly Duvall goes to the typewriter and finds pages and pages of "Teddy Bears".

They were great. I hope there are tkts left for Wednesday at El Rey.

I really, really, really regret missing this. I heard their music from the tent and it sounded like a blast, but the group I was with wanted to see Rage, and if we had been separated I would probably have never found our car. For me, the Rage set is kind of like in high school when you enter the clique of popular high school students and find out they're actually really boring and not as cool as they looked, and over in the corner the unpopualr kids are having this fucking awesome party. Even though I don't think the Teddybears set conflicted with RATM, they were that fucking awesome party.

Neutral Milk Hotel - do you live in LA? Go to their show at the El Rey on Wednesday if you do! It's so fun! I'm sad you missed it! If you can't, definitely look up 'teddybears coachella' on YouTube. There are a bunch of fun videos posted.

Yay! I'm so jealous - I can't make the show. I just checked - tickets are still available on Ticketmaster for $15. Unless they have Air-level sound problems and major diarrhea, I can't imagine you'll be disappointed.

Yeah I was totally bummed after Air but the Teddybears saved the day. Best set of Sunday. Brazilian Girls still take the cake for me though. She is simply an amazing performer. It felt super intimate even thought the tent was packed.

THE TEDDYBEARS SAVE COACHELLA

Who woulda thunk?

They've got a new fan in me. Their sense of humor is wonderful, maybe it's because I'm half Sweedish, Varsay Good.

Did you catch their manager before the set started. He was fun to watch, the perfectly groomed sweed in full suit and tie, almost a parady in itself.

TEDDYBEARS! My fave discovery of Coachella, along with !!! (Ok, i knew !!!, but had never seen them live).

I was backstage getting ready for Spank Rock, and all the drummers from Spank were dancing to the Teddybears, having a great time, loving it. I briefly went over to Ratatat, but quickly headed back to the real party!! I missed Ratatat, almost all of Damien Rice, was in the back for the first 2 Rage songs, and don't regret a minute that i spent watching the Bears.

Side note--I saw them backstage with big bass drum cases--turns out they carry their heads in these big red cases...too fun.
