Wow, opinions really are like assholes, I thought it was one of the better performances of the weekend...I walked in thinking they were obnoxious self minded little pricks surrounded by hype and walked out wanting to go to one of their headlining shows, I was very impressed, I guess you just had to be in the pit with a bunch of merciless and sweaty brits to get the feel for the music.

I agree with you on this one. It's like those Arcade Fire stupid bashing... "I don't get them. Why would people like them they sound horrible? They just make noise." I was at the barrier at the start (oh well since Siversun Pickups). I've been to so many intense pit concert action lately but I'm just really wasted so tired, too hot and I have to reserve some of my energy for other late night shows so I decided to step back farther from fun intense pit action and moshing. It was really awesome out there. Guess what they are even more awesome sounding from a distance, I've seen Arctic Monkeys once before but Alex Turner voice is in fantastic form at Coachella. It was a simple and yet stirring performance by Arctic Monkeys and possibly the best set for me last Friday.

Yeah, no kidding. I didn't think the front crowd was gonna get that crazy, but I'm glad it did. I thought they did a great job, but then again I always believe watching someone in the front make the performance much much better. I did however leave early to catch some Rufus Wainwright.

There were these parents in the very front against the rail during the Arctic Monkeys set and one of the British moshers was thrown and landed on their son who could not have been more than 9 or 10 years old and I thought to myself "what the fuck are they doing bringing their kid to the very front of the main stage" some people just have it coming...regardless the Arctic Monkeys crowd was brutal but a shit load of fun

Speaking of them, how old are the Arctic Monkeys? They look about 17.

I'd put them damn smack in the center. They didn't really provoke any reaction in me, good or bad.

You have to be fucking kidding me right? Of Montreal has to be the WORST band ever to grace the stage of coachella 07. I was dragged to that performance by a friend and i wanted to GOUGE MY EYES OUT by the end. I expected the Artic monkeys to suck, i only went into the concert knowing 2 of their songs, and they ROCKED the f'ing house!

well, back in their day, there probably weren't a bunch of idiots "moshing" for every freaking band. moshing is so middle of the road and boring these days. when i was in high school, you would only see moshing at a true hardcore or punk show like Black Flag, Murphy's Law, Gang Green, D.R.I., Bad Brains, Ramones, S.O.D., etc. now, these tools will mosh to anything, but 99% of them would not have had the balls to enter a real pit back in the day.

I was on the fringe of the crowd with my girlfriends (after Of Montreal), we all thought they put on a good show and had fun. It was the second time I saw them and thought they sounded great and I am American. But then again, I like them, so I am biased in my opinion.

HAHAAHA.

Not that Arctic Monkeys are gods or anything, but you clearly have awful ears. Of Montreal had by far the worst sound of the entire weekend. Arctic monkeys were near the top, like em or not.

Well if I flew in from another country to see 2 bands (most brits came for Arctic Monkeys and RATM) and I was being told by security to stop getting crazy because some bad parents decided to bring their kids to the very front of the main stage of one of the largest festivals in the world where there is bound to be crowd surfing, moshing, pushing, and quite possible the inability to breathe properly, etc..etc... I would tell security as well as the parents to fuck off, I mean come on give me a break, it's common fucking sense. Security finally gave up and told the parents they had to get the kid out of there because it was not the proper environment...mind you they also had their daughter with them who could not be more then 14 or 15 years old. SHAME

Artic Monkeys always been one of those bands I was like "whatever" about prior to Coachella, but after Coachella- they have a new fan!
They were amazing. You guys that were bored must have been in the back area where people were sitting and smoking cigarettes. I don't know about you guys, but I was at the front with the crazy Brit guys, and to be honest, it was boring UNTIL the Artic Monkeys hit the stage. that's when the shit hit the fan, the mosh pits exploded, and it really got hyped. The crowd had great energy, and they were so casual towards the crowd's reaction towards them, it almost gave them like an extra layer of cool. They were great.

I think they're OK. They've got a catchy fun sound that I don't mind, but I wouldn't want to hear too much of. Their first album is on my iPod, but I never have the urge to listen to it. However, if it comes up on random, I don't skip it, either.

I saw them for a bit, and my opinion of them didn't sway one way or the other.

they bore me so much I didn't even go to the mainstage while they were on it...
