Two really amazing days. Three days is too long to inhale all that dead grass, dust, and whatever poison was in the air this year. Nothing is worth being sick for over two weeks.

Three days was fine by me.

I am tempted to say a week. That would be amazing. But in all seriousness, I will say 3.
This was my first year, and after day 2 all I could think was... thank god they added a third day! After 2 days all I wanted was more. After 3 days all I wanted was sleep and a bed... and water.

Three. By the morning of the fourth day I'm ready to go home. Of course, by the time I get home, I want to go back.

From a camping perspective, I could definitely go for an extra day or two. I always feel like it's a bit of a waste to go through setting up a tent and a little mini habitat for just three days. If I had been staying there for four days and five nights I would also have made more of an effort to set up a nice camping spot, with a shade awning and maybe a camping pad (my friend and I had a tent and sleeping bags and nothing else. No pillows or anything). It would have meant more to carry, but ultimately being more comfortable as well.

3 or more....im just thinking of the fun i had after the show and before the show with my friends...a week of that would be awesome

I still think Coachella needs to experiment with the 4 day thing. I am trying to remember who I shared water with at Hot Chip.

As much as I would like to spend 4 or more days at Coachella, I am going with 3 days out of respect for my body.
Lack of sleep, constant intoxication, visual/audio overload, dehydration, physical exhaustion and intense weather can only be tolerated for so long, in my opinion, three days.
If there was a guarantee that the weather would stay in the upper 80's/low 90's, I could possibly handle more.

Also, if Coachella is so great (and it is), why not have more of a great thing? Four days would sell out and it would give us musiceads a chance to see even MORE great bands.

We are (mostly) adults on here and those of us who want to have it 4 days should have that option. There are so many bands that need to be heard plus the Coachella environment is wonderful enough to sustain another day.

At least no one voted for Coachella being just one day (so far).

3 days was fine, I didn't think I would be able to do it after being so tired from 2 days last year but I did it...my feet and legs were swollen tho, it looked like I had kankles for like 2 days, it was unreal!

4 days will be such an awesome experience. GV should just roll the dice and just do it. I hope Paul Tollett will consider this position. I still claim credit from a couple of years ago when I lobbied Coachella on a message board thread to switch their food court booths from Coke to Pepsi after Coachella 2005, and in 2006 and 2007 Coachella served Pepsi products.

I even see there is over one fifth of you that want Coachella to be a whole week. I think I would stil be happy with a mere 4 days for now.

Why do they hold Coachella in the late spring, when the weather is likely to be (and almost always is) oppressively hot?
It would be so much nicer if they just had it a month earlier.
Oh, and on a totally unrelated note, who do I talk to in order to become a licensed soft drink and water vendor at the event next year? I used to work for the oil companies, so I already am well versed in the art of price fixing.

Water is only $2 a bottle. If Coachella was a month earlier, than it would be too likely to have rain there.
Archie Bunker
05-14-2007, 11:00 AM
There is hardly any measurable rain in that area after late March. However, the temperature difference between April 1st and May 1st is typically huge.

The only explanation I've ever read in regards to this question is a quote from Coachella creator Paul Tollett here (http://www.urb.com/features/157/HowtheWestWasWon.php?PageId=3):
"The reason the show happens when it does has to do with the grass. There are only certain times when it works. If I had it my way, we’d go a couple weeks earlier. But there’s water underneath the polo field. They pump it up through sprinklers and the water goes right back into the ground. There’s a whole world underneath that grass."

Maybe after a few years with 3 days going on, they could pull off a half day on Thurs. night, with gates opening at like 5pm or something, til 12.

I still think 4 full days will work. There is just too much musical talent that needs to be heard by the Coachella audience.

why is 365 days not on the poll?
kroqken
05-17-2007, 07:11 PM
365 days is unrealistic. Some people have to work for a living, but Coachella can live on in your memories, CD collection and with the Coachella documentary, on sale now!!!!

come on delta, you can easily scalp tickets while enjoying coachella. you just need your laptop and a cell.
kroqken
06-12-2007, 09:29 AM
Scalpers make attending concerts too financially difficult for members of the working and middle classes.
TomAz
06-12-2007, 10:26 AM
Do you think the government should move to a single-payer concert system, Ken? is it every American's right to be able to get good seats at the Smashing Pumpkins reunion show?

What does a single payer health plan have to do with the morality of ticket scalping?
TomAz
06-12-2007, 03:35 PM
It's easy to make a case that all Americans (all people, regardless of nationality, actually) should be entitled to basic health care. It's much less easy to make a similar argument that all people should be entitled to concert tickets at face.
In other words, I am saying concert tickets are a luxury good, and your complaining about aftermarket prices on said luxury good strikes me as a bit silly.
kroqken
06-12-2007, 03:40 PM
I never said scalping should be illegal, I just think it is immoral and should be shunned.
PineapplePete
06-12-2007, 03:43 PM
i have been saved many a time by scalpers. they're ok with me unless they sell counterfeits...
kroqken
06-12-2007, 03:55 PM
I think it is unfair scalpers grab most of the good seats before the general public even has a chance to buy tickets first.
kroqken
06-14-2007, 08:33 AM
In order to see so many show these days, a person has to often pay higher scalped prices instead of face value. It is unfair.
kroqken
06-15-2007, 04:00 PM
I wish scalpers were facing real criminal penalties for what they do, some say what scalping is involves usuary.
