I would love to see them play, not just at Coachella, but to see them in general.

The Kinks are one of the most underrated bands of all time.

There is a pretty good Wikipedia article on them--evidently they were banned in the US for some time, and that's why they were not as popular as the Beatles and the Who. I wonder if the younger generation really knows who they are. |

This would be fucking awesome and they would deserve a dusk slot on the main stage (maybe the same time Jesus and Mary Chain played this year). Behind the Beatles, the Kinks are my favorite British Invasion band. I found a 2-disc version of The Village Green Preservation Society the other day and even though I already have the CD, I'm going to go pick it up after I get paid tomorrow. Oh yeah, and I saw Ray Davies when he toured last year and he had a lot of energy. He would've been 61-62 at the time but he didn't perform like it.

I don't mean to speak for everyone else in the thread, but...
If you don't support this reunion at Coachella one of us will gladly rape everything you love to death. |

Wow, that's big news. Wonder if they'll do Coachella or Bonnaroo. A lot of reunion tours going down next year, yes? The Verve, Portishead (might as well be a reunion), Led Zeppelin (I'm sure), My Bloody Valentine, Swervedriver, The Breeders, and now The Kinks? Insanity.
God, goldenvoice should just have Friday be a one-stage day of Reunionchella with The Kinks, MBV, The Verve, The Breeders, Swervedriver. That would be amazing. But I'll catch them even if they don't play Coachella, but here's hoping.

OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD THIS HAS TO HAPPEN.
Lola vs. Powerman and the Moneygoround is one of my favorite albums of all time. ZOMGGG..... I'd be totally, totally, totally 100% down for this. Especially if they play "Powerman"...or "The Village Green Preservation Society"...or "Dedicated Follower of Fashion"...or just their whole damn catelouge... Wellllll, not EVERYTHING, but you get my drift.

wow. this is some big news.
It makes complete and perfect sense for The Kinks to Headline any of thoe three days. they are definately headliner material. If GV lets this one slip through their fingers, I will be speechless. also if not, they better have some damn good headliners to make up for it, but shit, get The Kinks!!!!! |

The Kinks might be too classic rock sounding to play...
but I'm for them I think it would be kind of refreshing to have them play |
